Hey PianoImprov! Yes, I play by so called ear, however I do read music! I started out reading music and learning to play piano and as the years went on I had friends that played by ear and that motivated me to learn how to play by ear! It was difficult at first until I started hearing the patterns and recognizing the intervals that I had already been trained to know.
