Wow, I'm speechless. GP-9, two mechanical reefers and a lonely branch. Perfect. The drop at the end just made the video. SP will be missed. Thank you for sharing.

+Evan Gatewood Thanks Evan, I waited for a long time to post this video as the maneuver at the end of the video is frowned upon by the F.R.A. and I didn't want the employees to get into trouble.

I'm kind of flabbergasted that the guy manning the switch on the drop backs away just after the locomotive goes by, then realizes he still needs to line the switch for the car. Wondering if he was new to the job at the time?

He was seasoned enough to know how to quickly recover.....perhaps a b f? I'm certain his "fellows" ribbed him a bit on the way back to Exeter....

I remember in the late 80s I believe there was a spur that went into the rock quarry by Lemon Cove and a fishing pond that myself my bro and dad went to. Also seen these tracks pass Bravo Lake in Woodlake. Never did see a live train.

I came across your vid by accident a year ago, and just found i again after looking for it since! Always searched for "Orange Cove" cab ride or SP cab ride, not Visalia Electric. Great though to find it, absolutely an indispensable capture of a line that is so poorly documented.
You can still trace a lot of the line with Google maps, and its easy to see where Kaweah Citus siding was. I especially like the trip across the trestle at the quarry. The only thing left is the concrete pier in the middle of the creek. Thanks so much!

this should have been turned into a heritage trolley line with the electric poles having been brought back!

Great video. You wouldn't happen to be a retired law enforcement officer would you?

Is that all the footage from that line? Was hoping to see the ride through Woodlake. This is great by the way. Always wanted to see this line in operation. I'm a local truck driver and did many deliveries in that area and saw the line in the 1994 or so time when it was being removed. Thanks for bringing it to life for me :)

This is great footage!! I miss the old electric switching lines. Did you do some razoo image stabilization to this? For riding on an old, lightly railed line, the image is really stable, but I notice the bounding box moves around a lot.

Old timey branch line work never to be seen again.
