For the discussion with Sergio, Matt said (2:36:26) that at no point does it say that the owner of the colt granted the permission to take the colt. In Luke 19:29-35, the owner of the colt DOES come running out. But the verse simply says that the disciples replied with, "the lord needs it". The passage does NOT, however, specifically say that the owner gave permission.
The Javier's technique seems more a technique that could influence a Christian who is starting to deconstruct to in fact comes back stronger to their faith, or a technique that encourages them to convert to Judaism.
I loved Arthur's call. Specially the end where he teels jimmy to go fuck himself. That made my sides hurt. Jimmy I know you don't take that seriously. But we love you
The commentary about Superman is quite good, In most situations indeed he's not brave, having such superhuman power makes him basically invulnerable against most threats, he has nothing to fear agsinst most assailants or even natural disasters, but he indeed is very noble for not abusing his powers maliciously and seeking to just be a good person and use them to do good deeds he's not required to do, he's in most ways way more noble than pretty much all gods, Even those confirmed real in each version of Superman's own universe (which have god beings native) and the various god versions in the local DC multiverse, that's why Superman is so beloved, in most cases he consistently does the right thing and is not tempted by delusions of grandeur or greed or spite or vengeance, this is what a good moral standard looks like, he's nice and anti-killing, to a fault sometimes
It occurs to me, that I think I have a bigger moral quandary of the first contact with non-sapient extra-terrestrials than I do with obviously sapient ones...

Ben's thought experiment about qualia is interesting to me. So the thing about experiencing color and any other sensory input is that it is dependent on the neural and sensory structures of the person. The human brain does not have any mechanisms to accurately recreate an entirely unique experience from the description of the physical mechanisms of experience. The experience of red is the very manner in which "red" stimuli impacts the brain. Knowing what red is and how it would impact your brain will not necessarily recreate the experience of red; even if you are aware 100% of how your brain would respond to seeing red, you wouldn't be able to imagine red unless you received or remembered stimuli which recreated that neural process.
Paul's constant "im so sorry. Im a nice guy really" stchick that he always does is so fake and transparent. Trying to insinuate that Matt was beaten by a complete loon in his "debate" was very telling.
I feel like Theo's argument in a nutshell was basically: "Well if we define knowledge to include things that we don't actually know are true, then christianity is suddenly true". Which is an argument so pathetic that I'm losing brain cells just thinking about it.
Theo demonstrated nothing more than that HE'S AN NPC!!!! He literally DID NOT engage with any of the questions that Jimmy and Matt posed. He literally waited for the main characters to stop talking and then continued with his script.
Matt, a basic concept of Judaism is struggling with God. For most secular Jews, this now means struggling with the concept of God. On this one, the caller might not have had the werewithal to put it into words that struggling with the concept of God is a major part of Judaism, but it is and it stems from the metaphor of the Jacob vs the angel story.
Jimmy please take care of yourself. But, you are also my absolute favorite voices in the atheist community. To quote the great KC & the Sunshine Band “The minute you walk out that door 🎶 [Chorus] So please don't go Don't go Don't go away Please don't go Don't go I'm begging you to stay” ♡
The Mary color thought experiment about qualia sounds like the logic games and riddles they gave us in third grade. According to my gifted teacher , Ms W, she would've ended class after we all chewed on it by saying , "She can't learn anything new , she already knows everything !" And then half the class would groan and the other half would cheer.
That qualia conversation was for me tho , I have listened to y'all debate it but I've never heard it explained that quickly and clearly for my squirrel brain to understand it
It’s largely a repackaging of a major facet of the transporter problem, interestingly. Is there something different about actually doing the thing versus magically knowing everything about it? If someone is a 100% perfect copy of you, are they you?
I’m surprised they didn’t pick up that Theo was a Darth Dawkins minion, using his script word for word. But then against they probably haven’t spent as much time as I have on Discord servers where you hear all of his minions trying to use his script against Atheists, which is super cringe.
