We've finally put the story of one of the most amazing deer that's ever existed on youtube for you all to enjoy! Please share with all your hunting friends and let us know what you think! We appreciate every comment.
20:30, maybe if you had some rider swag on you would have had the chance lol. Pretty sure you had the shoulder mount in Edmonton at at boat show in 2012 ish, it’s a freakin monster an awesome shoulder mount
Cody, would it not have been possible to strip the Velvet and then have the Velvet replicated back onto the mount? Would the Velvet of added that 10+ inches that put him over the world record? Just curious on your thought process behind the decision.
It would have been possible but it wouldn't be the same. Some thought he may have even grew if the velvet was stripped because he has some smaller points that didn't score because of velvet webbing. General consensus was he easily would have been over the record if stripped.
An "Did I just see that moment!?'" The Texas Heart Shot, amazing! Awesome story. Great peeps you have supporting you. And that deer truly is the 'King'.
Cody, well deserved. And to all of us that have witnessed this special deer, we all know its the record without you having to strip the velvet. Im super proud that you didnt. The 🍒 on top was having u your two best friends and your wife with you when you were there and that you all will look back on that day with fond memories that will last a fifetime. To have it go down on film, the hunt, and especially the deer, was legendary. Cant wait for your next vidoes. Thanks for sharing your hunts with us so those of us who will never ever even have an opportunity to hunt deer that you would pass, take it from me. Anyways thanks again Cody
Congrats young man, you did well! Great hunt, great memories , great comaraderie, great for us to follow along. Thank you for that. For what it's worth, I saw his twin 30 years ago in far northeast Illinois in the dead of winter. As hunters we never get tired of seeing deer but there is no denying that some stand out for one reason or another. Great deer!
Congrats! Also, I applaud you for not removing the velvet to satisfy a ridiculous scoring system and useless "book". That buck grew a tremendous set of antlers and should get the credit for every inch. Kudos to you for recognizing that!
Wowser another monarch of a muley Cody!!!congratulations what an experience this must be! Your work ethic is a staple of your success!!! time and a dream collide and to make a shot through the tall weeds is incredible I am always captivated to see your videos !!!thanks for sharing this to us other hunters it keeps us believing what's possible out there..wow what a bowbuck!!!
Bumping him on the first attempt made this story even better for us viewers... I couldn't imagine trying to eat or sleep after that. The filming was awesome. You really did the current King of deer justice and keep the blood pumping for us hunters.
Absolutely love the story. I have seen most of what you show. Sleepy is one of my favorites. The passion for conservation and hunting is incredible. It shows in all of the stories. Thank you.
Great storytelling for an amazing hunt and an incredible animal. Pretty sure I would have cried when I walked up to an animal like that, especially after all of the time that you put in on this deer. It is hard for some people to understand how we can hunt these animals. I do it with great respect and admiration for what they do and what they are. Thank you for taking us all along on this journey with you. Truly a once in a lifetime hunt!
I got the cold chills watching this. What an amazing job putting this together to honor the deer. Amazing job! Not stripping him makes you more of a legend in all of our eyes.
Absolute giant! Congratulations on your lifetime buck with your friends right there with you best feeling ever. Amazing content! Past 3 seasons I turned my honey hole of WV whitetail into a place of memories with my 2 son's, and my local rec baseball team and bring the players that are interested and make their dreams come true. Best feeling in the world with my 2 boys by my side and their friends/team mates. Memories are the best, and id never change my decision. God bless and best of luck to you all in your future hunts.
When you consider how many factors have to align for a buck to get that big, genetics, age, not getting killed by other hunters, coyotes, harsh winters, year, after year, after year.... simply amazing. The buck of many lifetimes! Huge congrats to you Cody. Way to get it done on another SK giant!
@@b8ranch I had one of the biggest bucks at 7 yards on ground facing completely away when I was young and never took the shot but if it happened with the experience o have today I would have sent it!
