I watch all the IGN podcasts and enjoy them but the Game Scoop! crew is my favorite!
It's Sam. He's just so hilarious.
Same
Game Scoop and the Playstation podcast are top tier
@GN Online Gaming nah game scoop and unlocked! (console podcast wars lol 🤣)
IGN makes non-gaming podcasts? Since, you know, Game Scoop is the ONLY gaming podcast.
Street fighter 2. It was better then the original in all aspects and it popularized the fighting game genre. And most of the basic move set are still use in modern 2D fighting games. The cultural gaming impact of street fighter 2 from the music to iconic characters is also still felt till this day.
Amazed this wasn't mentioned. Hands down the greatest sequel of all time imo.
👍👍
The Scoop crew aren't big fighting game fans I guess, but that's ok, they were pondering their favorites, not the most influential
The only objective right answer.
So simple yet so brilliant
Best Sequel- Mass Effect 2.
Not only does it build upon the amazing story of the 1st game, it introduces multiple new and amazing characters and gives them and returning characters rich individual stories. While also making large improvements in combat and streamlining RPG elements.
2nd place- The Last of Us part 2
Giant leap in visual fidelity, movement options, and combat, while introducing large open world areas with optional side content, and an experimental 3 day structure divided between 2 character perspectives. While upping the ante in terms of level design and cinematic action moments.
2 of my favourite sequels as well. 👍👍
I know, how did they skip over both of these.
Alucard was created by Universal Studios somewhere in the 1940 for the movie Son of Dracula.
Finally!!! It’s a late arrival this week, but definitely worth the wait! Time to enjoy an hour of laughs, gaming talk and positivity with the only gaming podcast in the world! Nicely job and I’m already counting the moments til Game Spook next week. Always my favorite episode each year!!
Not the only one 👍👍👍
Best sequel? Diablo II. There are some other contenders, but this game remains a masterpiece to this day and brought about skills trees, seasonal events, online ladders, and no other subsequent ARPG has perfected such a varied and fun loot system.
B-Roll is top notch 👌
My favourite 4th wall break is in the game ‘Black and White’. If you’re playing after midnight the game scans your computer name and tries to match it to a bunch of common first names. Then a voice (probably supposed to be a villager who is praying) starts quietly whispering your name to you over your PC speakers. Imagine how creepy it was for me to start hearing the game whisper like a ghost late one night: “Peter… Peter…”
Uncharted 2 for me (2nd favorite game of all time), Pokemon silver (top 5) and portal 2 for me. If super Mario world counts, that's up there for me
Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game of all time but we know all about that debate. Honestly, though, I think Half-Life 2 is the greatest sequel ever. Expanded and improved everything the first game established, from gameplay, story, graphics, etc. It also gave birth to one of my favorite gaming experiences: Garry's Mod.
I love how much Shadowgate music is consistently played on Game Scoop! Nicely job, Daemon.
There's many great sequels:
Resident Evil 2
Halo 2
Half Life 2
The Last of Us 2
Mass Effect 2
Mega Man 2
Red Dead Redemption 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Silent Hill 2
Super Smash Bros Melée
Halo 3, Lort RotK, Battlefront 2, Revenge of the sith, Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Ocarina of Time is my favorite game of all time so that would have to be my best sequel. If it has to be a #2 than Resident Evil 2.
Both excellent games. Do you prefer the original or remake of RE2?
@@PeterAtkinson both are great. I think the remake is the best of old and new
@@shanewilt1 I agree Resident Evil 2 the best sequel.
1:00:20 small correction. I think Tina meant to say to watch Squid Game with the "English" subtitle option, and NOT the "English CC" since those are more based on the English dub.
Finally Game Scoop is Back!!!! Is the show still available on the podcast app? The last available show is July 2….🤷♂️ just wondering…love the show.
I been listening to The Pixel Corner, damn that guy knows his stuff and has guests on from the gaming industry.
They been dropping shows every week as usual it's just uploaded to the IGN Games channel instead of the original Game Scoop one.
Red Dead2, Witcher 3, God of war 2018, Uncharted 2. San Andreas, Fallout3, Re4.
My top 5 sequels of all time, in no particular order are:
- Donkey Kong Country 2
- Batman Arkham City
- Uncharted 2
- God of War (2018)
- Age of Empires 2
God of war is the 4th title in that series, and that’s if you don’t count the psp games
@@Stillhovering they never said the second game in a series, just a sequel. 👍
@@PeterAtkinson ok but I’m pretty sure they are using only the second games in the series
@@Stillhovering they mentioned games that aren’t second in the series.
@@PeterAtkinson which ones ?
Three of my top 10 games are sequels. Portal 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Donkey Kong Counrty 2.
My favorite video game sequel is The Witcher 3 which is my favorite game of all time. It is also one of the greatest sequel of all time by following Witcher 2 and beeing without question a bigger and better game than his predecesors.
Re4 and silent hill 2 are tied for my personal favorite sequels
Damn I forgot about SH2, great picks though I 100% agree!!!