Another option for the "miracle knowledge of the donkey" is that Jesus tied up the donkey in that place, and decided to use it as a 'test of faith" and told the people around where the donkey was tied up to ask, but to just let the people take it if he is mentioned. Seems rather simple. I feel like I'm telling people how to start a religion now... since that is a very likely scenario and how some people have done things to start religions or a sect of one, such as Joseph Smith.

Romania-France.
I really do like George's call. And I love how Matt really broke down just how immoral and unjust the concept of hell is.
They are getting pretty good at beating up the unprepared callers as they attempt to justify their beliefs. Not a fair match and the premise here is failing. How about toning it down a notch?
@@adrianjanssens7116 they don't call out, its not their fault that people call in with bad arguments.
Not that I've seen any apologist remotely give a good argument.
@@ReiperX All they have is their faith. This will not go far in talking with Matt. He overcomes them with sound and solid argument. We both know the winner in every instance. Thank you Matt and thank you to the apologists who will not give up in trying to demonstrate the unreal. Without these determinists, this show would not exist.
Matt, you were right to walk. I turned it off after the heart stone thing because he was incomprehensible and (not diagnosing here) nuts.
Thanks for your excellent show. I was lucky enough to be born to parents who thought religion was the ethnic food we ate. No one spoke to me about god. I paid no attention to any of it around me. I raised two atheist sons. When their little friends said they would go to hell I told them that parents of badly behaved kids say that to try and make them be good but they were already good so just ignore it. Also, when it came to their penises I said that they were great toys and the best place to have fun with them was in their rooms and not at the diningroom table. That was all the rules they had. They are great men who have no interest in religion or any nonsense that goes with it. I did my job. I wish someone had done the same for you.
41:33 great call! I sometimes get frustrated with how antagonistic Matt can be. It is calls like this where he just uses pure logic that keep me coming back
I regularly get frustrated with how needlessly antagonistic Matt can be a lot of the time. I think he does it because he knows it gets more views than a pleasant discussion. But I 100% agree with you that his logic remains on point.
If I had been listening to the same 4 or 5 awful theist arguments for decades I imagine I’d get pretty antagonistic too 😅
@@eliaschristo8492My response to that would be… wouldn’t you then realize that it may be time for other hosts to hold the reins? Or, at the very least, share airtime with those other hosts instead of dominating the dialogue like 99% of the time.
The people who tick Matt off are typically being completely disingenuous with their BS. If people cannot call in and be straight forward, then they deserve exactly what they get when Matt decides to go Ballistic. You can't get any more basic then what Matt asks. He simply asks "What do you believe and why" and these MFing theists can't ever give a straight answer. They literally go on preaching rants that go absolutely nowhere. He tosses out other simple questions asking theists to justify the stuff they JUST said and they can't. These theists are reading a script half the time or trying to repeat something they heard the other half and don't even fully understand the crap they are spewing. It gets ridiculous.
disagree. Matt is antagonistic almost entirely to people who don't want to have a conversation and are wasting time.
First first caller Paul, all I could think about or imaging him looking like was Randy Quaid’s character “cousin Eddie” in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 🤣
Huge congrats on 100k subs Jimmy and matt and the whole line channel!
Matt, pipin aint easy, lmao!
Matt do you have a channel dedicated to your snake hobby? Iv been dying to see your snake keeping/breeding content.
Thumbs up to everything except the
𓆙 𓆙 𓆙
I believe Matt shows snakes on Instagram.
I like and run…
Jimmy and Matt are a great team 👍
I do appreciate their hard work and the hard work of all at the show.
I’m lucky in that I don’t live in a country where so many are desperate to replace democracy with theocracy.
Paul calling is also helping to rid thee world of theism with his theist calls 😊.
Keep up the good fight all at the show guys ✌️
Btw I’m a Brit 🇬🇧
Indeed, Paul is doing great work for the eradication of theism.
Ha! Paul thought he had pearls.
"We'll fix that"
Made me giggle
Who gives a shit?
I can tell Jimmy and Matt felt a little deflated by Ben, but I learned something new from this talk so mission accomplished
props on that Arthur call. handled soo well. Kudos Arthur and good luck on your journey pal.
“I have now shown that my brain sucks” I have to admit, that made me chuckle.