I would love to see a video of the deer on your trophy wall. Something like a trophy room video with the mounts/european mounts and a quick montage of the hunt. Great video as always!
@@LIVE2HUNT Yes please do that. IMO you are one of if not the best mule deer hunter in the world. I remember watching the first video years ago and it was crazy then watching this version is much better and appreciated !!
"I called up every friend I had this morning. So there's like 3 people here" lol amazing buck of course but the way you tell stories makes me feel like I'm the one hunting him love watching your videos
Just down right awsome job and video ,funny you don't pass out some times! From the excitement ! Just think how many acres of trees you saved by shooting him before he started rubbing !
What a world class animal! It's truly an epic deer with an epic documentation of it's final days. Job well done in so many ways... video production and all! I gotta ask, what was the underlying reason for not stripping the velvet? I think I know why but just curious as to what went into that decision. Respect!
So what was the thinking to shot him directly in the rear end? Did he aim low to have the arrow go up into the guts/liver/ and eventually lung or heart? Just curious what vitals he expected the arrow to be able to hit from directly behind the deer.
Like you said Cody the king is a once in a lifetime animal congrats but im glad you decided not to strip the velvet he looks so BADASS in the velvet thanks for takin us all along on your awesome journey
@@LIVE2HUNT :) dont mean pay someone, guided hunts, time spent if not from the area, lodging, not takin away from YOUR son, ya did the work and it paid off. i was a guide in montana and remember what they were payin. i`m lucky where i`m at in indiana, being on the property for 30 yrs, it hold great genes and i have 300 acers to hunt , only me, so i`m very very lucky, and i`ve earned my take too. but in the west hunts, it`s high dollar. not meant to take away from your hunt son, i watched then for a lot of yrs.
Amazing buck, amazing hunt, thanks for sharing. Humble request: mood music is way overused in your videos. Takes away from the hunt. Natural sounds would be awesome to hear even if it's wind noise. No orchestra is in the Canada bush so let's hear the natural sounds of the hunt. Thanks again for sharing.
Why did you decide not to strip velvet and maintain new world archery record deer? I would have done the same just wondering why you made that decision. Congrats on an amazing animal
I hunted the typical world record on the Kaibab in Arizona in 2015. After seeing him I devoted 8 weeks of scouting and hunting. Eventually I got one shot, the second to the last night. I thought I hit him only to find I hit a burnt branch I didn’t see as I was focusing on the deer. It hit the branch and knocked my arrow off flight. I was heartbroken and only had one more day to hunt before the season ended. The next and last night the potential typical world record and a large 180” non typical came in and but for some strange reason they immediately bedded 30 yards away in small patch of aspen saplings. Unable to shoot I sat and waited and waited. Thinking I was not going to get a shot with minutes ticking away, the non typical stood then stepped out of saplings. Broadside at 30 yards I let an arrow fly and 10 minutes later I was standing over giant nontypical buck. He wasn’t the world record buck I was after but I had a lifetime of memories and stories. The potential world record, well he sprang up from his bed and bounded away. My good wife let me miss her birthday and our 22 nd wedding anniversary. She come up one weekend to spend some time with me which was fun. She asked “is he really that big?” I told her yes and she said then go get him and have the time of your life whether you come home with him or not. I have the greatest wife and stories of encounters with that giant that will last me a lifetime. When people see the big nontypical in my office I get a chance to share the many stalks and close encounters as memories flood my mind. So thank you for sharing your videos and capturing the full essence of hunting giant mule deer with a bow. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as I had similar experiences. -Eric AZ
I wonder how many natives got world records out there that are never allowed to get scored and entered in these antler books, some kids from the rez has big bucks too that never get the chance to be recognized.

@@BooneOutdoors208 have you ever heard of a Texas heart shot? They aren't the most practical shot in most cases, but they are definitely affective.

Awesome buck. Great video and editing. Can you please talk us though the shot and shot angle?

How could no one else know about this buck and go after him themselves?
Amazing buck amazing film, my only question was why not strip his velvet?
Because he was perfect the way he was.
