How To Manipulate Game Speed

  • In this video, I cover the single variable that separates elite players in Europe and elsewhere, from average players in North America and elsewhere. That variable is how fast they play football.
    Anyone that has played football in Europe or at elite levels can attest to the fact that the main thing they notice that different is how fast players seem make and execute decisions. the ball moves way faster and you have way less time to think and make a decision.
    They're not technically more advanced, or genetically more athletic, or naturally more intelligent. That would be illogical as we're all human beings with similar abilities.
    So what it is that makes them just so much better?
    Well, alongside other factors, one of the BIGGEST ones is that...
    they simply play football at a FASTER pace. We then refer to this as them playing at "higher level" when all that really means is "playing quicker"
    With that said, if we can figure out what specific things allow a player/team to "play quicker", we can then formulate a practical plan to help ourselves do the same and in the end, play quicker. or in other words...manipulate game speed.
    This will allow us to pull one of the biggest levers in our football performance and now be able to keep up with the elite players in Europe and across the world...and no longer have this "gap" in our level.
    I specifically reccomend this video for anyone about to go on trials in Europe or with a high level team any where else. You WILL be exposed over there if you can't keep up with their tempo of play.
    It is important to note that the concept of "being one step ahead" or "manipulating game speed" doesn't only mean playing quicker, it also means knowing when to slow down as well.
    It essentially means knowing how to control the overall tempo of a match. In this video we will mostly focus on the "how to play (quicker)" aspect and in following videos we will cover 'how to control the (overall tempo)" of a game including slowing it down.
    Enjoy the vid and apply the things you learn or else they're useless!!

      I feel like that ain’t always what game iq is tho no hate. I feel like it’s just the smarts and intelligence you have in the game that leads you to make decisions. More iq means u know how to make better decisions whether if that is to slow down or get into this spot or make this pass or speed up in this moment, etc. also going fast ain’t always the key in football, going slow is also important, it’s abt knowing when to switch spds from slow to fast or vice versa. Again no hate, I just wanted to help n maybe I even misunderstood what was said in the vid also

      @@supersaiyan2hd182 I agree with you bro, game IQ includes the things you mentioned. I just wanted to point out that someone finally explained what it means instead of throwing the phrase around.

    High quality players do not try to play quicker. They often have the ability to slow down/pause the game which indirectly enables a higher quality of execution. Trying to outrun the opponent is a wrong mechanism to focus on. Certain players with individual attributes that encompass speed may have a small edge here but definitely game speed is not the fundamental factor to playing better. A better player is the one who has good individual principles an enable to incorporate that into small group tactics based on the demands of the game.

      You have no clue what you're talking about. It's not all about slowing the game down. High-quality players know when to slow the game down AND when to speed it up. So many casuals learned the phrase "la pausa" and never understood that it's part of a greater term of "tempo control".
      "La Pausa" is actually part of a broader skill of tempo control in soccer. The ability to understand when to pause is intrinsically linked to knowing when to suddenly accelerate play. It's like a musician's sense of dynamics - knowing when to play softly makes the loud moments more impactful.
      A player who masters this tempo control can:
      - Slow the game down to lull defenders into a false sense of security
      - Explode into action when defenders have relaxed or lost concentration
      - Create "mini transitions" by suddenly changing the pace of play when the defense isn't set
      - Use quick combinations after a pause to catch defenders flat-footed
      Iniesta was particularly brilliant at this - he would often slow down play with a subtle pause, wait for defenders to commit or step toward him, then suddenly accelerate or release a quick pass. This change of rhythm would frequently break defensive lines.
      This skill is especially valuable in the modern game where teams are so well-organized defensively. Sometimes you need to disrupt the defense's rhythm and timing rather than trying to simply outrun or outmuscle them.

      you look for information like is an opponent near me? would i have time to turn and dribble or first touch pass, know where youre standing, know what to do with the ball before you get it. but since we play through instinct you need to practice scanning a lot to do it more in game.

    for the sake of the game itself: my take on game IQ is the specific understanding of space. "The Space" being positional placement on and off the ball, when you and your team have or don't have possession. Not a lot of developing academy and club players understand utilizing space, its hard to coach and a hard skill to develop outside of playing matches or small sided possession drills. You can dominate space with a run into open space. You can create a more productive space to create with a first touch away from a defender. You can rush space to create nerves and pressure for an opponent with possession. Hard tackles allow you to dominate space. Aerial duels is another realm of space, not just winning headers but dummying touches to dupe defenders going for headers or settling an airborne ball into space instead of dead at your feat. Game IQ is an understanding of the relationship of the space you occupy with your team, and how the opponent team will move in free and contested space. The use of space dictates play styles from the best players through time, it differentiates play styles across countries and continents, its why tactics and positions and formations have changed. There's no moment in a game where the space is not relevant to the competitive outcome for you and your team.

    one thing i would say is physical speed is not beneficial by itself, if you are really fast but lack the ball control to match it you will not be able to play at the highest level. the fast players that play at the highest level usually have ball control the same as or superior to their athletic ability.

    • @Lie_Sttlll
      @Lie_Sttlll 10 дней назад

      As a super fast player I agree, not to tute my own horn but the thing that sets me apart is ball control, finishing and confidence, speed is like sword every one has it and if yours is better it’s an advantage but the better fighter always wins in the end

    Futbol is cybernetic automation if you wait for the triggers too late it's not instinct... the subconscious layer too slow have to use executive functioning at top level it's not "3 seconds" it's 1.25 seconds

    • @officialwazzani17
      @officialwazzani17  Месяц назад +1

      Interesting take! elaborate on this

    • @theTacBot
      @theTacBot Месяц назад

      The automation comes from understanding what players are controlling the ball and which players are off the ball, then reading which defenders are engaged and what's the nature of the defense man zone press or mixed... and where the space is - this will then trigger an automation and this will then dictate the pattern. If you play "subconsciously" and wait for the triggers most decisions take 1.56 seconds to process ... champions league is 1.25 / action so it has to be automated the game is just too fast for subconscious and trigger responses to explain what is going on

    its a game of the mind played with your body. just do everything within the rules to buy yourself and your teammates more time on the ball.
    in my country, 🇿🇦, people think playing faster means you a better player.
    no. the more time you have to execute an action. the better the results will be.
    also
    van Dijk isnt as fast as Mbappe and them. over a distance of like 3metres everyone is more or less the same speed. van Dijk thinks faster than Mbappe nem. he knows how to control their movements and not give them space to attack the goal. he also knows when to time a tackle. his long ass legs help with that cause the minute a player believes theyve gone past him, they show him the ball. thats when he puts a foot in.
    reaction time is a thing of the mind and having trained your body well enough to keep up with your speed of thought
