Secondly, sometimes when we act with kindness, compassion and noble intentions, we can change the course of events. Nothing is set in stone. But, I have no problem the way "small farmers" (or individuals) raise their animals for meat! They allow them to have a healthy & stimulating life "in the sunshine" before they HUMANELY slaughter them!! Yes it's done this way for their own "health" & that of their customers, but the majority also care about the welfare of their animals! We are NEVER going to STOP meat ("eating dead animals" as I refer to it) eating!! Therefore, focusing on "their" health, I encourage people to go meatless at least once a week (giving web sites for recipe ideas) & to purchase their meat from "Old McDonald Had a Farm" farmers like this woman (or the local Health Food Store)!!! It helps to also give them an actual "local" farmer they can go to. PS: I don't know about you, but I have found over the yrs that the more Factory Farmed meat a person eats, the more agressive they are......

We know how many things can go wrong on a farm, wiping out a whole year's profit sometimes in a single day. And inevitable that a good year will be followed by one or more bad years. So we need some financial cushion just to survive as a business. Still. I was proud to be the third generation of our family to work our land! Not everybody can say that. When dad died, though, mom sold our farm to a man we had rented part of our farm to for many years. I was not equipped to be a full time farmer, and my brother already had a secure job in a city a couple hours away.
