Cause i have shit internet so if you also have a shit internet, you need to install the resources you need to build h-encore 2 the day before ypu hack it... then if you assemble it, then you only have to install henKaku from h-encore 2 then allow unsafe homebrew and after that, you install VitaShell and thats it, but if you need to downgrade, install the latest Modoru downgrader, which downgraded me from 3.73 to 3.65, the most active fw when we are talking about exploits and plugins... sometimes backups, i mean 98% of backups... pretty dang cool i managed to hack it pretty well, nothing failed so far from my attempt.. but it needs god-killing time if you have a slow internet connection
And also because Sony wouldn’t drop the price of the Vita because they said, “Just because someone in our competition dropped the price on their handheld, doesn’t mean we need to do the same.” That competition was Nintendo and their 3ds after they dropped the price of the console, so that is another reason why the Play Station Vita didn’t do so well, and as a Nintendo fan, I’m happy about that.

Great decision! The Vita is such a wonderful system. Got my original OLED model used a couple of years ago, and actually wound up getting that same blue LCD model last year. Long live Vita!

Aeromatic yea, they discontinued support for the vita everywhere but in japan......I really don’t understand Sony. The psvita was pretty powerful for a handheld and had tons of potential. The games were mostly great and the Japanese games support is the best I’ve ever seen. The vita (ironically) is dead and there could have been a big revival, but Sony pushed hard on the ps4 while pushing the vita in the Japanese market where it is still doing very well. I loved my 3G/WiFi OLED vita and I will buy another someday......along with miku, DOAX3, senran kagura and killzone.
REAL’S GAMING the system had potential with FPS games and a gran turismo port......but Sony just ditched it....imagine a ps3 quality GTvita game with full multiplayer....it would have been amazing. The other games they could have ported are CoD games.....Black ops declassified was the best portable CoD game we ever got.....but imagine if they continued and brought CoD black ops declassified 2 with a full zombies mode.

Besides MW2 black ops zombies is what got me into gaming seeing it at an old friends house and they have black ops zombies with all maps on phones so why not add it to the Vita? From time to time I pull out my ps vita.. I refuse to forget about this system and I’m so angry at Sony for not showing much love and support to this beautiful device.. the ps vita still has so much potential I don’t know why developers at Sony decided to abandon this device..
Going to watch this now as I'm deciding if I want to buy one for myself as a birthday present this month. Biggest thing for me is playing ps1 games, and jrpg's i never got around to playing as a kid. Harvest moon, parasite eve, and others are always fun to play too
GamingTV then go play Doom 2016 on your 4K phone. Also, a lot of games do 1080p 60fps on the Switch. ARMS, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2 and Fast RMX to name a few. LA Noire also does 1080p30fps iirc. So quit your bullshit. Not all games do 1080p on the PS4 as well. So might as well throw that box away according to that logic. And 900p is HD. Anything 720p and above is HD.
I love my Vita. I have gen 1 with 3G support. And the Oled. And although I do have blotchy spots when loading on the dark screens (there from day one new open), the picture quality is gorgeous. I have seen the Oled of course and the LCD. Sorry, but the LCD is not even close...
Such an amazing little system when I got it way back in 2013. I felt like it had sooooooo much potential, but alas I feel like the vita is one of the biggest tragedies in gaming history. I’m a huge fan of portables and always have been since the days of the OG game boy and that is why I thought the vita would be the ultimate experience and for its time, it was, but the failed promise of Sony to get enough AAA games on there was a huge let-down. This combined with ridiculously priced proprietary peripherals and **cough** memory cards, just left the vita in an unrecoverable state. I’m glad about its second life however as an indie go-to but for me, that alone wasn’t enough to make me keep it and so I sold it about a year ago. But Erica, love your channel and hope you have a blast with it....me, I’m gonna go fire up my Switch right now and play some LA Noire. The switch made up for all of the let down feelings I had with the vita and for that I’m grateful! Viva la switch!
The system was so dope and had technologies in it wayyyyy ahead of its time. It could’ve been one of, if not THE greatest portable of all time if SONY actually backed it with 100% effort...but for some crazy reason they didn’t, thus definitely making it a tragedy that they didn’t support it all the way!