………………… Big Tony Style🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love it
Ken Griffey Jr's baseball is my fave 4th wall. After a few moments of inaction the ump turns, taps the screen, and says "play the game, kid"
My Bloody Valentine is great! Classic 80s horror. I'm personally currently rewatching all the Elm Street movies.
I think uncharted 2 is the best squeal to a game of all time. I'd also put uncharted 1 to 4 as the best game series of all time period. Followed closely by metal gear solid series 1 to 4
DOOM Eternal, then Uncharted 2
Yeah I was thinking Uncharted 2 as well. 👍👍
Uncharted was one of the greatest games when it came out. But the thing is it hasn’t really aged well. The modern tomb raider games have out-uncharted the uncharted games in terms of gameplay.
@@jamesyu5212 you must be crazy bro lol tomb raider games have nowhere near out uncharted uncharted!!
I agree with all of these but for me it was dead space 2
street fighter 2 and uncharted 2
Street Fighter 2 as a direct sequel was so good it made the original irrelevant
@@thomaspena1308 totally agree! Most haven't even played the original
For 4th wall breaks... I barely remember the game, but Torin's Passage, an old Sierra adventure game on PC, had a moment in which your cartoon cat sidekick thing reached from the game into your UI. I remember that very clearly, it kind of blew my mind as a kid.
The name Alucard was first used in the 1940's film "Son of Dracula". I'm not sure if there were any books about Alucard prior to the film.
Love the conversation with 4th wall breaks when Inscryption literally just came out, from the makers of Pony Island which also breaks the 4th wall pretty well
RDR2 & Dishonored 2 lead my present sequels.
Dying Light 2 looks to be a helluva challenger to that discussion.
Witcher 3, Mass Effect 2, Red Dead 2 & Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are a few that spring to mind, all massively improved on the previous games in the series
About games breaking the 4th wall, I highly recommend this one "There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension" ( on PC/IOS/Android/Switch I believe )
Speaking of numbers @10:00, always wanted someone to ask during 20 questions if the title of the game has a number in it.
Earthbound would be my personal pick for best sequel because I love that game, but it could be argued it is almost a remake in a lot of ways so I would go with Diablo 2 as the true greatest. It is a true sequel, it picks up after the first game, it improves all elements of the first game including game play and graphics while keeping the essence of the original intact. Another reason I would consider it the greatest is that many many people think it is a better game than it's own sequel Diablo 3. I personally don't agree but can totally see their points and they are valid. And lastly, tons of people play the game to this day and it just had a remaster released and it is basically just the original game with an ultra high res filter running over it otherwise gameplay is unchanged and people love it. I recently found my old copy of D2 and looked up how to get it running on my pc and I must say it was a huge pain in the ass but totally worth it. Bone Spear Necro is back to grinding baby! D2 is the perfect sequel.
The steam deck is going to become my xbox game pass machine
Same and steam library machine
Sam with the MBV shout, man has excellent taste.
Have a great day/night to everyone in ign
You guys always bring tears of laughter to my eyes. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣. Gamescoop for the win .
God of War 2, Arkham City, Kingdom Hearts 2. All OG as fuuuuuk
Speaking about the numbered games, Zork had a sequel that was called Zork II
4th wall breaking game: X-men on the Sega Genesis. Reset the system, my all time favorite classic.
The best sequel is Mario Galaxy 2.
Disagree . The whole point of galaxy was to feel like you was moving around little planets the whole time and galaxy 2 pretty much binned it off
I’m playing breathedge, which was just recently added to gamepass. It’s like subnautica in space, with a lot more humor, 4th wall breaking, and references to other games.
38:25 The Return of the King
Tina my gf said she loves your hair. 💙
Yeah, your "girlfriend" said it!
Aw shucks, tell her thank you!
I remain a fan of Duke Nukem 3D after all theses years, one of the best sequels for me.
Tearaway breaks the fourth wall, the game acknowledges its being controlled by a player and this factors into the story, and if you play on the Vita or a PS4 with a camera you appear in the sky (I played it on a PS4 without a camera).
If Death Stranding was only a timed exclusive it would be on Xbox by now.
My favourite sequel Titanfall 2.
It's on PC, FF7R is a timed exclusive and it still hasn't came to Xbox. Sony even got another timed exclusive for the Intergrade dlc expansion too lol. Making things real difficult for the Xbots out there!!!
@justindavis @daemonhatfield On the next podcast with Mark, Please inform him that during the FFX intro to Luca, the theater music from FFIX can be heard being playing in the FMV. Likewise, the Rufus Welcoming Ceremony can be heard playing in FFIX. That should be a fun reaction to watch.
the whole package, orange box was pretty amazing for sure. borderlands 2 i believe is pretty great, probably the peak for that series.
That screen is cool Justin, how does it work, and where did ya get it?
Wonder if the game scoop Facebook group will go nuts again after this episode! Love the show though, great stuff guys!
