Can’t speak for abroad but Northface was very popular in the early 00’s. Mostly for us in the northern states with harsh winters. Maybe not fades but shape ups, timbs, and northface was like the go to winter get up.

Northface is popular here in Ireland, first time in winter here and I can say that it's not that cold, 5 degrees is okay, if I wore this type of jacket I would sweat buckets. I am used to way colder weather. I usually wear like autumn jackets here/bomber style jackets. That being said, Northface is like the typical chav jacket I'd say, unfortunate cause it looks cool. It's what Adidas is to Russians.

The north face 1996 retro nuptse jacket does have a hood actually, its rolled up inside the collar and is secured with velcro. You never see it being used because it requires breaking free form the slave like cognitive prison that all north face consumers suffer form myself included.
I was walking behind a group of 6 lads in Chester all presented like this, they were getting rowdy and had names like 'Jayden' and 'Alfie' they all ended up going in a vape shop, I was like typical!
Most men around the world have a short back and sides jar head short military haircut. It makes them look more manly and also is low maintenance. Many men, arent interested in spending hours in front of a mirror with brylcream to look like a grease ball, not interested in long messy hair, or looking feminine.

The men who spend a long time styling there hair have a much higher fear of rejection and spend hours in front of the mirror doing their best to avoid rejection. Men in general that cut their hair really short or shave it all off don't care about rejection as much and are more comfortable in themselves.

I think women cut there hair short for similar reasons, it's easier and no maintenance. You can go to sleep and wake up looking the same. It's not about me as a man and my personal style, I'm observing the culture in the UK and lots of men cut the hair short because its low maintenance. Or grow long because they can't be bothered going to the barbers. That's where its seen also as a man who takes care of his appearance and life. A man with long messy hair is seen as doesn't take care or control of his life. Social pressure with the mindset of the masses is that if your in a male environment, long hair is often seen as girly, or he's lazy or even a poser, short hair means manly, and one of the lads. If your a man in a female environment, men think women want to see a man who keeps himself trim and maintained. The easiest way to do this for a man to achieve this is to cut his hair short. The skin fade is also popular for men in early forties to hide the grey on the sides.
being from a working class background myself, I can confirm that loads of people in those communities are constantly wasting stupid money (which they don't really have) on expensive brands.

Lower-class is to do with where you live and the opportunities afforded to you, not necessarily your total income. Plenty of people in your situation might have turned to crime for more income but that wouldn't have necessarily changed their social class
@@feral_orc of course wealth is always related to your class. You're not living in poverty though just because you can't afford a 200$ jacket. To me poverty means not being able to afford basic necessities like food or any clothes at all.

From what I do get though, when you're considered to be below the poverty line, that represents the possibility of your life becoming destabilised in a dangerous way. It's not a yes/no, it's like "this person has a chance to hit serious life threatening issues" Disregarding the fact that we're talking about a jacket here, yes a cost of 200 euro for anything not completely necessary would be incredibly hard to justify for a low-income household, that doesn't mean it's not possible for them to purchase at all.

I think women cut there hair short for similar reasons, it's easier and no maintenance. You can go to sleep and wake up looking the same. It's not about me as a man and my personal style, I'm observing the culture in the UK and lots of men cut the hair short because its low maintenance. Or grow long because they can't be bothered going to the barbers. That's where its seen also as a man who takes care of his appearance and life. A man with long messy hair is seen as doesn't take care or control of his life. Social pressure with the mindset of the masses is that if your in a male environment, long hair is often seen as girly, or he's lazy or even a poser, short hair means manly, and one of the lads. If your a man in a female environment, men think women want to see a man who keeps himself trim and maintained. The easiest way to do this for a man to achieve this is to cut his hair short. The skin fade is also popular for men in early forties to hide the grey on the sides.

being from a working class background myself, I can confirm that loads of people in those communities are constantly wasting stupid money (which they don't really have) on expensive brands.

@@2ndpeer that's poverty, not being lower-class. At least that's how I interpreted it. Lower-class is to do with where you live and the opportunities afforded to you, not necessarily your total income. Plenty of people in your situation might have turned to crime for more income but that wouldn't have necessarily changed their social class
@@feral_orc of course wealth is always related to your class. You're not living in poverty though just because you can't afford a 200$ jacket. To me poverty means not being able to afford basic necessities like food or any clothes at all.
@@2ndpeer the way poverty works is complex, and may be beyond me to explain or understand. From what I do get though, when you're considered to be below the poverty line, that represents the possibility of your life becoming destabilised in a dangerous way. It's not a yes/no, it's like "this person has a chance to hit serious life threatening issues"
Disregarding the fact that we're talking about a jacket here, yes a cost of 200 euro for anything not completely necessary would be incredibly hard to justify for a low-income household, that doesn't mean it's not possible for them to purchase at all.