Yup, Vita has Persona 4 Golden which is a system seller alone and my favorite game of all time... Also has a number of emulation options from what I’ve heard
I loved my PSP and played it for a long time before moving on. It still works great, though I am a little disappointed in the screen after looking at my Note 8 all day. I always wanted a Vita, just never had the extra cash.
You could get remote play on your Note 8 as well if you don’t already have it. It’d just be on screen controls though, unless you buy a compatible controller
I miss one of my favorite game on vita of all time, Soul Sacrifice...i hope this game could get a sequel or even a remake for the ps4 then i can die happily
The Vita really doesn't get enough recognition, most people avoided it because most of the games are on other consoles, but I like mine because of the layout & portability, also the benefit of getting cross-buy or cross-save games. If people just stopped listening to others when they say a console "has no games" & searched for themselves, this could have been a bit more successful. I hope Sony release another handheld in the future.
I just bought a new Vita. I'm going to pretend the past 6 years didn't happen and start fresh with a handful of new games and renewed vigor. Because it truly is a good console just the way the company treated it was just... Regrettable When the system had its highs they were great Persona 4, Killzone mercenary, Soul Sacrifice Delta, uncharted golden Abyss. When it had its lows they were really low. Overpriced proprietary memory cards, long gaming droughts, abandoning the fan base forcing us to become a niche audience, over-reliance on Indie Games to fill your gaming catalog, not putting the full backlog of PSP games in the digital library, I still don't understand that one.
Same thing happened with PSP. So many people put it to the side even though it had a ton of support, massively better games than DS and epic exclusive titles. Even with all that plus more, the PSP would kind of get overlooked and almost laughed at. I never understood the cynicism gamers had against PSP? It would get compared to the PS3 and get tossed aside as a weak portable because it wasn't at the level of PS3? Though PSP had massive sales over seas and did very well in the U.S. Ridiculous criticism all across the board really. I personally loved PSP, collected a ton for it and still have my collection. PS Vita unfortunately, is facing (has been facing) the same fate as the PSP.
Boba Squid - That's the exact reason why I made sure I got a Vita at launch I thought it was going to have all that third-party support and mountains of exclusives just like the PSP. I got a DSi over the PSP that was one of my worst gaming decisions I ever made because I only played Battle Network/Starforce and Pokemon on it.
I love Vita, just bought slim model yesterday. My old fatty one still working perfect after 5 years. Ps Vita titles+PsP and Ps one compatibility, still a looooot of fun.
It’s such a shame about the proprietary SD cards. I find that even the 64Gb is not enough space for all the great downloadable games on the PlayStation network. They are so expensive and also a pain to switch out if you own more than one. That aside, Erica you are gonna love the vita! So awesome, so many games, and they look great on the vita. Also preowned vita games are fairly inexpensive at GameStop. Hope you make a follow up video of some games you decide to play. Have fun!
samwizz You're right. It has to be hacked in order to use the app for the SD gamecard adapter. That means finding a vita that hasn't been updated at all to pursue the hack.
I was an early adopter of the Vita and saw its potential. But unfortunately, the expensive memory cards really killed it for me. Especially in an age where full game downloads were becoming a real thing.
I started with 16gb at launch doubling the space each year and never spent more than $80 though micro sd cards are cheaper and sony should have used it
The main reason I got my Vita was to play Persona 4 Golden and was kinda upset to find out that I can no longer play the Spyro and Crash trilogies on it for some reason, I missed out on downloading them before they became unavailable :(
I own and still play my 2000 model PSP... imo it is the greatest portable console ever made. Not only do you have the PSP's already solid lineup, but it can also play every PS1 game, and has emulators for N64, all Gameboy models (except for the DS and above obviously), arcade games, old PC titles etc etc. And that's not mentioning Quake ports and homebrew software... All on a single portable package!!!
