I actually pair my Airpods with my Pixel 2 XL and bought them with the intention to pair them with Android (had a 6P at the time.) I just really like the form of them and how easily they charge in the case. I wish the Pixel Buds came closer to that level of elegance.

Because the Apple ear/airpod form factor is just about the only one that's comfortable for me, and I'm getting sick and tired of wires or headphone jacks breaking. (Literally the only electronics that seem to not have the will to live when I'm around)
I'd say that's up to you, really. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to an iPhone user but you have to really determine whether or not you want it for Android because it's not "officially" supported. In the end, I determined that the form factor is enough to win me over.
SDG Danny I have used their earpods in the past and didn't mind the limited functionality, but then again those were only $30. Thanks for your reply, I'll have to think on it :')

It was going to be 2017S until Apple skipped it and introduced MMXVIII instead. At least Marques here made the lesser mistake, because imagine if he called the year Em Em Ecks Vee Eye Eye Eye!
I’m an android user but I still use airpods. The case charges them like 4-5 times which is way more than most or all of the earbuds shown. Also incase you’re wondering, The AirPods come stock with both earbuds double tapping to open Siri, but as long as you get a friends iPhone or something and pair it to that temporarily, you can permanently change the airpods double tap setting. My right AirPod skips the song and my left goes back a song, still works on my android you just need to customize it on an iPhone once.
jalal majid Pretty much by using your phone. There's no way to increase volume on the airpods. If you want to on iPhone, you have to ask Siri. But it's impossible on Android.
jalal majid Hopefully, the stock is long enough they could've implemented a swipe up and swipe down mechanism. Maybe they couldn't figure out how to fit that and the battery.
Flexible tips will always win for me, because hard inner ear pieces hurt. I never really thought I had sensitive ears, but I must since so many people can use ear and AirPods with no issue.
I personally don't like the soft type of earphones, that never sticks in my ear, instead, I prefer the hard one, that's why even though I am an Android user (I switched from Apple to Samsung), I still use Apple's earphones.
The best feature of airpods in my opinion is that I now carry earphones with me all the time, something I don't think any of the other options would enable. The size of the case is a huge advantage for the airpods. I never used to carry around earphones because the cable would always get tangled in my pocket and all the other wireless options would need to take up most of a pocket which isn't possible because I keep my phone and wallet in the available pockets so there wouldn't be room. However the airpods case is small enough to fit in the mini pocket most jeans have above the right pocket that I think is normally for a lighter or something.
Exactly the same reason why I carry them so much. I agree completely that the portability is the best feature of the AirPods. I use them with an Android phone and I think it's just fine. There are apps in the Play Store these days for the little battery popup and for google assistant, so that's all covered. Still may not have as many features as others (or when using with iOS) but I still think they're the best true wireless buds, for any platform really.
Andrew Chen If you’re wearing them around your neck you don’t have the battery case along with them limiting playtime to 5 hours and requiring you to plug them in every night. Also I personally can’t stand a cable tie bouncing around if I’m working out especially not while running.
J T The icon x has horrible battery life according to every review I’ve seen and it has the same problem as the other AirPod competitors, the battery case is too big, I’d have to put it in the same pocket as my phone or wallet and keys. If I wanted to keep them on my person there’d be an obnoxious bulge on one of my quads. The icon x would be in the same pile as the rest of the earphones I don’t use because they aren’t on me when I want them.
Literally everything he said he liked about the airpods is true about the 2018 iconX. Plus they sound better, and are better for working out, and have onboard storage.

After 3 months the Icon X 2018s still impress me as they did the day I bought them, worth looking into if you're an Android user, especially so if you use a Samsung device
I love my AirPods, got them at launch and I'm insanely happy with them. I have wired over-ear headphones for when I am at home and some nice studio monitors hooked up to my record player and mac for listening so I'm somewhat picky about sound quality, but you cannot overrate the portability AirPods offer, you can go cycling in the woods and wear them and after a few minutes they just seem to disappear. It's like being able to just add music to your everyday life, you don't feel them, you don't see them and they don't limit you while doing things. The closest thing to AirPods is using cheats in GTA to use the radio even when your walking etc.
I am used to spending a little more for good headphones; I am currently using the Sennheiser PXC 550. So I don't consider 150€ for good headphones to be overly expensive. I tried the AirPods and I think as far as sound goes they are alright. They obviously don't have as much punch as over ear headphones like my Sennheisers, they don't sound awful though. They sound perfectly fine, just a little boring. Nothing some software EQ settings can't fix I bet. But you don't buy these for the sound quality alone. You buy them because they are convenient. So I wouldn't call them the best wireless headphones. I'd call them the most *convenient* wireless earbuds by far. Oh and by the way, here in Germany I am seeing them everywhere as well.
This needs a sequel soon. Now with the new Pixel Buds, updated Airpods, and numerous new contenders, such as the Ticpods, it would be very interesting to see your thoughts on the scene.

