    Tom, I am much older than you, and your videos, Podcasts, Flashcards, and the methods you are putting out are an inspiration to me.
    Please keep it up, you are making learning medicine more accessable and logical
    Thank you

    So relatable! The more time I seem to have to study for an exam, the more I information I have forgotten by the time the exam comes. I remember when I had a Biochemistry exam I had a month to study and around 150 topics to learn. By the time I got to 100 I realized I had forgotten most of them, so I panicked and covered all 150 topics in a matter of 3 days. Then I went on and got an A lol.

    Thank you, Tom.
    I will use your tips this semester, I am a medical student from Mexico and you are quite right because of the pandemic I forgot what it is to really study and last semester I took my first face-to-face exam, and according to me I was studying before but I forgot everything.
    So the week before the test I took some digital notes and studied them with a partner and we both got very good grades.

    Parkinson's law is genius. I always wondered why it is that i was able to do some stuff really quickly under pressure whereas simple tasks when I have more time seem to take ages. The same essay could take 3 weeks or 3 days. And its not like the 3 week essay is all that much better

      Thanks. I should make videos going through MCQs and discussing them. The most important thing when doing practice MCQs is that you are learning while doing them - the more questions you get wrong the most you are learning. If you repeat the questions, you will quickly get to 80/90% because you will remember the answers having done the questions before. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Hey Tom
    How do I become less paranoid about not knowing enough and this fear that I might harm patients in the future because I’m not memorizing textbooks or anything my of that sort and I’m just pushing by and trying to retain the most important knowledge for exams :(

    • @TomWatchman
      @TomWatchman  Год назад

      Hi. I think a big part of it is accepting that you will never know everything and being aware of the gaps in your knowledge (including being aware that there are many things you will not even known that you don't know). Not everything falls on one person - the system should be set up so that you are always able to take the time needed to find out the answers or to call on someone with the necessary skills to help. Even the most experienced and knowledgable doctors will have gaps in their knowledge.
