On 18th February 1943, Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans and their friend Christoph were arrested having been found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich. They were tried and four days later on February 22nd convicted of High Treason and executed by guillotine on the same day. Sophie was 21 years old when she died for her role leading dissent and active resistance to the rule of Nazi Germany. Their tools of revolution were words, paper and a printing press. After the students’ death the sixth leaflet of the movement was smuggled out of Germany and used by the Allied Forces, who showered millions of copies of Sophie’s work over Germany just a few months after her execution.
Sophie’s story is a true lesson in dissent and serves to remind us that we have a responsibility to ensure that we never sleepwalk into such darkness again.

I did not know the story of Sophie Scholl. Thank you for teaching me this.your video is so powerful, has left me shakey and weepy.Perhaps it is because of the events in my country this weekend, but the message of this really hit home for me. This past weekend, a young woman was killed while protesting a Nazi event near me... Sophie must have been very brave! I will try to learn more about her, today. I am so glad that you like this painting and the video in general, Dory!! Do you mean the things that happened in Charlottesville? I have to say that I am very concerned about what's going on in your country at the moment, but that is exactly why I paint these women - we must never forget. These are real role models and we can learn A LOT from them. We have to speak up and take action as long as we have the chance to do that.

You should definitely be truly proud of your artworks and videos.Reading the description and watching the video about her made me feel mixed emotions and emotional.A certain part of the video gave me like goosebumps and the chills. It does get a message across. Like how many more innocent people have to die for equal human rights,what is right and a peaceful world.That’s just my interpretation,thoughts and a part of what I got out of watching the video.This is the first time I’m learning about her story.She was very brave and courageous.Even just the pencil drawing looks incredible.I can’t get enough of how artistic this video is with the painting and the art supplies laid out.Teaching art and history.Not only you are a art teacher,you are a history teacher too.I love how you incorporated art,and history into this video because I like learning about those subjects.I can imagine you making it in history as an inspirational artist and being successful in your other chosen fields of interests.I think in a way you already have.I think you are one of my favourite German artists.Continue to inspire and create in different art forms,Oliver. Can I just ask you a question... what brend are your green brushes? they looks amazing and I need to change my brushes... they're old and from no brending... or do you have any suggestions of brushes brends for a young artist with a modest budget... thanks in advance!

I think these brushes are from "da vinci". That's a brand and I love their synthetic brushes. I live in Germany so I am not sure if you can buy them everywhere. I usually paint with synthetic brushes, because you can work very smooth and fine with them. Maybe you can get some and figure out if you like to work with them. :)