Had my AirPods for about 3 weeks. The biggest drawback is the latency on the iOS RUclips app. Just really noticeable. Had the Jaybird X3 for a week but they were way worse. Really hoping for Bluetooth latency to be eliminated one day.
JasonMcGhan I got myself a Klipsch R6 BT. It has aptx. Latency is barely noticeable so I’d say it’s not something you’d notice. Maybe you can give it a try.
Ryan Zijlema Buy the 2018 Gear IconX in grey color, not even kidding they absolutely can look like hearing aids and several people have told me the same while I was wearing one lol. I'm kind of bummed he didn't review them in this video since they seem like they're exactly what he's looking for as an Airpod alternative, my connection is rock solid with unnoticeable delay but that might be cause I also have an S8. Plus one of the smaller cases and it has USB C!
For the Pixel buds, you do not have to ask Google assistant control volume. You have to swipe foward or backwards to control volume. To get the translation working, gotta have Google translate app installed, and then ask Google assistant on your earbuds "be my translator" and wallah
The case is also a lot easier to use than he makes it seem. They have clear instructions on how they intent you to wrap the cord, and it never takes more than 2 or 3 seconds to put it away properly.
omg, when he said ,,Marques, are you changing your tone on this?" my phone judt went into the blue colour filter automatically so it changed the tone to slightly yellow. It was an amazing timing
When I bought the AirPods quite early I heard many people talk about them. I was the only one in my class to own a pair and almost everybody had a complaint about it. “They look like toothbrushes” “It sticks so far out” “That’s so much money for that crap”. I didn’t care because the ease of use with these are just amazing. Pop open the case, put them in your ears and start playing music. Take one out or double tap it and the music or video is paused. Put it back in the case and they are charging again. It’s just so simple to use them. I only have to charge them once in every two weeks or so and that just blows my mind... The same people that were complaining then, own a pair right now. Around 7 people in my class own a pair of AirPods and when I asked them if they liked them or not they said “I love them”. Even people that switched later on to Android still use them.
Welcome to every Apple invention ever. "iPhone? You'll accidentally touch the giant screen!" "iPad? It's just a giant iPod touch!" "Apple Watch? What an ugly square!" "AirPods? They'll fall out your ears!" "HomePod? Looks like toilet paper!"
AirPods are imo incredible for androids. While they seem to miss out on the tap controls and pausing on removal from the ear, with the help of third-party apps they regain that ability. This gives them the perfect airpod experience, minus the simple setup. However, they do pair immediately when you open the case after the original pair.
To be honest I couldn't care less about what the video is about. I just love watching you videos, the editing, the quality, everything is amazing. Big fan, keep up the great work.
I’m a 7th graded, and kids are getting these all over the place. Literally, over one weekend, 2 kids in my grade, which has 140 overall students, got AirPods. I was one of the first kids in my grade to have them, and I’ve recommended them to a few people, but Almost half my grade has them now
Dominick Majors because the main purpose of these kind of ear buds is not having a mind blowing sound quality, it's the confort and the convenience, it's kind of obvious that if you are an audiophile that is looking for a great sound quality you shouldn't even be watching this video
CORRECTION***** You mentioned that the Pixel Buds can "move forward or back between songs" but to change volume you have to "ask Google Assistant". This is actually the opposite. Swiping the earbud changes volume. There is no gesture for changing songs. You have to ask Google Assistant.
I’m so thankful you made this video and you really have my respect for admitting your were wrong; when the AirPods first came out and I got them all my friends told me I was crazy wasting my money and a fool. Well they all have them now, even those on Android. Don’t get me wrong they are not perfect but everyone I know love them and won’t change them for the world.
Yeah they're certainly just as good as any other Bluetooth earphones. People complain about the pairing process being time consuming but you only need to do that once when you buy them, if you're doing that regularly then you're doing something quite wrong.
I returned my Jaybird run the day after I bought them.. they are nice and sound cancelling.. the audio sound profile is nice.. but when I went on a run the connection would cut out every other step I would take.. I downgraded to the Jaybird X3 and they work seamless. Same audio, better fit in ear, same audio precision.
Ummm.... 1. To change the volume on the pixel buds just swipe forward or backwards. 2. Maybe the reason why it's hard for you to put the pixel buds in the case is because your putting it in wrong
As a previous iPhone user, I thought I'd need to sell my Airpods once I made my switch to Android. Now I can't imagine a casual school/work day without them.
Samsung Gear IconX 2018 is the best, fixed the only issue from first gen which was battery life and now has Type-C. The sound is incredible, love the bass! Still has the controls for volume up / down, previous / next track, etc. whereas the airpods don't. Now you can transfer any track from phone to the IconX wireless.
You Should make a part 2 for 2021

