Climbing ropes are like seat-belts. They restrain you can be used a number of times for falls. Via ferrata sets are like airbags. They are a one use, only and then you get a new one.

Seriously impressive. That's an absolute massive fall.

When I bought my edelrid kit 4 years ago, the only informational videos were dropping log off to an anchor, or some rare footage of someone deploying the lanyards under duress. Thank you for this informative video.

Great video! I particularly like this informative video because I’ve heard many friends just saying that there is no risk since you are attached to something... well wrong! This video shows how badly it can go! I love the idea, but each of us know where our comfort zone is. This is too much for me. Yes I would love the thrill but doing something while you’re thinking about falling all the time is not for me 😅

I guess you can usually reclip the carabiners as soon as you reach the anchor point with extended arms. In this demo, the falling factor is much greater than that way...

@@Trombonauta Thank you for the info! By the way, since my last comment which was 3 years ago I managed to overcome the fear of via ferratas, I’m even surprised about my own words in the comment I made 😂 I’m now managing C parts which would have been unthinkable before. Thanks for commenting so I could remind myself how far I came ☺️

why don't you guys experiment a carabiner that has a system like a jumar but for iron ropes ...?? that you can clip it as usually or use it like a jumar for iron ropes, so you can't fall over 2 metres !

See the Skylotec Rider 3.0 - unfortunately not available in the USA yet.

@@BackcountryPilgrim That was exactly what I was talking about !!! the Skylotec Rider 3.0 is a great great device , so sad that is very expensive. I think it should be sold also as a standalone device and not with the antire kit ... I think the first company that will design an hardware like the Skylotec as an upgrade for existing kits for 80/90$ , will rule the market! it's a life changing device , why you have to fall over 6-7-8 metres when you can just stop right where you are, 1-2 metres

Would you dare test this system in a gym with yourself in a harness?
