Completely unrelated but have you ever had to retap one of the three recirc valve bolts? Some nitty has overtightened mine and ruined the thread so I'm looking at either rethreading or a heli coil. Informative video by the way will deffo help me choose who's going to remap my astra, nice one.
Really interesting upload, your channel came as a recommendation and I've subscribed immediately. Do you think that damage could be caused by not letting the car come up to temperature before driving hard and hitting the rev limiter often and under no load. Cheers 👍 Jack
You have a safe map, but If you've got a hard cut limiter and you bash it 24/7 your engine will eventually give no matter how good your mapping is, I personally think good mappers in the industry should straight up refuse these stupid add on's as there absolutely awful. Keep us updated with the build bro👍 and look on rabbids RUclips page about rebuilding these leh motors for some proper good in depth information
Looks like the mapping may well be the issue, running to lean and basically melting the piston, although I think majority of the damage to the head and remaining pistons would of been caused by piston 1 breaking up.. the metal has to go somewhere, the fragments of metal running up and down the length of the block, until it’s small enough to be blown out the exhaust..surprised if it hasn’t got bent valves as well...the tolerance is so slight as a the smallest fragment of metal between piston and head could result in bent rods, as you have.... would definitely be checking the crank and main caps...that’s just been driven to destruction ,think twice before you start putting it back together, in your position wouldn’t it be more practical to source anther engine?
This is a mixture of det & pistons being destroyed mate, the only thing completly damaged is the head which is being replaced the block can be checked and rebored, if there is any distortion in the block we will find out then it will be a new engine pretty much
Rusty Autos he definitely should !!! At least he’s given his car to a well respected garage that knows what they are doing now keep up the great work 👊👊👊 big shout out to #rusty autos
Iv recently bought a stage 2 remapped ecu kit (260bhp) with all the mods from the same car it was mapped to. can I just swap everything over and go ? Astra mk4 gsi Z20let
I got mx5 now I still have corsa but I can't believe how mu h better mx5 is compared to corsa d. Next car be mx5? As ur project u would have bigger audience then
Good video, great content, really gives people a good insight and let’s people know some solid advice when it comes down to all these maps with over run and ignition cut etc and the potential damage it can cause, I had a cheap map done on my VX racing corsa and then had to take it to RnD to get it sorted properly, glad I did don’t have as many pops and bangs but my word it’s a safe but extremely fun map. 🤗
Exactly! Its okay to have pops and bangs but there is a limit & unfortunetly some mappers dont care about blowing someones car, gotta go to ones that do a good job!
Rusty Autos certainly do, need to get my corsa forged with you, dropped you an email about it last week and about hybrid turbos etc, when you get chance send us the info please. Keep up the quality content
i would say thats one of them pop up works from a van mapper one map does all for £180.00.....havent got a clue what there doing apart from wrecking engines, good friend of mine his brother had a leon fr....exactly the same took it to a clown and blew into shite within an hour....for me if ur ever getting anything like that done, u get ur homework done and go to somewere like regal that stands over there work...yes be slightly dearer....but they no what there doing
I had a stage 2 Corsa E VXR that I bought and 3 months later P4 completely melted. The hole was twice the size of that one. I did take it to APR to have it checked when I 1st got it and after a compression check and a Dyno it was fine then 3 months later it happened and I didn't really thrash it. Sometimes can just be to do with the weak engine which VXR's are known for. They tend run lean even without a map.
The injectors are on there limits anyway, not so much the astra, but if one fails it can cause damage, we fount out that one of the injectors for the astra failed too
@@RustyAutos what are the symptoms of a failing injector? I have a misfire on full throttle over 5000rpm, I'm running some redline fuel cleaner through it and its slowly sounding better and it seems to run better with the maf unplugged
Just so your aware all Z20leh heads all the way from Lel let ler have cracks around the spark plug holes witch causes no issues what so ever but the rest of the thing brought up is right tho
Rusty Autos yeah there are common for it mate but they cause no issues at all like that unless it’s fully cracked into the valve seats ! I have a fully forged engine by Courtenay sport running 434 bhp with them cracks and never an issue
@@RustyAutos As long as the cracks are not excessive or reach into the valve seats the head can still be used, they wont cause any issues. Every Z20 I've seen has them
2:17 that's what I tell the missus when she ain't doing it right
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the fractures around the plugs are fairly common on z20 heads and don't necessarily mean the heads junk just from those
Indeed never seen one not cracked its fairly normal without any issue.

Thank you for subscribing!, not properly letting the car warm up before doing that will definetly cause damage!

Det looks like pin pricks, not like someones attacked it with a carbide burr drill bit

Great video guys, are you gonna have an open day/meet anytime soon I would defo make the trip
Yes we are actually!! Very very very soon we will be!
If that was done by the mapping etc can the customer not claim for it ?
Awesome job guys 👊👊👊
He could mate yes!

Not really thats the downside of remapping and dynos they dont take blame for any damages you do it at your own risk
Iv recently bought a stage 2 remapped ecu kit (260bhp) with all the mods from the same car it was mapped to.
can I just swap everything over and go ? Astra mk4 gsi Z20let
If you swap all the stuff from the astra mk5 over to the mk4 yes, including loom, etc u may have to do something with sensors tho
Rusty Autos
Great thank you very much :) I’ll get it all fitted to my engine now I know it’s safe can’t wait :) 👍😁
Omg those pistons are all but destroyed cracking video guys
They are a mess arent they!
I got mx5 now I still have corsa but I can't believe how mu h better mx5 is compared to corsa d. Next car be mx5? As ur project u would have bigger audience then
My car had a blue fin map on it when I got it.
I didn't no ended up needing new block 2 new pistions.
So got a nev lock rod kit put in.
ahh thats so sad :(
@@RustyAutos I know people cutting corners to save abit of cash
That has been over revved ... the limiter has been bounced with a bad map and the piston metal has been burnt because it has been shaved off ...
My 1.9 cdti blue smokes on start up, any ideas?
It could be many things mate, possibly turbo or valve seals
I would check fuel pressure reg.. . Fuel pressure should rise with boost....if its failed, it would cause it to run lean.
Definetly it could mate! Coulf cause that damage to the pistons too

@@mattacdavison6890 will do mate!
Great video, I got a remapping 1.9, think I need my engine looked at... Are you able to quote me please?
Best thing to do is bring it to us mate so we can diagnose the problem
How long would it take for it to get this bad due to the poor mapping and aggressive driving on a regular basis?
Tbh it wudnt take that long tbh, maybe 1k milea or less but youll see other damage straight away
Rusty Autos Cheers dude.
Great video guys! :)
Thanks man!
Could be the fuel filter the wrong way round
And that's why I don't remap
Car wizard is that youuuuu lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂
can we get a little research into who did the map... xD
We can definetly try ;)
Yeah be intrested to no wear or who the map came from
Car wants base mapping or original file before running that new build up lol
It definetly does mate, were already on it :) got a base map to put on the beauty

Suprised the rods are ok
There was a slight bend in 1 of the rods, but im suprised they didnt snap

Yes buddy u do! See you soon hopefully!
