    The background I have on this tune. In many of the churches in the Highlands there was, at the front, A Stool of Repentance. Anyone from the community who had morally erred was made to sit there in order that they might be publicly shamed. A version of the Dunce's Cap. The tune is surely a piss take from a piper who refused to take this seriously. Surprised it is not a much older tune. For Highland soldiers in the 1800's, the worst dishonour was to have your name posted on the Church door for cowardice. No Highland man would ever shame his family thus. The smaller the community, the bigger the stigma. I've played this wonderful tune all my life, and I will never tire of it.

    The first and second tune are both 'The Stool of Repentance', just different versions (a 4-parted version and a 10-parted version)

    The Stool of Repentance comes after the Curry of Guilt.

    It is a variation of the Stool of Repentance. As he says at the beginning "then I'll break out into the 10 parted version..."

    How are these pipes different to the Northumbrian smallpipes - different tuning?

    what are you talking about? D throws can be executed many different ways to add emphasis or style. Check out Stuart L.s slow airs on his CD for note

    The frame-rate is too slow to see Jim's lightning High G-grace note finger pop off those excellent High-G plipity plips...

    @jestepher
    First off
    "that fat kid" is an open grade piper that also plays smallpipes
    He placed first in the hornpipe jig at a fairly large competition recently and I am willing to bet that he can play better than you so before you go calling people fat, consider who you're dealing with
    And he is a friend of mine so lay off
