The groove, the lyrics, the bass line, the guitar solo, all ridiculous. But for whatever reason, it's the horn arrangement that does it for me. And to think that some the members of this band were only 15-16 years old when they recorded this gem of a Funk song. But back then was a very different era. Musicians and the bands they organized rehearsed intensely and often, both individually and collectively, and in many of those neighborhoods the music was both encouraged and supported. #respect

Hey Renee Jones. 1977 was one of the best summers of my life too. I had a Z28 and I was getting ready for football. It was really great to be out and to be free.

This so called techno-age can't compare to the music of the 70s & the most part of the 80s. Don't forget the King of bass - Larry Graham's "The Jam". However, there are so many artists of that era, we'd be all week naming them all. No time like the 70s!

I had a Blues Band back a few years ago, we did this song......our bassist/vocalist was bad assed. I was the only "colored" person in the group....ha, these guys were and still are my brothers. They all said I that "hand"....for funk & blues. I just grew up loving that music. My first album ever, was BB King Live at the Cook County Jail.....

To be young at this time in life. To be in the hood, the country, Surburbs, anywhere. When Slide came out. 1977, this shit bought out something deep and unique in ''You''. That Bass line was deep. If you were between the age of 12 to 20, and you heard that for the first time, something deep happened within you. A logical transformation of something that was ''Personal''. You Drool with delight when a certain kind of Beat and Feel that connects with your Mind, body and Soul. Flashbacks of Good times, the attitudes in the music did not connect with the Evil within. We Just Slide. Slave even said, ''Am gonna let my Grand Momma check this out''. Shit, Me too, When my Granny heard this Track. She did a Government funded section 8 Full split. It messed me Up at the time to see that. But hey, I'm just a kid, there is nothing I can say or do. All I have is a Damn Flashback, in Visual Technicolor. Just Slide. And with Pleasure you ''Glide''........
