In this video I challenge 2x IPF World Champion Jessica Buettner to a deadlift battle. Can I earn the respect of one of the world's strongest powerlifters? Pray for me.
Jeff and Antoine just chillin in the back is a frigin vibe. Makes me feel like moving to Toronto! Pure muscle and fitness is definitely the place to be.
Jess has ideal conventional deadlift proportions, reminds me of female Pete Rubish build. Long arms, long femurs, short torso, short tibias. I honestly think her squat is more impressive, those proportions are definitely not ideal for squats!
@@shooters2577wouldn't long femurs mean that the hips are farther back than they would be with shorter femurs which would mean the lifter is LESS upright before starting the pull?
@joeberger3441 I could have been more specific. It's more the ratio of femur to tibia. When the tibia is short relative to the femur, the lower leg can be perfectly vertical at the start of the movement allowing the bar to be closer to center of mass. Long femurs also allow a higher relative hip position which means less demand for hip extension as compared to a squattier starting stance (usually hip angle is actually more open with a higher hip position). When combined with short torso (shorter moment arm on hips/low back and easier brace, hips closer to the bar with shorter torso) and long arms (shortened ROM, more upright torso), you'll get freaky leverages.
Shes truly amazing considdering how much she can lift with that body weight, it's rather crazy that we see these levels more and more. I am tho a little bit confused as of the "no female as ever lifted 600 Lbs in competition" seen Lucy Underdown did 700 Lbs earlier this year. Granted shes alot bigger but it has been done none the less
He went from looking like a baki character in his own videos to a first stage Pokémon when appearing here poor Jeff 😂 like what a nice guy but I didn’t realise how small
How easy the 170 kg looks at her. Deadlift is so technical and depending on anatomy and work your anatomy right. It can not be a pure strength and technic thing
Narrower stance shortens ROM, allows more quad pop, and lets you have a narrower grip which allows more whip on a deadlift bar. It often allows a more upright torso position as well. But it's ultimately determined by hip width and anteversion vs retroversion of acetabula, and whether you're working with a power belly that might get in the way. In the gen pop, people have a much wider stance than they should on conventional deadlift more often than not. They try to squat the weight up, but the hips are actually harder to load in a wider stance, so once they inititate the movement they lose back position since they're not hinging. Watch Jess, she's got monkey arms, granted, but gets equal loading of quads and posterior chain when pulling slack and tensioning, and keeps the bar really close with a strong hinge pattern once the bar leaves the floor.
No hate, genuine question; if you're T1 diabetic and you're pinning insulin on the daily (which is anabolic) what are the rules about that as far as competing in a natty fed?
@@D2BII yeah I assume so, just like Bradley Wiggins has a medical exemption for his “asthma” - my question is , anabolics, prescription or otherwise, still give you an advantage, no?
@@neilgendzwill3260 I know she’s doing it for health reasons like all T1 diabetics, I’m just asking if it provides any kind of unfair advantage regardless?
I always notice there are people with diabetes that are abnormally strong. Does being able to control your insulin effect your strength? Can you abuse it for gains??
Type 1 diabetics who need insulin to survive will always be at a disadvantage no matter how much insulin we use, because we can't possibly match the precision of a working pancreas and inevitably piss out sugar and break down our muscle protein and fat stores when we are hyperglycemic. I do wonder what PEDs she deploys and how much harder it is to regulate blood sugar under those hormonal fluctuations. Testosterone is notoriously insulin sensitizing, increasing risk of hypoglycemia. I'm guessing Anavar and Masteron would be possibilities given their low androgenicity and short detection times.
Insulin can strategically be used as a PED. Insulin inhibits catabolism in muscles and in the liver. It increases the synthesis of glycogen and proteins and it promotes the entry of glycogen and amino acids into muscle cells. Insulin also increase IGF-1 bioavailability. So, if you know what you're doing, you can get better performance by using insulin as a PED, but it's complicated and risky and can involve taking other drugs. (Not saying she's using or trying to use her insulin as a PED).

Insulin plus gh plus nandrolone plus whatever the hell else she uses. Look at that puffy face. So much water retention from those drugs.
0:39 “You look submissive and breedable” 😅 she already won
I thought her 2 words were gonna be “Sumo?” or “conventional?”
Wow. My max dead is 315 but i was tired and my back hurt and im older and i had an itch on my back.
Anyone who can deadlift 500+ is strong as hell in my books
In the powerlifting world and from -83, 500+ pounds is not that much
@jojojojola Oh wow you're right.
500 lbs is nothing... or maybe powerlifters are strong as hell
Conventional you mean, sumo doesn't count
@Kaizan27 I refuse to acknowledge it's existence
No
Man, she is so cool. 🤩

I was expecting to see William Tennyson make an appearance as well.
The gym is like an hour away from Toronto. Lol
