- Roll Racing against a few EVOs, 3 Supercharged V8s! and a 1000+hp Drag Car!
Even after all my planning I failed to be able to run full boost this time round.
Filled up a full tank with pump E85 from United which showed on my Zeitronix Ethanol gauge as E58-E60! Still had a great night on near wastegate boost pressure.
Didn't do eliminations due to a full catch can so hoping to do this all again in a few weeks!
If you have a similar powered car and want to tee up a race let me know! Win or lose its great fun :)

Keen to hear about what’s done to the motor and gearbox, I’m doing a “budget” build at the moment, got a fresh new EJ207 block from Subaru and referb EJ20k heads and VF34 turbo, although I will get a blouch turbo eventually
Sounds awesome mate ill have to check out your videos. Although mine has a destroked 2.5L (2.3L now) I had similar power on a 2.0L style build. You really dont need to throw a lot of money at these to make them quite fast given they weigh 1250-1300kg! The let down for roll or drag racing is my close ratio V7 6 Speed Gearbox, although fantastic, you have to change too often for drag style racing.

@@theversion6stijarrethrowle309 its insanely fun I gotta say. Im also running a small turbo. A precision 6262. Its currently on 220kw on 20psi, even for low power figures, its still packs a punch. This power figure is much faster than my old setup on a built motor running 260kw on 98.

Hi! Its a EJ257 Bottom end de-stroked to 2.3L using a EJ207 Crank and the original EJ207 heads :)
I had a EJ207 stroked to a 2.1L but a 3 valves let go and pretty much took the motor with it.
Are you still running the GC heads or did you change to avcs from later model STI and did you upgrade cams, ported etc?
Still GC heads, No AVCS. Using 272 BC Cams, BC Cam gears. Shimless bucket conversion :)

Not really! :) I'm not an engine builder, but I did a fair bit of research into engine configurations before deciding on the 2.35L.

I had a 2.1L before this motor (stroked 2.0) and that was also a great combination.
I must say, the 2.35 seems best of both worlds (2.0 \ 2.5 EJ)
The 2.35L likes to rev like a 2L. Has bucket loads of mid range like a EJ25. Ill be racing a friends 2.5L, but similar powered GC8 WRX next week on the track so it will be interesting to see the differences. Stay tuned for the video :)
@@theversion6stijarrethrowle309 thanks mate will do. I have a 04 sti 6years now here in perth, ej207. planning on building it soon. Did you use the 2L crank in the 2.5 block to make it a 2.35? That's the part I'm wondering about
@@MrIrish1 Ah ok, yes. Brand new STI EJ257 case halves which then was closed decked, EJ20 STI crank, I beam long rods :)

Basic setup: 2.3L, 99 STI Heads, BC 272 cams, Stock location GTPumps GTPS03.5 Twin scroll turbo. Obviously all the supporting modifications to go along with it like fuel, intake, exhaust etc and coil on plug conversion. To be honest its not built for outright power although the motor can handle 500-600hp reliably I have chosen a moderate sized stock location turbo and still using TMIC so it can somewhat 'do it all'. I have been thinking about taking my forester (2009 XT) all stock location but built motor sitting around 600hp on e85.
Would prob need to take out the back seat/baby seat haha.

Why not give it a go? Cheap night out. I have not built my STI for drag racing, its just something I have tried with the current build. Seems to go ok though ;)
