I appreciate your videos. I like that you are frank about the quality of 25-year old kei trucks and the way that they can be feasibly used in North America. I have a 1997 Acty and I love it. It stays within a 10 mile radius of my house (40mph zone max), it's garage parked and I am prepared to repair it myself. I also have another car as backup, a bicycle and could walk or ride a bus to work. I would not have purchased this vehicle and could not imagine owning it if I did not have these ideal conditions. It is utilitarian, but it is not the most practical way be utilitarian. It's a toy, a cute luxury and something to wait for until you can manage it. Also, very dangerous over 45mph. I know the Reddit hotshots disagree. I really like your assessment. Your ranking and feature video is a must watch too.

I have a 1990 Suzuki Every Super Multi Roof. It has a 5 speed manual shift with 4 wheel drive, that gives you a 6th extra low gear when in 4wd. It is turbo charged and intercooled and fuel injection and It has air conditioning. I live in a smaller city in Florida and drive it around town for my chores. It’s fun to drive and gets in the upper 30’s for mileage, it would probably do better if I stayed out of the turbo. I’ve moved groceries, plywood, tools and people. It has had a couple issues but they’re not that hard to work on but sometimes finding parts is hit and miss. The KYB shocks on the back are for a ‘70 beetle, stuff like that. I love this van and wish I got it sooner. I wouldn’t take it on the highway but it serves its purpose well for me.

That's a great version of the Every -- one which is rare to find in nice, rust-free condition! The Multi Roof, like the Subaru's counterpart, can have issues with wearing the sliding track gears out, but keep them cleaned and lubed and they'll last.

We learned that on a 4 runner. Clean the tracks and keep them lubed.

I've been researching my Subaru Sambar van for over a year. And I just ordered one 2 weeks ago, I live on a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico and there are no roads here where you can travel over 45 mph.
I may take it to the main island occasionally but I will be sticking to the secondary roads instead of the highway.
One of the deciding factors with going with the Subaru was watching you drive The Sambar van in one of your videos, I too am a big guy and figured hell if he can drive one I can too.
And being a mechanic I'm not too afraid to work on it when the time comes.
    We love your Channel.
Keep up the good work and take care.

    Thank you, Sam.
Question: If one got a 1998, and a new 2024 Sambar, then migrated the 2024 parts onto the 98 frame (VIN) would it still be street legal?

If you're talking about the United States, a 2024 Sambar (or its major component parts) would get seized at the port of entry, so it is a moot point.

People can buy new mini’s for “off road use only”.

@@cahsin3 Most who try this plan get their imports seized, because DHS is trying to stop the very thing you are trying to accomplish. Check with your customs broker first, because using any of the non-age-exempted running gear or body parts is technically illegal.

in honolulu, they are very popular - especially among my farmer friends who use them to haul small loads. one of them got into an accident on the freeway and i happened upon the aftermath... although i think theyre cute and wonderful there is ZERO CHANCE i will ever put myself, my workers, or my family in one.
