This money is needed for other programs. If you’re running around with that much cash at the airport while we have millions of migrants coming in with no cell phones or down payments for homes, you don’t deserve to keep this amount of money. That is one event caused the other event even though there is no connection between the two events. hth
Our Congress will not let a bill to reform this procedure to make it fairer because DOJ, FBI and Sheriffs association is strongly lobbying against it. Approx 6 billion a year is being taken. These departments do not have any accountability with this money. It's has paid for training trips to Hawaii, parties with prostitution and pot and alcohol, buying commercial margaritas machines. ( documented ) These departments claim it for the fight against cartels but the average amount of money taken is around 2000. The process is so expensive to fight it costs you more than the money they take. Most of it is because the drug dogs reaction to money "smelling drugs". Approximately 85 percent of money has drug smell on it. It's both parties that is preventing reform.

The District Court dismissed most of the theories on motions by the defendants. The Government was not involved.
