I saw 2112,permanent waves, and moving pictures. Now you know how old I am. When they used to come through St. Louis, they would pay the roadies time and a half To clear half of the ice off so they could play hockey till the sun came up. They always said St. Louis had the best ice only second to Canada. Thanks for this. Miss Neil already.
Hey James, so the other night I was at a pub minding my own business, when an older fellow (I'm only 20), noticed my gig bag and asked me if I played guitar. Long story short, we got talking and he started talking about watching your videos and learning how to play and I told him that's how I learned how to play. Never met another PT/James James fan before. Your fan base is coming together haha
Saw Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, and 2112 tours, Vets Auditorium Columbus.... I’m old now (but still a bit younger than them). I still remember them opening with Bastille Day.....amazing performers.
Beautimus!!!....first concert I attended was rush signals tour 1982 , I begged my older brother to take me he was 17, I was 13, wow it really zapped me... rory Gallagher opened up for a second I thought what the hell is this , then Jim told me to calm down it's the opening act,..haha!! 😃 first of many we attend at Philly Spectrum we are Delaware lads.....as usual JJ nailed it!!!....Neil Peart stands alone ...Peace to him and the ones who love him.
Few understand the simple genius of the first Rush album. Even fewer know the original drummer wasn’t Neil Pearl but rather John Rutsey, a great drummer in his own right, featured here. Great tune.
High school dance in Don Mills, Ontario, June 1974. They came out and started with that song. Marshall stacks and we all, sadly, had to see if Geddy was a woman. Long hair and such a high voice - who knew?
Dude! Another great vid. You have totally re-ignited my passion for guitar with all this content! Its been a revelation as far as learning goes. I have made so much faster progress being able to see how things are tied together and started playing along to tracks myself etc. Just really cool. Thanks! 😁👍
Thanks again James. Been reading/watching a lot of Rush stuff since the unfortunate passing of Neil Peart. One of the articles I read described Alex's guitar style as chaotic; I like chaotic!
every now and then you just got to pull out that first album and jam it out it is such a good album course we all know the band and everything would change as far as the format the style I like that first album... before and after is such an underrated song in my opinion it's just fantastic. 335 soundin sweet
@@jamesjames9275 I was 13 yrs old and a neighbor took me and some buddies to see Rush, after he hd payed the first album for us. To this day, it is one of my top 5 album of all time. I like What You're Doing the best! Thanks for the videos - I have learned more in the last 2 years watching your videos than 10 years trying to read tab.
I know you don’t take requests, so call this an idle thought: I’d be really interested to know how you hear the descending double-stop lick in the intro of “Play That Fast Thing (One More Time)” by Rockpile. Ive got the melody, but the harmony is eluding me.
@Rexx Engineering yes it is but you have to remember the who were one of their biggest influences to sew a lot of people were copying that Townsend stuff. I don't know if it was Nancy Wilson but I know that I think it was Roger Fisher was doing it in the original heart Band too. because the who Moody Blues and Zeppelin were there three biggest influences Ann & Nancy have both stated

Loved watching St. Louis play BGSU in Hockey back in the day. Yeah, we're both young.

I think EVERY Rush fan knows it was JR and not the Professor on the first album .
Great tune and awesome shirt !!!! I’ve got a few Rorer 714 from 1974
I need look no further. You nailed it. As always. James... my man.
put a huge smile on my face - now i can play it ....properly and not my hacked version lol - thx
The Rorer Pharmaceutical shirt is really a sight to behold. It's that attention to Canadian detail that sets this video apart.
That sounds absolutely amazing. Very nice.

Love this tune! Awesome playing as always.

Trucker Kev The Paid Tourist Still my favorite Rush album.

One of the best debut albums, which of course stands on it's own. I still listen to this album start to finish a few times a year.
Love the shirt man...ain't seen them since the early 80s
You have some guitar collection bro!! Luv the vids, keep em comin,
Love this song. And I see there's a 'lude on yer shirt😄
Nice cover! My favorite Rush album. "In the mood" is a fun song to play from the same album.
I just took a gig in a band that plays a ton of Rush, this is most helpful , I don't really play in the style of Alex in any way but this helps
Tony Wilson I don’t play anything like Alex’s style, either.
Sweet- deserves a comment!
That’s speedy turnaround! You did this one even better than on your old channel. Great guitar and great playing. 👍
Damn gud song and awesome job as always man, please keep it up
On a 335? You bastard! I mean that in the best way
Really cool!!
Nice!
Classic Rush! Music today can't hold a candle to the Musicianship of the 60's - 80's. Do they even play a instrument today? 🤔
Wheat Project Check out Khruangbin. They groove.
---- Chong's "lude" shirt from Up in Smoke ---
I need that shirt

I discovered a while back that Alex Lifeson A chord at the 2nd and 5th fret.
TIMO Pete built an entire career off that A5 chord.

Hey yall.... First!
Great cover
Sorry.. Trucker Kev got first by 4 minutes.
Was this when John Rutsey was in the band?
Yes.