I'm not a proctologist, but I know an asshole when I see one. Seeing someone bleeding from their asshole and saying they need to see a doctor, that's not diagnosing, that's stating the obvious. When someone is spewing insane beliefs, saying they need professional help isn't a diagnosis, it's stating the obvious.
48:35 justice
So I don’t pay for ad-free RUclips. My ad break went like this:
Matt Dillahunty: “Paul’s so stupid that he actually gave us a clip right now which will outperform a lot of other clips which will also not only bolster the show, and increase the number of people who are watching it, but it will also demonstrate that we’ve had yet another smug, dishonest Christian call in…”
Ryan Reynolds: “Recently, for no reason at all…”
I love it when commercials fit absolutely perfectly I've had a couple that just lined up so well
It's really scary to know that these callers are driving on our highways.
They’re voting too
Paul, who thought he knew the bible better than Matt, failed to recognise that he's the swine.
That's All Folks.
Love the show, but I wished that those televangelist, pastors, and some well known church leaders would have the balls to call your show and provide their arguments for the existence of a god, not just their uneducated, naive, followers. I understand why the don't, the don't want to proven wrong, or dishonest to the world, they are fricken cowards
DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH
most of them know its bullshit,, and they rather convince their followers to call in for them
There was a Catholic Priest who called in two or three weeks ago. Tom, I think. He seemed a nice enough guy, but dear me, his evidence was awful and he couldn’t back up a single aspect of his religion. It was very telling, but people actually go to these folk for advice and guidance 🤦🏻♂️
The irony of the Pearls before swine verse applying to Paul's brain not even trying to engage is hilarious and sad.
When Howard moved to Spain, the average IQ in Britain had a sharp incline.
But Spain's flattened out a bit.
Paul sounds like Festus from Gun Smoke
The Javier's technique seems more a technique that could influence a Christian who is starting to deconstruct to in fact comes back stronger to their faith, or a technique that encourages them to convert to Judaism.
He did say that. He said twice that it was to help people who were already on their way.
i really enjoyed the call with George, it was interesting and honest and it sounded like he got a lot out of it. keep up the good work The Line crew
Me too. I hope he thought about it more after the call ended.
I loved Arthur's call. Specially the end where he teels jimmy to go fuck himself. That made my sides hurt.
Jimmy I know you don't take that seriously. But we love you
Sergio sounded like he was on the verge of tears by the end, lol, poor dude.
I want that sweater, Jimmy! Where does one find that?
"I did twenty fucking years" Matt's a gangster.😂😂😂
This conversation should be discussed a lot more often. Kate Cohen wrote a book on this topic. The title is "We of Little Faith." Great read.
16:00 he gave us a clip
It occurs to me, that I think I have a bigger moral quandary of the first contact with non-sapient extra-terrestrials than I do with obviously sapient ones...
Shid, grats on the 100k
How come I haven't learned anything from the Xtian callers--absolutely nothing. They don't listen, are disrespectful, and have learned steadfast dishonesty is a virtue because their fairy god is listening.
Well, in all fairness you did learn several things- that most theist callers do not listen and display steadfast dishonesty. 😅
Watched the debate I had to walk out before you did, I don't blame you for leaving.
If God exists, he doesn’t want us to know he exists, obviously, or else we would know. So, if God exists, why does he not want us to know that he exists?
Abraham Lincoln vampire Hunter was a fantastic documentary 😊
I will miss this great duo. Jimmy I look forward to your participation.
Learn your family's recipes and keep their memory alive.
Regarding Sergio, Jimmy you said: You're being dishonest.
I think Hanlon's razor applies here. He's just not ready (or capable) talking to you guys.
But I did see you both giving it your all trying to help him to do so. And that is why I love you.
Being mad at the injustice in the world is a good thing, but god aint gonna fix it, humans have to do it
A lot easier to say you prayed about it than actually getting off your a&& and actually doing something about it.
Whenever Arthur calls in I'm always endeared to him. He seems to be really trying to help himself through his condition and he is such a lovely man.
