I absolutely adored the last series and was genuinely afraid Netflix had done what it always does and quietly cancelled it. So happy to see Zero coming back!
Look I know that saying a song, a book or a show "saved" someone from a slump or depression is generally viewed upon as. "If it could be solved by a goddamn show, then it wasn't that big a deal to begin with." And I agree mostly on that... However Zerocalcare's books has legit gotten me out of a major slump of uselessness. Feeling that I wasn't the only one in the world, thinking and doing the things I do made me a bit self-aware with myself. Don't get me wrong, I still have the odd sense of feeling like a sack of sh*t, here and there. And the feeling probably won't leave anytime soon (or ever for that matter.) But it's really good to know that someone else struggling the same way and is still prevailing to this day.
Zero helped a lot of people like you. It's totally valid, art SHOULD be like this! His books are so deep and talk about problems we all got, and the ones that nobody talks about so we can see ourselves in his words. He's a man just like me and you. That's why his art works so much, he tells the truth about mental health, relationships, politics and social roles
This last season helped me alot accepted alot of things in my life, thanks to it, it helped me grow up and enjoy more to life while understanding that i am who i am. Thank you for giving this show another season
Watch it in the original language (with subs) so you don't loose the true nature of how it's supposed to come across. Looking forward to this one, for sure. The first of this story was great.
I'm from Rome, i speak tge exact same roman dialect used inbthis cartoon, and i must say that the english dub is perfect. The subtitles can't effectively translate the extremley local jargon used here. This dubbing however is an almost perfect adaptation.
@arx3516 awesome I was really worried it was losing some of the magic but it seems it's just as great for english speakers like myself I loved the dub a ton the effort on the VAs part is insanely addicting
I opened up Netflix, saw the trailer for this, and just binged the entire series! I don't watch movies/tv shows often and I must say this show is brilliant! Had to watch it at 0.75 speed because damn, Italians speak so fast that I couldn't keep up with the subtitles. But such a good display of different personal struggles and complex dilemmas. Brilliant!
You saw the show but you say "Italians speak fast" despite the fact that he himself said, in the first episode, that many Italians were criticizing him for speaking too fast, with roman slang/dialect and mumbled voice? Well, i guess generalizing is always easier.
@@jackieyo6128 i was watching first episode normal speed and missed a lot because of that. And there's many characters in series, they all speak pretty fast to me 😅
Seeing more from the makers of dotted line really makes me happy. It was absolutely my favorite slice of life animation ever. everything in it seemed so real in capturing the lives of 30 year olds today.
This is not a second season guys, it's a complete different story with the same characters in the same world. Zero (the comic artist and creator of the series) does this with his comics too
I can't believe how much is lost in translation. It's insane, it's almost like a different show in italian. Not to take away credit from the dub, but some jokes are almost too different or don't carry the same impact. I guess it makes sense since it's mostly meant for italians and heavily relies on the language itself and on "inside jokes" to basically create its main atmosphere. That phallus line at the end is so lame in english and it's just one example.
it would be so difficult to adapt the literal meaning of our Italian inside jokes and culture and references.. unfortunately. They can still watch it in Italian with English subs. But they obviously won't get most of the cultural references
Well after the stupidity of canceling Inside job, not saving Final space and instead making that awful Cleopatra, Netflix did something right this time.
Just finished the series and hope they make a season 2, although not as heartfelt as the 1st show, it still had its life lessons and charm as the 1st series, def do not skip this series
met all my expectations i got from watching tear along the dotted line. was actually going to netflix to rewatch that and was pleasantly surprised to see this
Como eu tô ansioso pra ver isso, que nostalgia. Espero que essa temporada seja tão boa quanto a primeira. (não, espera, ela vai ser sim, eu tenho certeza.) 🥰
Because it probably is, in the original italian dub the protagonist (which is also the comic artist) narrates a part of his life and voices his friends
Everybody but his conscience voiced by the same person (Zero) is the representation of the story narrated by his and his only point of view. In the first series in the final episode, due to causes that I'll not explain to avoid spoilers, finally Zero escapes from his own world of thoughts and only in that moment all the characters starts to speak with different voices (and different voice actors) NB these series are not a season 1 and a season 2, there is no narrative of the characters, the author (Zero) explains through his works his world, so don't expect a sort of characters' development
Because they are all (except the armadillo) voiced by one guy. It's like a friend of you telling you a story that happened to him, continually digressing and pointing out and, in the story, he obviously voices everyone.
I think they should've give at least Secco a strong accent, like texan or irish or something, he's too weird this way lol Also wouldn't "my ass" be a better translation for "stocazzo"? "My cock" is literal but it's a way of saying, so i think my ass would fit better
Because they are all (except the armadillo) voiced by one guy. It's like a friend of you telling you a story that happened to him, continually digressing and pointing out and, in the story, he obviously voices everyone.
I'm always in favor of classic animation but at the same time I can detect some very meek humor here, hopefully the trailer is just selling itself short.

It's a win for Italian cartoonists and animators!
"Tear Along the Dotted Line" is one of the best cartoons I've seen in recent years. I really can't wait to see these characters return!
Fun Fact: In the Brazilian dub, Zero has the same voice actor as Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.
That makes the Spider-Man reference so much better!

The English dub is pretty good! It's a bit slower, and still as funny :)
Apparently that's because Roman dialect is ridiculously fast. Even for other Italians.
recommended the first part to friends - they didn't get it, but i totally love it. its so gooooood. glad they're doing a second part

"Questo mondo non mi renderà cattivo" literally mean something like "This world won't make me a bad person " which is not the same as the chosen title
the English adaptation is not bad tho, it has a similar meaning and the "can't" has a deeper message than "won't" imo