Galaxy buds lol
@@shilou9776 Galaxy buds aren't even the in the same field. Their just like the others and stick right in your ear hole, air pods like you hear what's going on around you.
Had my AirPods for about 3 weeks. The biggest drawback is the latency on the iOS RUclips app. Just really noticeable. Had the Jaybird X3 for a week but they were way worse. Really hoping for Bluetooth latency to be eliminated one day.
JasonMcGhan you need to buy aptX ones. It keeps the latency to a minimum.
JasonMcGhan I got myself a Klipsch R6 BT. It has aptx. Latency is barely noticeable so I’d say it’s not something you’d notice. Maybe you can give it a try.
Try IconX. I noticed there's a latency from my laptop but not from my phone.
I need headphones that look like a hearing aid so I can listen to music at work
Ryan Zijlema Buy the 2018 Gear IconX in grey color, not even kidding they absolutely can look like hearing aids and several people have told me the same while I was wearing one lol.
I'm kind of bummed he didn't review them in this video since they seem like they're exactly what he's looking for as an Airpod alternative, my connection is rock solid with unnoticeable delay but that might be cause I also have an S8. Plus one of the smaller cases and it has USB C!
Then you're in luck it seems
Yeah. Pretty much everyone now is hating on apple products, they don't use ones.
Welcome to every Apple invention ever.
"iPhone? You'll accidentally touch the giant screen!"
"iPad? It's just a giant iPod touch!"
"Apple Watch? What an ugly square!"
"AirPods? They'll fall out your ears!"
"HomePod? Looks like toilet paper!"
Milan Meiland They are just jealous
Milan Meiland r/thathappened
^^ This scenario is exactly what happened to me at work! So many people have them now, and Apple Watches
That airpod case kind of looks like a thing of dental floss
yet one of the cheapest earbuds on the video
Also look like tooth brushes in your ear
im i the only one to notice that those are NOT the Jaybird X3, those are the X2. Shame on you Marques, shame on you!
AirPods are imo incredible for androids. While they seem to miss out on the tap controls and pausing on removal from the ear, with the help of third-party apps they regain that ability. This gives them the perfect airpod experience, minus the simple setup. However, they do pair immediately when you open the case after the original pair.
what third party apps did you get?
To be honest I couldn't care less about what the video is about. I just love watching you videos, the editing, the quality, everything is amazing. Big fan, keep up the great work.

This is the quality review we expect from MKBHD
Hey! Marques...
Pls do a "What's on my phone" video....
More like what's on my phones video
Siddhant Bhatnagar yes! You are right bro....
Always the same. Gtask and blah blah ;))
I’m a 7th graded, and kids are getting these all over the place. Literally, over one weekend, 2 kids in my grade, which has 140 overall students, got AirPods. I was one of the first kids in my grade to have them, and I’ve recommended them to a few people, but Almost half my grade has them now
That’s pretty wacky. Good for you.
How are you just going to ignore the $199.99 Gear Icon X
AirPods?

