    Windows 2000 was the peak of windows. It was a stable OS that didn't get in the way. No spying or adverts. To steal a phrase it just worked. Honestly it was down hill from here. Changes just for the sake of it, eye candy that made things worse (it would have been fine had it not reduced functionality or stability). Services that are resource hogs. Microsoft have forgotten that a good OS should be almost transparent.

      It was basically a vintage Windows XP!!! So underrated, though…. Could’ve been both for Business AND Home users, since the name/branding was so unique and iconic!!! This could’ve been where the home users get the NT kernel, and then XP is an updated version.

    • @benrogers84
      @benrogers84 Год назад +1

      @elijahtorres2688 yeah....2000 pro was NT 5 and XP was NT 5.1. I think 2003 server was basically based on XP and was NT 5.2.
      2000 is a great OS. 100% stable with known good hardware and have had well over a year uptime from 2000 Pro before and XP too.

      Windows 10 is one of the most successful and fastest systems..and as long as you have problems with it, you must change the HDD to an SSD, and the RAM must be expanded to at least 8 gigabytes, and if you have viruses or programs that were downloaded illegally, you must delete them and periodically update the Windows system and make sure that there are no malicious programs, and also the processor must be i3 (eighth generation or higher) on the desktop.. or on the laptop the processor must be an i5 of the eighth generation or higher..if the problems do not end with all of the above, you must copy your important files and then format The computer.. it will be as fast as a rocket and as smooth as tap water.

      What difference to between 48MB and GB ram 💭

    • @Xapheus
      @Xapheus 2 месяца назад

      @@JewLorad
      1 GB = 1024 MB
      1 MB = 1024 KB
      1 KB = 1024 bytes
      48 MB of RAM was a lot in the 90s. Yes MB.
      48 GB of RAM is a lot for today (2024); 16 GB and 32 GB are common though.
      Our early 90s one had 2 MB of RAM, and mid-late 90s had 16 MB.
      Early 00s: 32 or 64 MB. Mid 00s 512 MB (2005). 2 GB (2006), 8 GB (2010), 16 GB (2020), 32 GB (2024).
      The doubling of RAM (at least in my computers) apparently slowed down, but 48 MB was a relative lot for most of the 90s. Computer capability growth over time has long been exponential (Moore's Law).

    This was one of my sought after models and I finally got a chance to get one from Computer Reset before it closed it’s doors. Years of heat in the warehouse made the plastic drive rails brittle and I had to hot glue to power button back to the chassis. The outside never yellowed though and it works just fine. Which would reduce me to tears in seconds as i was only 5 at the time!!

      Go to system properties on any Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 or NT system and you will see the memory reported in megabytes. I checked some of my systems just in case I was misremembering something. XP was Win2K with eye candy. If one had experienced NT 4.0 with manual driver installation and Win98 with its instability, Windows 2000 was an absolute revelation. It had NT’s stability and plug and play drivers. I was smitten. I liked XP, but stayed with 2000 as long as I could because, believe it or not, I loved the startup and log off sounds. I wish it was easier to use them with Win10 and 11.
      I’m no Luddite. 64 bit rocks, but the bloat, ads and spyware since Windows 7 really put me off. I’m tired of having to strip that stuff out every time I install Windows. I’d rather pay MS for the OS and not have to deal with a web account and the rest. Ah well.
      I do miss Windows 2000. It was simple, stable and customizable if you wished. I get misty-eyed…
