Within temptation is a profoundly talented symphonic metal band and my second favorite overall next to Epica. As others I’ve already shared some details on Sharon and the band one other interesting fact is her arm and hand dancing stems from her youth growing up in Bali she was fascinated with the Balinese arm dancers and she has incorporated that into her live performances many times. Yes the black symphony suggestions are spot on, anything from that is just amazing
Also for a mix with growls and cleans, check the live version of The Other Half (of Me) with orchestra. It has George of Orphanage and MaYan (Marcela Bovio is also in this)
Haha, yes the number of sirens on our Dutchie shores is off the charts. Thanks to global positioning the number of shipwrecks plummeted but everybody over here knows abt the cause in the good ole days.. Of course, Zora today poses a novel threat to nautical security that even the most sophisticated GPS can't beat. So I won't recommend "Arms of the Ocean" ;)
I’ve seen WT soooo often live they are absolutely amazing! Last couple of years I’ve grown more towards nightwish because WT became a little less symphonic with the newer stuff, they are still fantastic though
Also, yes the singer is the same and also Ruud the guitarist is still with the band, and I think the bassist is also still there, but I think the other members on stage here are not in the band anymore. One is Sharon’s husband and he stepped back to take care of their three kids
@@renskevanderhaagen5813 the keyboardist Martijn who’s still with the band to this day. He replaced the original one who had to step down due to health reason (he later founded Delain). They’ve had a change of Drummer, from 2012, their drummer is Mike. They seem to have a very stable squad that gets along very well. Robert was replaced by Stefan who’s with the band to this day. So the only person whos not in the band is the drummer and Robert but he’s still with the band behind the scenes, writing and composing.

I knew they changed keyboard players because I know of delain , and I knew they changed the drummer and of course Robert. But was not sure on the time lines. I think most changes were quite early on and they have had this set up for quite long now, right?
There's a song live from black symphony, called somewhere.....a duet with another legend....like the Simone and Floor duets. You will have seen her in ayreon. Sure I spelled that wrong as usual lol.
I think Robert said that the growling shredded his voice and it was too hard and he did not think he was good enough although in this production he was. So they always after that had standing Growlers after like 2002
Although here while his voice was still in good condition, his growls sound sooo good and in studio as well. Sounds more like an extreme vocal fry than an actual growl. I personally really love it

I saw them live this month which is 20 years after this video here and unbelievably, they have even more energy nowadays. Absolutely fantastic.

Oh! This is the early, dark and Gothic Metal Within Temptation, now their style had changes, Symphonic and a little Pop sound

I'll never complain when you do within temptation nightwish Sabaton epica Kamelot etc. Do try the black symphony live with the metropole orchestra.

WT is better live than studio IMO. Anything from this tour is good, especially "The Promise" from Rock Werchter
