Great video. I like your enthusiasm. Although I don't listen to them often, I do count audiobooks as reading. I agree with you that it's like listening to an audio play. But research tells us the brain behaves just the same with listening to audiobooks as reading physical books. But I always wondered what the fun is of listening to them at double or triple the speed. Although I read more European comics I do like some American comics. Bernie Wrightson (I've reviewed one of his comics a while ago) and Wallace Wood are my favorite American ComicBook artists.
I wanted to get into some French classic sic fi comics, but duh why not all of Europe!! I didn’t mean to go on an audio book rant. To each its own, what ever gets you off Netflix lol Thx for leaving a comment, your videos look right up my alley
I think I’m gonna have to save “the K bros” for next year, cause I just ordered War and peace and don’t wanna get Russia overload lol Just got back from the food bank but yeah that doesn’t count. Ill go touch grass sometime today 😎💫
hi, there. so you're a killjoy at your bookclub? me too! i think i told you that i'm an english/literature teacher. i really try to take off my english teacher hat when i read a book for my club but...sometimes it's hard. it's become a running joke that i don't like anything. this is a bit of an exaggeration as there are some books which i have greatly enjoyed. it's a small club of friends so it's all good. when i explain why i didn't like a book, the other members are polite enough to listen. they say they enjoy listening to my perspective which, after all, is what a book club is about. right? don't stress about not liking something. i don't think there's anything wrong with reading a book for enjoyment alone. typically, there are two reasons to read: for escape or for insight. i was drawn to reading from a young age because i wanted to escape. i grew up in the inner city and am from an immigrant family so basically we were kind of poor. alas, i never knew i was poor until much later. i am thankful for the public library which saved my life. all this is to say that i think you are drawn to books that provide...insight into life. correct me if i'm wrong! yay! i'm glad you liked gormenghast. i loved the first one but didn't enjoy the second one as much and never read the third one. it's been over thirty years since i read it though so maybe a rereading is due. there's just no time and lots of other stuff to read. then again, i'm not liking much of what i read these days so maybe rereading something i liked would be a good idea. i keep thinking when i retire, i'll just go back and reread all my favorites. i saw you have a video just about gormenghast. let's see if i have time today to watch that as well. i'll leave a comment when i do. it's great you are enjoying some comics. see, there's a time and place for escape reading. right? sf is full of the most amazing short fiction. some people don't like short stories but i love reading something that i can finish in one sitting. a good story has no fluff and should, when finished, drop an interesting idea into our brains for us to think about since sf is so often a commentary on society. just my two cents! delany is very interesting writer. i met him back in the 80s after he published stars in my pocket like grains of sand (which he inscribed and signed for me). this particular novel has a longish prologue that is really a novella in and of itself. i thought it was amazing and in my opinion he could have stopped right there. the book has an interesting history. please read more delany and share your thoughts. since you asked....i'm currently reading a cook's tour by anthony bourdain for my book club which meets this saturday. the writing is good but bourdain is kind of insufferable. he travels the world and tries to find the perfect meal. he's visiting a lot of places where i have lived and traveled so it's fun to see those places through the eyes of a tourist. i'm sure my book club won't be surprised to hear that i find the voice of the writer to be off putting. i have a good friend that is dying from a malignant brain tumor. guess where we think it came from? she worked at a "dirty" site when she was in the military. imagine that. fuckers are evil as a person who lived in a couple of places in africa and traveled widely there, all i can say is that what the west has done to africa is unforgiveable. i'll leave it there more money to the police? disgusting. we need to demilitarize the police gerrymandering by both sides is wrong. one of countless things wrong with america! here's hoping you get out and enjoy the day! cheers⭐
hi friend ⭐ the book clubs are really the best thing i got going for me in the way of meeting and talking to people, and yeah it would be weird if everyone liked everything. i do put my foot in my mouth a lot dont i , you're totally right i do turn my brain off for comics, duh. i never read any travel books but yeah honestly they seem snobbish. im gonna move up delany up my TBR so cool you met him, my ignorance is upsetting and i will get out more lol so sorry to hear about your friend and thank you for sharing everything you do about your life, it makes it so much more real hearing it from a real person. if there was any justice in the world those evil fucks would end up in a burn pit still breathing
⭐️ Another great video and news recap. It’s incredible how screwed we are. The world is completely f@cked.
Thx for the comment ⭐️, it helps YT when they decide if they promote my videos

Audiobooks is not reading so I agree with you. It’s another way to digest a story/book but it’s not the same as reading.
I try not to hate too much but when so many people do it four times speed it feels like cheating
🌟 Started with "The brothers karamazov - Dostojewski", dont know what to expect.
Have fun going outside 😎