Khaled Taha well it's just as easy to mod a vita , and it will do all those things and more. If you love the psp then get a vita. It honestly blows it out of the water, and it won't be long before the price skyrockets
Peter Cooper It's been ages since I followed up with the modding community I didn't realize there were mods for the vita now xD My problem with the Vita is that it's still way too overpriced, at least where I live. Plus to be able to store all the games and software I mentioned in my comment I would need one large or multiple SD cards. On the PSP these are easily available everywhere at good prices. Vita proprietary cards however are a joke with their baffling price tag even to this day. While the Vita is superior to the PSP in terms of performance at least, I find it to be a hefty investment that is just not worth it imo (vs the PSP at least). Though I can't deny I'm really dying to play games such as Uncharted Golden Abyss & Killzone Mercenary on the Vita
I just got a ps vita for xmas and I love it, yes very expense to get a 64GB but worth collecting games bit by bit on my wish list. I currently have all resident evil 1DC,2,3, and spyro trilogy atm till I can save for a 64gb which im almost saved. :’( If sony lowers the prices on gb card there be more people with vita and buying. Im also sad there isnt much any social apps. I only have twitch and chruncy rolls atm. I love them to bring the social apps back again :(
Update: Just received it on the 30th. I'm so ecstatic...I got 12 vita games,a travel case holds 30 games and 4 memory cards, 32gb memory card, a Hori Remote Play Assist and a Nykon power grip,screen front and back protectors, thumb grips,and I feel like a PlayStation King
Really is a shame this is probably sonys last handheld. I really want to get a vita but the memory cards are so expensive. I may wait until they go down in price soon before picking one up.
If all the years since it's launch are anything to go by it does not look like they will go down in price anytime soon, unless you luck up, and maybe find some for cheap on a Walmart/target clearance shelf. Yes their are micro SD to Vita adapters, but all the reviews I've come across on them makes them out to be sketchy at best.
AlphaMax just buy one already. Save up enough cash so you can purchase the Vita along with a 64gb. I'm watching the price as well, and it's barely dropping.
just get one on firmware 3.60 or lower and hack it so you can use a micro SD adapter. I have a 128gb card in mine. look up Henkaku enso, SD2VITA, NoNPDRM, and Adrenaline. you'll be amazed and want a Vita even more.
Glad to see some love for the Vita. I love it so much that I have ... err ... three. One as a daily driver, one as a backup should my daily driver break, and a PCH-1000 because it’s a piece of electronic artwork I want to marvel at forever. Love the Vita!
I just got one in 2020 for the pandemic, and it was a good buy I'm having lots of fun with it. I have that exact same model in blue, and that was some epic unboxing music lol that's how I felt the first time playing it.
Nice video, but yeah the cost of the Vita itself, and the Memory cards is what's stopped me from getting one, maybe if I ever catch a deal on a nice used unit with an included memory card I'll get one. Otherwise I'm good with my "NEW" 2DS XL, and my Android phone with a MOGA controller at this point.
Go to aliexpres or somewhere else they got adapter now i am looking into it because i can jailbreak put emulator and download games for free i did it with my psp just a year ago didnt wanna buy the vita for the same reason u say but its good now
powerofdreams666 From all the reviews I've gathered the adapters are flaky at best, don't work well with firmwares past 3.60 which you need if you want to use PSN, or some of the newer games on cards. My Android phone which is a Moto G5 Plus with Android 7.0 4GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 64GB micro SD card, and my MOGA Hero Power controller can run all the emulators I could ever want, while still being useful all day long between my job, and family life doing email, calls, txt, etc.. so no thank you on spending more money on something else to run emulators, and only a handful of games I might care about, and when most of them already have ports on the 3DS/2DS platform, and/or Android.
PhantomOverload If your firmware is below 3.60 or exactly 3.60 you can still mod the Vita so you can use 256gb micro sd cards with SD2VITA (works on all models) or psvsd (only works on PS Vita 3G)

