I’m a very beginning Knitter, coming from Crochet. I’m glad to discover your videos. Instructions are clear, visual is closeup, and you have a pleasant voice. Thank you for demonstrating in Continental style.🧶🌻
Started knitting again after multiple very long (more than a decade the first break) breaks from knitting and completely forgot to knit/purl from the back loop of the last stitch to avoid those huge holes. I pull my yarn, but the tension never really comes out right, because my health makes knitting steady difficult (why I'm practicing). I found your YT channel today and love these patterns, and never guessed how much I would learn from a single short pattern video. THANK YOU❣
This question will quite clearly reveal that I am very much a beginner. I have watched the tutorial for this pattern at least 10 times and have looked up definitions for the abbreviation that I did not know. Then I have tried multiple times to get step 4 right so that I end up with 1 knit stitch at the end. Every time I ended up with 2 stitches left. Arg. Then last night, albeit, it was late and I ended up with 2 extra stitches so that my swatch was only 11 stitches, I now have 13. That's when I threw in the towel and decided I needed to contact you. Here is the instruction that has me befuddled: K1, wyif sl1 pw, yb. It seems straightforward enough and I happily move along until I get to the end. Sigh. Thank you for any help you can provide. I really love the pattern and do not want to give up on it.
Lovely pattern and thank you for doing the demo for both Continental and English knitters. I knit both and I knit English in the more efficient way, to Flick instead of Throw.
Thank you! Been knitting for a week today (inspired by Tom Daley) and this is my new favourite stitch pattern. I really like the slip stitch on row 3! Nice to have a rest from purling and I get through that row in no time. You are right that this pattern is easy to memorise, is easy to do and looks great. 🪢 🧶 🧵 🪡
The vast majority of people who bother to consider a knitter, assume if Grandma could do it, it has to be as intellectually basic as an illiterate farmer’s wife could be expected to handle. Truth is, high achievers, ambitious and creatively driven intellectuals are crazy about working out this 3 dimensional, multi coloured pieces of architecture. You’re in that category for certain! It takes a very clear, focussed mind to conceive such artistry in your meticulous and rhythmical manner!
Love your tutorials, you make them so easy. Thank you for the Diagonal, just started a wide scarf, however, now I’ve found this stitch….l think I changed my mind. 😖 xx
It might get confusing because there's no row 0? The last stitch thru the back loop is how you do it is confusing also. Thanks for sharing it's a beautiful stitch. I'm a crochet trying to learn how to knit.
The setup row or row cero is not so frequent. Working the last stitch through the back loop is optional, it works better for me 😉 Enjoy your knitting journey!
Ive tried it again but still doesnt look like the pattern. The wrong side looks different and the set up row creats a different border. Dont know where the problem is
Hansen Hosni the wrong side does look differently from the right side I’ve just knitted a beautiful pale lemon scarf using this pattern it’s gorgeous hope this helps x
I love this pattern and the calm and gentle way that you have in the way that you teach. I do have a question and would like to email it to you, if that is possible. I could not find an address to use.
I love the stitch and your tutorials! I have one question about the last stitch of the set up row. You say that you like to purl or knit every last stitch in the back loop, but only show that in the set up row. Is this something you do only with a set up row?
Thank you! Exactly, only on the first row (which in this case is the set up row). It’s a way to tighten up this last stitch, that normally is too loose 😉
Hi! Next to the title of the video, you’ll see the word “more”. Click on it and the description box will appear. You’ll find the link to my website there 😉 Happy knitting❣️
I love the look of this stitch. My question is, you purled through the back loop on the last stitch of row zero, but not any of the other rows. Is there a reason for only doing it in the set-up row?
I am a crocheter and new to knitting. Thank you for showing continental style. I'm confused though by this pattern. If I repeat from row 1 every time I do not get the small squares. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?
Hi, in the finished sample at beginning and end of video, has it been blocked and stretched out? I've tried it with 2 to 3 repeat rounds and my work doesn't look like your finished sample at all. Please rescue me huhu
She didn't stress how you need to keep the tension correct. This might be your problem. Every time you slip a stitch, you need to ensure that the yarn is not pulled tight across the gap. Always keep the stitches on your right needle spread normally so that the yarn at the back is not tight.
Hi 👋🏼 I am a beginner with the basket stitch. I have finally gotten the stitch however, when adding it to a vest I am making I have had to start over and over because it comes out on the wrong side. What am I doing wrong? How can I add the basket stitch on a pattern already started? Thank you.
Unless I'm doing something wrong, this is not a stretchy fabric so I don't see using it to knit a sweater. However, it will make fantastic dish/wash cloths!
Thank you for mentioning your experience with this stitch, as I am on the hunt for different and good texture stitches to use for my washcloths. ♡ I've tried using 10 row panels of seed stitch, 1x1 rib stitch and stockinette - with a 5 row and 5 stitch garter stitch border.
When knitting a larger piece. Will you just continue the pattern of knit one, slip one, knit one, slip one and so on. Or will you have to do 4 rows knit all and then start again?
I love this one! Thank you for sharing! I am just wondering what yarn size and needle size did you use one the white final product? My yarn size 5 and needle size 5 didn’t turn out with the same look as your white one.
I really like the look of this pattern. If I were working in the round, do you think it would work with using an even number of stitches? I'm making a slouch hat with a bulky yarn. Thank you for this pattern, and I might just try a few rows on the hat just to see. 🤗🧶🙈hopefully it will work😁
Hi Carol, thank you for your comments. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think that could work (don’t forget to change the purl rows into knit rows). Please let me know 😉
Hi! Im trying to make a blanket using this pattern. I have medium 4 wool & the label says that US 7 needles would produce 4x4 swatch with 16 stitches. But im not sure how many stitches to cast on to make a blanket for a new born baby. Do you have any suggestions?
What happens after the row of one knit slip one, one knit slip one.. Do you just continue like that? Or do you knit all and then start the process again

