Spotlight On: Jess Sewter

In the latest episode of our Spotlight Series we caught up with Chief Partnerships Officer at Generation UK & Ireland, Jess Sewter.
Generation is an employment charity founded in 2014 by McKinsey & Company to help bridge the gap between employers and the 75 million young people worldwide who are unemployed. Their UK & Ireland team work to transform the UK's dated education-to-employment systems, empowering individuals to build thriving tech careers through training bootcamps and placement assistance, and providing tech employers with the highly skilled, motivated talent they need.
Jess shares how Generation's social mobility mission inspired her to pursue her role, and how an agile approach to learning allows Generation to ensure they're providing relevant training and support in an ever-changing tech sector, to ensure they're able to meet the needs of employers.
"I think Leeds is really special [...] We've got such high quality tech and innovation here, but what really sets Leeds apart is how collaborative it is. People are competitive but not in a negative way, I see people who on paper should be competitors, working together on cross-city themes and projects which is really wonderful to see."