AirPods, WaterPods, EarthPods, FirePods. Long ago......
No mention of the Samsung Gear IconXs. Interesting...
That Pixel 2XL in the intro! Man, that phone was a legend back when it launched. A shame that Google got carried away after that :/
Why isn't sound quality a deciding factor?
Dominick Majors because the main purpose of these kind of ear buds is not having a mind blowing sound quality, it's the confort and the convenience, it's kind of obvious that if you are an audiophile that is looking for a great sound quality you shouldn't even be watching this video
neitherlink Because all the companies ditching the headphone jack apparently don't give a shit about sound quality.
The sound quality on AirPods is amazing.
That was a good one XD
lol you're funny
January 2017?
I just rewind it twice and checked again the upload date lmao
Oh my gosh I’m not the only one that’s still stuck in the past!!!
Sooo Dwanye Rock Johnson collab confirmed?
The background music in the intro sounded like a remake of "I want you/she's so heavy" by the Beatles😁
Nice catch I love that song I didn't even notice till I read your comment
So many people I know, including me, have either lost or gotten their airpods stolen. :(
This format is amazing!!!!! Thank you!
Am I the only one who screamed meme review at the start of the video?
No, there are probably a few more autists watching this Video
Mr. Madman 9 year olds*
Mr. Madman how did you come to that conclusion
Yes
@@mr.madman9467 Such as yourself.
The intro is like a remix of "I want you so bad (she's so heavy)
CORRECTION***** You mentioned that the Pixel Buds can "move forward or back between songs" but to change volume you have to "ask Google Assistant". This is actually the opposite. Swiping the earbud changes volume. There is no gesture for changing songs. You have to ask Google Assistant.
Justin Chandler agree, script? Maybe
Samsung icon x? Why not?
His intro gets cooler each vid- love the work
You missed the Samsung gear icon x
battery life is so poor on those Id ignore them haha
oh wait they have new ones.... yeh they look good

AirPods are great even in android
They are? I'd rather just buy some BT headphones with 40-50mm driver's
Anything Apple is better than androids knockoff crap.
@@appleexposed4404 You realize that there were true wireless earbuds before air pods right?
Yeah they're certainly just as good as any other Bluetooth earphones. People complain about the pairing process being time consuming but you only need to do that once when you buy them, if you're doing that regularly then you're doing something quite wrong.
I didn't realize they worked with Android. Good to know.
Probably this is the best time for u to remake the video. A bunch of new superb wireless headphones has shown up.
BTW, the Airport 2 is a sticker.
Airpods are actually amazing, I had my doubts at first, but when I got them I realized I could never use any other earbuds again
His Majesty Omg same. When i have to use wired headphones for some reason, i find it so weird to use a wire now.
Hi! Are you still using them? Are you on Android?
@@bubamileva yep I’m still using AirPods, but I got the AirPods Pro 2 years ago, they’re awesome imo. I use iOS devices btw.
Why did you leave out Samsung Gear IconX 2018?????
Its not wireless
i think Gear IconX 2018 are the best
Bro Really like the way u explain about the pod's from best to worst
When you clapped in the intro ... all I thought was "Meme review"
Iconx 2018 anyone?
I returned my Jaybird run the day after I bought them.. they are nice and sound cancelling.. the audio sound profile is nice.. but when I went on a run the connection would cut out every other step I would take.. I downgraded to the Jaybird X3 and they work seamless. Same audio, better fit in ear, same audio precision.
Good to know.

Alright guys should I buy tickets to go to the Bucs vs Rams game tonight?
@@NehaSharma-ks5wq what did you choose?
Ummm....
1. To change the volume on the pixel buds just swipe forward or backwards.
2. Maybe the reason why it's hard for you to put the pixel buds in the case is because your putting it in wrong
Ken Kaneki 'you're inserting it wrong' when was the last time we heard something similar?
Jusung Lee why did he dramatize it though? It's really easy to do
U FORGOT THE GEAR ICON X 2018
You should have tried samsung Gear IconX 2018 !

Brandon Le Proktor I think he didn't because those that he tested are better
Samsung was literally one of the first lol
except the Yevo hahaha
So alright im gonna use airpods with my nokia
Edit: the old nokia maybe works ( ͠° ͟ ͜ʖ ͡ ͠°)
VerteX Indo as long as it has bluetehooth it would probably work
I have Nokia 6, does it work?
@@slofy4772 probably yes
If you get a bluetooth 2 in 1 transmitter and plug it into the headphone jack of your Nokia itll work
Will it work on my Nokia 3.1 plus cricket wireless
Try out the Samsung Gear Icon X 2018, IMO it's the best for android by far.
i think the same
Yeah but it's 400 dollars.
Yash Akkara bruh. They do not cost $400.
As a previous iPhone user, I thought I'd need to sell my Airpods once I made my switch to Android. Now I can't imagine a casual school/work day without them.
David Georgiyev do airpods have much of difference when using on android or do you still think they're the best?
Could you describe the features you lose? I'd like to use some for my Galaxy S8. Thanks!
What about the Samsung Gear IconX 2018's?
Samsung Gear IconX 2018 is the best, fixed the only issue from first gen which was battery life and now has Type-C. The sound is incredible, love the bass!
Still has the controls for volume up / down, previous / next track, etc. whereas the airpods don't. Now you can transfer any track from phone to the IconX wireless.
