I have literally read so many tutorials on how to do this and they never made sense to me and this singular 4 minute video just solved years of frustration for me !! Thank you!!!!
i tried this with a "detail item" family, example a horizontal and vertical valve, but doesn't work. better idea for that? (not just rotation cause some things don't need a rotation). Update = it worked after all. THX
Is there a way to limit families that goes into drop down list? e.g. I have a Title Block Where I have multiple Generic Annotation families(Logos, Images, Abstract Schemes), and I need to create dropdown menu just for 1 single family, but instead I get to choose from all generic annotations.
Hey there, I'm searching for a method how I can extract the chosen Family change it into a number, so that I can count how many of which are chosen in a Schedule. Any Ideas? Anyway thank you for the helpful video-
@@BINHE615 So I have Charger Cabinet with Charger in it. With the content of the video above I made a selectionbar with 5 families, so you can choose how many charger are in one cabinet. But now I have to somehow count how many charger i have in one. But sadly Revit restricts me to use the Label Parametee in a formula...
@@BINHE615 I try to use this label parameter to select the lighting fixture in a family, but when I load this family into a host family, I cannot create a way to connect this to a parameter in the host family, so the user can control which lighting fixture is chosen in the project.

This was so brilliant and what I needed, thank you so much!
after 2:45 is not clear, how to associate those families (ball, pyramid, box) visibility with host family. Voice narration would be helpful as well
You only need to load them into the host family, then create a parameter from "Label"
Do you want me to redo the video with voice?
No, this is clear :)
Thank's

Send it to me and I’ll have a look.

Yes, that's how it works. I know another way to manually set the options for the list. I'll do a short video shortly.
Unfortunately, I tried but didn't succeed. All the family in the same category will be listed in that list. Sorry.
@@BINHE615 yeah, I came to the same conclusion, unfortunatelly. Thanks for trying ! I guess we can only wait for wish to be implemented now

Not quite sure what you meant, can you count them in a schedule?

@@MrJoshiSeven is it possible to make the embedded family shared?
@@BINHE615 sadly not
Can you share your family, so I can have a look?
How does this work in nested families? My nested family has these labels, but I need to able to control them from the host family.
Have you solved your problem? Let me know if you need assistence.
@@BINHE615 Not yet, if you have a tip or an answer, it's very appriciated!
@@JD-nu3pm Can you explain the issue you have? I'm pretty sure you can control it in the host family.