I got cyberpunk day 1 for my Xbox one x. Seen the disaster and that the cosmetics decisions I made were permanent so rebooted it and then decided to wait for next gen patch and haven’t touched it since. Kind of a bummer neither is making 2021. I still haven’t finished Witcher 3 and I want to.
is that the music from nightmare on elm street on the NES in the opening?
This why I love games an how diverse they are....for example I played through both Portals an think there fine...I wouldn't put them in any all time lists personally...but for some it's the greatest thing...so great
Only if more people thought like you in the gaming sphere.
Mass Effect 2, Assassins Creed 2.. lots more but would need to think.
Super Mario 3, Street fighter 2, burnout 2, unchated 2. Battlefield bad company 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Damn that's up there that completely slipped my mind lol.
@@jonnydaczko5894 😂
Fax
But isn't that technically a prequel? Jk, building off of last week's sequel argument.
@@AddMiller221 its An odd one Its like A prequel sequel.
Justin seemed irritated af about the sequel question.
Lol cuz he’s wrong and doesn’t know what a sequel is vs a series…
Zork 2 was the first sequel I played.
The original MGS had the controller swap against Mantis before the GameCube version did it Sam.
The best sequel of all time is of course Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Coincidentally the Greatest Sequel is Greatest Game of all time: MGS3
That's a trequel
@@judah_macabe it's technically a prequel
You're thinking of DOOM Eternal
Mgs3 is a perfect game!!!
@sam 56:37 what about "Tommy"?! Classic Pinball movie upon which the beloved 80s classic "The Wizard" is based.
Hunt the Wumpus 2 came out in the 70s
Mario bros 3 is my favorite sequel. It took the Mario franchise to a new tier level.
I got luigis mansion 3 after the 2nd question
Metroid Prime 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Donkey Kong Country 2
Def Jam Fight for New York. Arguably one of, if not the best wrestling games ever created.
My favorite sequels are:
Resident Evil 2
Kingdom Hearts 2
Uncharted 2
Mega Man X2
Ratchet and Clank Going Commando
Tales of Xillia 2
And favorite sequel -- meaning No. 2 in a series -- might be Suikoden 2.
Mass effect 2
I dunno, Portal 2 was phenomenal, but come on! Gotta be Mass Effect 2! :-)
So they are not letting the sequel controversy die down.😁😂🤣
Street Fighter 2 is the best sequel of all time so much so as no one talks about the original. When I first played it, I didn’t even know an original Street Fighter existed.
Defender II ... first arcade sequel?
I stopped halfway through cyberpunk so I could play the ps5 version too! Who knew we'd be waiting this long? Guess we can wait a little longer
I did the same thing, but for the series X version. Luckily it was on sale on the Microsoft store for $14.99 so for such a low buy in I’m content to wait and play other stuff.
Mario Kart 64 is the best sequel of all time
MASS EFFECT 2
That's another great choice !!!
donkey kong country 2: diddys kong quest
Lol, also watching Spooky Buddies this week since my 11mon old is learning about dogs and cats. So bad but....yeah
Thinking of Frankenstein's monster and whether it's a zombie etc, wouldn't he be classified as a flesh golem?
He's for sure a golem.
Fallout new Vegas-FO4
Black Mesa..
Uncharted 2 cuz it took a pretty mediocre game from a gameplay standpoint and turned it into something amazing. gears 2 as well although the first gears gameplay was already pretty solid
Sam, My Bloody Valentine are Irish!
Is Super mario rpg a sequel? If so, a sequel to which game?
I think it’s getting like this you need progression now. To be able to literally start the game and run and just grab some of the best gear in the game I think that does a lot to lessen the experience. When you play a game and it’s open world especially it helps to feel as if you’re growing as the world you’ve explored gets bigger and bigger and bigger.
4th wall breaking game mechanic? In Xmen on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. There is a point in the game when it tells you to reset the computer to progress. There are lots of computers in the room you're in but to progress to the final mission, you have to tap the reset button on the console. Imagine this with no guide or google search, horrible.
Also, any game with Deadpool. In Marvel vs Capcom he has a super where he beats his opponent to a pulp with their own health bar.
SUPER FRICKIN METROID 👌🏿 👏🏿
Best sequel? Diablo II. Runner ups? Sim City 2000, & Civilization II
I wish you'd consider streaming your coop gameplay whenever you play together. You don't need to converse with the viewers, but just stream your gameplay.
Alucard was Alucard way before castlevania
SPOOKY BUDDIES
How is Ori and the Will of the Wisps not here?
The best sequel is RESIDENT EVIL 4 and the new VR version just affirms that statement!!!
Hell yeah man
Silent Hill 2
Thanks Damien for let me know what the music you used for this video 😠
Mgs4 loading screens, snake will have a smoke and tell the player that its been awhile, maybe take a break
Halo 2
Best sequel no one mention SF2 or the wii u
Gears 2
In my opinion, Gears 2 is the best in the series
