I just set up an Ally money market, investment, and savings account. The buckets are really neat. I also keep an emergency fund elsewhere for now just because it would be too tempting to mess with it. I don't want to see that account on a regular basis.
Love Ally! Only thing to remember is there is a limit of 6 transfers per statement cycle. I just hit it this month. So try to move funds from savings to checking strategically. 🙂
Thanks for doing this. I would emphasize that money in Ally isn’t immediately available (transfers take a couple days). So people should be aware that they should have money outside Ally available for instances where you need money immediately.
Yes, that's the case for all online banks. We set up a checking account with a debit card at Ally so we can use it in emergencies where we need the money immediately.
Correct, but know that if you use the Zelle feature to transfer money between banks, it’s instant and free. I use it all the time. I send money from my brick and mortar bank account to Ally instantly by “zelling” it to myself.
Thanks Jen! You are a great teacher!! I have been thinking about Ally for awhile and from watching different budgeting channels it seems like everyone who has it, likes it. So your information definitely helped me decide! You explain things so well!! Thanks again!!
I set up a ally account…Right after I set it up I was locked out of my account, couldn’t look at anything.. I called and they said down for maintenance..still can’t get through..anyone else have this problem..kind of scary for me..

Good call out, Jessica. That is a new factor for us to keep in mind now that we've moved from 18 separate accounts down to 1.
Would that statement cycle be per month ? I’m a newbie with Ally bank.

@@TheBudgetBounce That’s great information and a good workaround.

Watched this after DvsDebt recommended it. I use Ally too but I learned a couple things, thanks!
You're welcome!
I've opened an account a few months ago. Luv it 😍
Glad to hear it!

Thank you. 💜 I'm glad it was helpful for you!
Thanks for the breakdown. I was wondering how user friendly the site was.
I feel like it's pretty intuitive if you have a basic knowledge of how online banking sites work.
This is video is great!
