I used to speak Teochew or Thiochew(old spelling)at home all the time,it's the wastes when ancestors dialects are neglected.This dialect do not invented over night,it takes a lot of year arrangements, keep it going!
I think that teochow has a strong showing of cultural pride so it will be fine. But yeah I think a lot of local Chinese languages are forgotten as people all end up just speaking mandarin because it is the national language...