I understand that the sd card was to hinder modders but if modders want to modify devices that won't stop them. Should have just allowed the use of normal sd cards.

Aeromatic yea, they discontinued support for the vita everywhere but in japan......I really don’t understand Sony. The psvita was pretty powerful for a handheld and had tons of potential. The games were mostly great and the Japanese games support is the best I’ve ever seen. The vita (ironically) is dead and there could have been a big revival, but Sony pushed hard on the ps4 while pushing the vita in the Japanese market where it is still doing very well. I loved my 3G/WiFi OLED vita and I will buy another someday......along with miku, DOAX3, senran kagura and killzone.

REAL’S GAMING the system had potential with FPS games and a gran turismo port......but Sony just ditched it....imagine a ps3 quality GTvita game with full multiplayer....it would have been amazing. The other games they could have ported are CoD games.....Black ops declassified was the best portable CoD game we ever got.....but imagine if they continued and brought CoD black ops declassified 2 with a full zombies mode.

GamingTV really, no portable console has 1080p graphics. The Switch is 720p max and the Vita is much lower than that.
Nvidia shield tablet has 1080p.

GamingTV then go play Doom 2016 on your 4K phone. Also, a lot of games do 1080p 60fps on the Switch. ARMS, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2 and Fast RMX to name a few. LA Noire also does 1080p30fps iirc. So quit your bullshit. Not all games do 1080p on the PS4 as well. So might as well throw that box away according to that logic. And 900p is HD. Anything 720p and above is HD.

I love my Vita. I have gen 1 with 3G support. And the Oled. And although I do have blotchy spots when loading on the dark screens (there from day one new open), the picture quality is gorgeous. I have seen the Oled of course and the LCD. Sorry, but the LCD is not even close...

Such an amazing little system when I got it way back in 2013. I felt like it had sooooooo much potential, but alas I feel like the vita is one of the biggest tragedies in gaming history. I’m a huge fan of portables and always have been since the days of the OG game boy and that is why I thought the vita would be the ultimate experience and for its time, it was, but the failed promise of Sony to get enough AAA games on there was a huge let-down.
This combined with ridiculously priced proprietary peripherals and **cough** memory cards, just left the vita in an unrecoverable state.
I’m glad about its second life however as an indie go-to but for me, that alone wasn’t enough to make me keep it and so I sold it about a year ago.
But Erica, love your channel and hope you have a blast with it....me, I’m gonna go fire up my Switch right now and play some LA Noire. The switch made up for all of the let down feelings I had with the vita and for that I’m grateful! Viva la switch!
The system was so dope and had technologies in it wayyyyy ahead of its time. It could’ve been one of, if not THE greatest portable of all time if SONY actually backed it with 100% effort...but for some crazy reason they didn’t, thus definitely making it a tragedy that they didn’t support it all the way!

I loved my PSP and played it for a long time before moving on. It still works great, though I am a little disappointed in the screen after looking at my Note 8 all day. I always wanted a Vita, just never had the extra cash.

Phil Nolan you could get a used one. You can find a decent used one for 70-80$. Memory cards are a completely different story though.
You could get remote play on your Note 8 as well if you don’t already have it. It’d just be on screen controls though, unless you buy a compatible controller

I just bought my Vita a few months ago and I love it. More Vita videos would be awesome.
The Vita really doesn't get enough recognition, most people avoided it because most of the games are on other consoles, but I like mine because of the layout & portability, also the benefit of getting cross-buy or cross-save games.
If people just stopped listening to others when they say a console "has no games" & searched for themselves, this could have been a bit more successful.
I hope Sony release another handheld in the future.

When the system had its highs they were great Persona 4, Killzone mercenary, Soul Sacrifice Delta, uncharted golden Abyss. When it had its lows they were really low. Overpriced proprietary memory cards, long gaming droughts, abandoning the fan base forcing us to become a niche audience, over-reliance on Indie Games to fill your gaming catalog, not putting the full backlog of PSP games in the digital library, I still don't understand that one.

Same thing happened with PSP. So many people put it to the side even though it had a ton of support, massively better games than DS and epic exclusive titles. Even with all that plus more, the PSP would kind of get overlooked and almost laughed at. I never understood the cynicism gamers had against PSP? It would get compared to the PS3 and get tossed aside as a weak portable because it wasn't at the level of PS3? Though PSP had massive sales over seas and did very well in the U.S. Ridiculous criticism all across the board really. I personally loved PSP, collected a ton for it and still have my collection. PS Vita unfortunately, is facing (has been facing) the same fate as the PSP.
Boba Squid - That's the exact reason why I made sure I got a Vita at launch I thought it was going to have all that third-party support and mountains of exclusives just like the PSP. I got a DSi over the PSP that was one of my worst gaming decisions I ever made because I only played Battle Network/Starforce and Pokemon on it.

