Really good informative video. This and the SBR is a pain to work on. You almost need to get a kid with small hands to help you. LOL Thanks for the links.
Wow!!! that was a hard way to do that upgrade man so much easier to pull the front down super easy just a few screws but at least you got it done happy bashing my brotha👍😎🙈🙉🙊👊✌
I’m waiting to see a video like this where somebody just loses it and takes a hammer to their rig, then makes a follow up video fixing not only the original issue, but the new damage as well.
@@RoadsideRC - Yeah, well it comes with the territory when we mix scale realism and performance at this level. I just switched out the servo in mine and found a bunch more rusted screws after replacing everything I could without tearing it apart. Cleaning this thing would be even more of a bitch if it wasn’t water proof. 8S is fun, but I’m a power freak, so a 400 amp esc that can handle up to 16S is definitely going in. I have found that higher voltage systems are much more efficient run time wise, especially when you run the rig at 50 - 75% for the duration. I’ll experiment with 12S @ 4500-5000 mah depending on how the batteries fit and see what happens.
So I’m currently replacing this and I really struggled getting the Servo and servo saver junk out so I would like to replace it with a very good servo, which one would you recommend plus what servo mount to go with it. Thank you!! I wish finding parts and compatibility for this was as simple and straight forward as it was for my Notorious.
Hello, I would go with the Losi servo mount that I show in this video, then I would NOT suggest using the servo that I show here. In fact, I may be taking it out and replacing it myself. Live and learn. I am currently looking at the Hitec RCD D-845WP. I have seen others use this and be very happy. It is waterproof, and good quality for $100.
Great Vid! What hardware did you use to connect the servo arm. I have the 18t aluminum servo arm but the hardware doesnt fit the 3 adjustable holes. please assist.
@@RoadsideRC thank you for the quick response. This actually helps my confidence because I just new it was the stock one and I couldn't figure it out. Great work as always.
Snapped my adjustable toe link rod on the upper right control arm and the spindle and spindle carrier as well as the servo saver 3rd 15 minute run no jumping but it did an indo and cartwheeled
Dang! I am sorry to hear that! Must have been quite the cartwheel! Aluminum spindles are now available from Losi and Vitavon. That is great. I think Vitavon might have the carriers also. Good luck getting it back together fast!
How is your servo working as of now ? I looked up the servo as well as the 18t horn and may buy is it worth it ? Is it better then the stock one ? Stronger?
@@RoadsideRC yeah it does. Especially because it was a low speed highside flip. Now I just get to stare at until parts come in. Did you order direct from gpm?
Glad it could be useful! If you check out some of my other SRR videos, you will also see an easier way to access under the cage. Good luck with your servo swap.
I was wondering if you can make a video of taking off a whole Super losi rock ray and putting it back together lol Piece by piece I just bought one and man it’s a pain in the butt lol just saying It will be a Christmas present lol
@@kaissheena4561 Ha! I do understand what you are saying! Look through my videos - at this point I have done most of the truck! Always feel free to ask questions if you need. You can find me on Facebook also.
In my opinion the think that servo horn is way to long and it’s gonna get pretty stressed out and also changing trans/rec you’ll get faster steering response
aha fiddly mechanical things that you dont feel confident doing I just know that feeling so well in the end though it all worked out mate *😀🔍supporting✅ full view🔎🎭✅ left a like 👍🇦🇺👍😀*
I went with 2 of these: www.banggood.com/CYS-S0650-Large-55KG-HV-High-Torque-Metal-Gear-Digital-Servo-for-RC-Car-Boat-Airplane-p-1338528.html for my converted MTXL since both stock servos finally stripped. They have a normal 15t spline & come with aluminum horns, plus they're fast & dirt cheap. I wish these were out when I bought the JX's for the X-Maxx & DBXL-e. I did open them up, greased the bearing sealed & waterproofed the PCB. Hopefully they last but they are fast as hell so far.

If it was going to happen, it would be because of this truck! :)

I used HS-5765MH with GPMservo saver, fit well
Thanks.
Did you waterproof it yourself?

Honestly, I just used a random screw from one of my bins. I'm sorry I can't point you to a specific screw.

Damn man lots of messing with it to get it right! I've been there before too. Good video on all the things that you had to do.
Thanks. It doesn't always go right.
Hi im looking into getting one of these..what motor and esc do u recommend? The best;)
The stock motor and ESC are great in this truck.
What is the URL of the Losi forum you mentioned? Looking for a good source of info on the SRR as I just picked one up a month ago.

This servo eventually stripped also.
I hear people are happy with the Hitec servo...but you could buy 2 of these for the price of that one.
Wow thats a monster right there. I need to get this monster to try out
It is a very cool truck for sure.
Is that servo holding up? Im slap that on if it does fit that los351010 bracket
It does fit, and so far does work. It only has 1 set of batteries through it so far.
Any update on servo life?
If you go with a 1/5 scale savox servo you may able to keep your stock servo horn
Thank you!
And did you do the 8.4 volts on servo ?
I did not do the higher voltage on the servo. Was afraid 8.4V would fry it.
How long did it take to get the gpm parts?. Mine broke before I even got through my first charge.
That sucks man!
My GPM parts came in around 1 week or two.
@@RoadsideRC yeah it does. Especially because it was a low speed highside flip. Now I just get to stare at until parts come in. Did you order direct from gpm?
No - ordered from a store on eBay.
@@RoadsideRC thank you for your reply!

I know that servo~!!^^ It's not so bad~!! Torque is good~!!👍😁👍

So far, so good. Only real complaint after this long running it is that the steering is just not 100% straight. Otherwise all is working well!
Very nice video big thumbs up my friend XD
That looks tough as hell w/o the body. I’d run it like that
It really does, I agree!
Maybe I'll make a video like that.
Seems easy and straight forward. Good thing you had an engineering degree and hours and hours to work with for that... ugh!
EXACTLY!
Good info 😉

Thanks for sharing. Those are probably a better alternative than what I chose.
Just talked me out of getting one 💩
If ease of maintenance is high on your list, I would not recommend it.
Get an X-maxx instead!
@@RoadsideRC nah I already have a cen reepet and a dbxle .but I rhink rhese do look cool 😎
I agree...because for 800 dollars we want fun not work.
I think xmaxx is way easier to work on. Hmm
Yes, 100% easier to work on!
cylas gionette Advincula and way better than that Losi trash sorry🤣
Your servo horn too long!!!
You are correct. However, it is the only servo horn I could find that would fit that servo.
For this point my Yeti XL is easier to Work on!
Yes, I do agree.
