I thought it was a good ending. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall”. The general might have been able to get his way in court against the Indians, but being all high n mighty, he decided to go his one way and got killed by the Indians. We don’t see the battle, only the general riding back into town, already stabbed.