It’s such a shame about the proprietary SD cards. I find that even the 64Gb is not enough space for all the great downloadable games on the PlayStation network. They are so expensive and also a pain to switch out if you own more than one.
That aside, Erica you are gonna love the vita! So awesome, so many games, and they look great on the vita. Also preowned vita games are fairly inexpensive at GameStop. Hope you make a follow up video of some games you decide to play. Have fun!

samwizz You're right. It has to be hacked in order to use the app for the SD gamecard adapter. That means finding a vita that hasn't been updated at all to pursue the hack.
I was an early adopter of the Vita and saw its potential. But unfortunately, the expensive memory cards really killed it for me. Especially in an age where full game downloads were becoming a real thing.
I started with 16gb at launch doubling the space each year and never spent more than $80 though micro sd cards are cheaper and sony should have used it

The main reason I got my Vita was to play Persona 4 Golden and was kinda upset to find out that I can no longer play the Spyro and Crash trilogies on it for some reason, I missed out on downloading them before they became unavailable :(

I own and still play my 2000 model PSP... imo it is the greatest portable console ever made.
Not only do you have the PSP's already solid lineup, but it can also play every PS1 game, and has emulators for N64, all Gameboy models (except for the DS and above obviously), arcade games, old PC titles etc etc. And that's not mentioning Quake ports and homebrew software... All on a single portable package!!!
Khaled Taha well it's just as easy to mod a vita , and it will do all those things and more. If you love the psp then get a vita. It honestly blows it out of the water, and it won't be long before the price skyrockets

My problem with the Vita is that it's still way too overpriced, at least where I live. Plus to be able to store all the games and software I mentioned in my comment I would need one large or multiple SD cards. On the PSP these are easily available everywhere at good prices. Vita proprietary cards however are a joke with their baffling price tag even to this day.
While the Vita is superior to the PSP in terms of performance at least, I find it to be a hefty investment that is just not worth it imo (vs the PSP at least). Though I can't deny I'm really dying to play games such as Uncharted Golden Abyss & Killzone Mercenary on the Vita

Update: Just received it on the 30th. I'm so ecstatic...I got 12 vita games,a travel case holds 30 games and 4 memory cards, 32gb memory card, a Hori Remote Play Assist and a Nykon power grip,screen front and back protectors, thumb grips,and I feel like a PlayStation King

Really is a shame this is probably sonys last handheld. I really want to get a vita but the memory cards are so expensive. I may wait until they go down in price soon before picking one up.
If all the years since it's launch are anything to go by it does not look like they will go down in price anytime soon, unless you luck up, and maybe find some for cheap on a Walmart/target clearance shelf. Yes their are micro SD to Vita adapters, but all the reviews I've come across on them makes them out to be sketchy at best.

Yeah, I've been lucky a few times. Found a 1000-series at a used electronics store and a couple of PSTVs under 3.60.
Gabe newell Henkaku let's you spoof any firmware version. Ive used it to get on PSN, but haven't tried it for games that require new firmware.
Nice video, but yeah the cost of the Vita itself, and the Memory cards is what's stopped me from getting one, maybe if I ever catch a deal on a nice used unit with an included memory card I'll get one. Otherwise I'm good with my "NEW" 2DS XL, and my Android phone with a MOGA controller at this point.

powerofdreams666 From all the reviews I've gathered the adapters are flaky at best, don't work well with firmwares past 3.60 which you need if you want to use PSN, or some of the newer games on cards. My Android phone which is a Moto G5 Plus with Android 7.0 4GB RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 64GB micro SD card, and my MOGA Hero Power controller can run all the emulators I could ever want, while still being useful all day long between my job, and family life doing email, calls, txt, etc.. so no thank you on spending more money on something else to run emulators, and only a handful of games I might care about, and when most of them already have ports on the 3DS/2DS platform, and/or Android.
