The reason I put Spurs on Eby is because without, sonny will not move. He’s super lazy and not crazy sensitive off the leg. As you can see in the video - even with leg glued on, he wasn’t budging. Eby is also not a total beginner, she just froze up a little when on board and got a little nervous but she did an amazing job. Any ignorant comments will be removed.
I know you're an equestrian channel, but I think you should do something different like house tour, introducing parents, roommate (or freind) tag, etcetera.
I love how you’re so concerned about whether or not Eby is okay but at the same time the pure shock on your face at how well she sat it😂 she has a better seat than some of my friends who’ve been riding their whole lives!
I just jumped my 22y/o Grade (unknown mixed breed) pony over a tiny jump. It wasn’t in a jumping saddle, it was in an English pleasure saddle. God help the poor old thing I screwed up position so bad 😂
She did good, these horses know who’s riding them and Sonny figured out even at the tac up , what the deal was. This horse is a highly skilled and disciplined horse but he was playing up a bit. Props to eby for even getting on, a bad experience with a horse can set you back years
It takes a lot courage to get on an advanced horse so she did really well! It’s also fun to watch you instructing! 🙌🏾 Great vid & love this kind of content X
This reminds me so much of when I first rode on a dressage horse coming from a riding school horse. It’s so different and not at all easy. You have to be super alert to your leg aids, seat, balance and rein pressure. But Eby please do not feel discouraged, Erin makes it look super easy as if she is just sitting there but it takes so much skill to actually be able to keep your leg and arms still so you can give those small dressage aids. Taking some private lessons where you get all the attention will really help with both skill and confidence. It would be fun to have a series of Erin teaching Eby to ride!

A friend recently asked me if I could teach them to ride on my horses...this popped up at the right time. Perfect example of why it's best to say no and refer them to a school horse lol.
it was the lunge whip going above her head that spooked him, not his fart. hes feeling ebys tenseness and then saw the whip coming from an unfamiliar angle. the fart was caused by the spook lol. that being said she sat that very well

Your friend has an amazing figure like yourself, I too think she did extremely well especially as she has had a little experience and Sunny is a very big horse! So no matter how good a rider you are to get on a strange horse takes guts, I think you both did Great and you are a very patient instructor, and confidence giver to your friend. Well done girls xx

I would personally never put spurs on beginners because their legs are everywhere and they tend to be a bit harsh with their legs plus they don’t really learn how to use their leg correctly, it would be better for you to carry a whip but oh well it’s your horse🤷🏻♀️
That‘s exactly why he was almost running off in the trot. Her legs were everywhere and it really bothered me a lot. I also have a really lazy and old horse but after lunging him for a few minutes you can totally ride him without spurs. 🙃
anyways, throughout tge entire video your horse has a consistent pain face- his anxiety ramps up noticeably as soon as the saddle-pad is brought closer, and begins pawing. throughout the tack-up process he licks and chews (a behavioural tell tale of coming down from stress) and as soon as hes near the mounting block his tail begins going crazy, his eyes wake up, and he holds himself very rigidly, his rating on the grimace scale going from a 2 to a 3 immediately. when tightening the girth he pulls back and snaps, which could be a tell-tale of ulcers considering his constant pain face, or poor saddle fit. The reason your horse doesnt want to respond to leg pressure is because he's shut down emotionally and is trying to avoid further pain. adding pain (spurs, especially on a beginner) to combat this is a recipe for disaster as the horse is in freeze mode. you said youd delete any negative comments, but i beg you to listen to your horse and his tells of pain and anxiety. have a wonderful day
Also (in my humble opinion) the bridle was way too tight, you could see his tongue hanging out not being able to pull it back in. I‘ve been learning from a lot of very good osteopaths and there are quite a lot of things that really bothered me.
On ponit. I thought, that I am the only one seeing this. Horses are screaming, but people don't want to listen. His behaviour is extremely clear! I've had sport horses before, but horse is still a horse, no difference. Thank you, be safe.
@@sophieklinger1124 my horse also has his tongue sticking out, almost all the time. he has really bad short teeth as hes a rescue so his tongue cant stay in his mouth.
@@graceconnolly5765 Yeah but there‘s still a difference between that and putting on a flash strap so tight he can‘t even properly lick or chew. He‘s clearly showing signs of pain and refusal while being tacked up. I‘ve explained in another comment that we‘ve been using the flash strap wrong for decades and many horsed died because of such tight straps. He‘s clearly in pain in the nose/mouth area if you look closely, he doesn’t even like the slightest touch which mean he probably has problems with his teeth or he‘s so tense from wrong or too tight gear. I also get that you want to decide when riding your horse but if a horse is so clearly in pain it‘s just the best not to. I‘ve had to learn it the hard way with my horse…
