Fun fact: konpeito was made around 16th(?) century from portuguese sailors that stayed in japan since it was a simple way to get sugar in your system (sailor's have so many nutrition problems oof) and japan adapted them including the name (original confeito) and made them cute colorful stars. They remind me of those paper folded stars in jars.