I think the extra loop for the purl stitch is what made two more loops. I haven’t tried this yet but I assumed it would be the reason why.
4th row) K1, yarn forward, slip 1 pearl wise, yarn back, knit 1
The yarn forward is to match the yarn (loop) of the 3rd row....
❤fun thanks 4 posting this tutorial on how to for a beginner❤️
My pleasure! Happy knitting 🤗❣️

Often the last stitch from the cast on row is big. Kabob tightens it up
Hi
@@lynnecampbell5608 What is Kabob please?
Love your tutorials ❣️🧶. I would love to see a scarf pattern in all the multiples of common stitching. Like a Sampler Scarf.
I am a crocheter and new to knitting. Thank you for showing continental style. I'm confused though by this pattern. If I repeat from row 1 every time I do not get the small squares. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?
It’s a four-row repeat pattern. Please take a look at the written instructions: sowoolly.net/how-to-knit-the-basket-stitch-chunky-and-cozy/
Thanks I think I can do this .. I been wanting to learn a new pattern for a while now.

@@sowoolly 100% acrylic and 5mm needle. I was trying out the pattern in a bigger swatch.

Hi I like this pattern & you showed well but as beginner like to know how much stitches to cast for 36 bust line pl do reply Thanks
What size needle do I use for this project? Can this pattern be used for a scarf, if so how many stitches should I cast on?
The pattern demo is not the same as what it’s meant to be.....
When knitting a larger piece.
Will you just continue the pattern of knit one, slip one, knit one, slip one and so on.
Or will you have to do 4 rows knit all and then start again?
Can I have a pattern book so I can follow
I’m working on it 😉
Hi, could you please show this stitch using two colour yarns?? I'm trying it with two colours however, I'm unable to get the same pattern.. plz help
I just wanted to ask why there is a row 0 when you said to follow the 4 row pattern (rows 1-4)? Thank you
because the main part of the pattern is a 4 row repeat, the only part of the pattern that should be repeated is the rows 1-4 ❤️
Brilliant video, thank you 😊 🙏
Have you tried it ? I am not getting the same pattern ) =
Do you have a ladies Cardigan pattern using this stitch please
No, I have a basic cardigan pattern where you can use this or any other stitch: ruclips.net/video/Mmf_iyAGRis/видео.htmlsi=boZU-ge0bWyo762B
I love her explanation but mine weren't coming out right. Is it possible I need to relax my tension? (Fairly new knitter)
Thank you for teaching us.
Is this basket stitch different to basket weave stitch?