I wish him all the best on his journey. He has the right attitude help himself on his way. ❤
This seems to be a dig at Arthur being nonbinary that’s just disguised as a compliment on their personality. Like half of what you said was just overusing masculine pronouns and saying they’re a man.
Why would anyone take time and effort out of their day to do this? It’s petty and doesn’t really achieve anything.
@jacobismithenshire1238 wow! What a sanctimonious reply. This reveals so much more about you and it's pretty low to jump all over what was a genuine message from me to satisfy something lacking within yourself.
It's people like you that make things worse with your dogmatic response to a very innocent post. You've now turned it bitter. I hope you're pleased with yourself in your own warped way.
Next time, I suggest you ask someone about their intent, if they misspoke, miscommunicated etc instead of jumping in feet first and totally misrepresenting them. This will save you a lot of embarrassment.
@@jacobismithenshire1238I hear you on this but I too never realised Arthur was they/them as Jimmy never introduced them that way … I don’t look at the screen .. I go to bed and put the phone on my side table .. so I don’t watch rather just listen .. so this too could be true for @anthonysmith8800 🤷🏽♀️🙂
I don't think we should rule out eating the almond headed aliens... are they delicious?
Paul's constant "im so sorry. Im a nice guy really" stchick that he always does is so fake and transparent.
Trying to insinuate that Matt was beaten by a complete loon in his "debate" was very telling.
Thank you, that crap has been bugging me for months! Such an obnoxious tool.
I have one passage memorised. Ezekiel 25:17, the part of the righteous man.
Yet another awesome closing speech from Matt!
I frikin love that song man, love it.
Well it loves you (back) baby. 🎶
Kudos to George. That kind of honesty can be tough.
Someone else’s script, that he couldn’t understand. Other comments have mentioned it’s a Darth Dawkins script.
awesome show, can't wait for the review of you recent debate Matt
love ya work guys
Sergio is just here to be martyred by Matt. Probably feels very pious after that flaying.
All I can say is “What the fu*k Sergio??”
Sergio's cognitive dissonance was fascinating to watch
Jimmy please take care of yourself. But, you are also my absolute favorite voices in the atheist community.
To quote the great KC & the Sunshine Band
“The minute you walk out that door 🎶
[Chorus]
So please don't go
Don't go
Don't go away
Please don't go
Don't go
I'm begging you to stay”
♡
OMG I wanna hear from Theo every week! HAHAHAHA
That qualia conversation was for me tho , I have listened to y'all debate it but I've never heard it explained that quickly and clearly for my squirrel brain to understand it
It's just wordplay, isn't it.
It’s largely a repackaging of a major facet of the transporter problem, interestingly. Is there something different about actually doing the thing versus magically knowing everything about it? If someone is a 100% perfect copy of you, are they you?
Just to say, I appreciated hearing about e-sword. I am motivated to take a look only because of the callers’s own interest.
I feel like I'm telling people how to start a religion now... since that is a very likely scenario and how some people have done things to start religions or a sect of one, such as Joseph Smith.
and Kent said don't pay those taxes ....and if they ask say ...it's for the lord :P
Jimmy, your a good guy man. No need to justify it brother. 👍
Ignorance arrogance seems to be the bottom line of christian belief
At least we know that theo can read
Hypocrisy and arrogance imo
I usually would say its a little shady to leave a debate but it was the best thing to do. Once he said Prince Charles was a family member of Dracula i said ok Howard's in above his head.
Sergio's call is like listening to someone chew gravel.
Jimmy, we gotta keep Texas Paul coming back. He's got a delicious vendetta for you guys. He will not stand down! He is representing the almighty!😁
Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter confirmed.
Theo demonstrates that a person can use large sciencey sounding words while reading something they found online and claim that it proves something that it never even discusses. (ie. a theist googled some shit)
reminds me of witsit getsi trying to prove flat earth
Javier's call was the most interesting, in my opinion. Made me want to study the Bible more carefully.
The last point that Jimmy made is exactly why i have more respect for Batman than Superman.
3:!2 the grace in coup de grace is pronounced like grahss
George just kinda described the idea of purgatory o.o
In the words of Barry Shitpeas:
"The interenet's a bit like a killing machine... it can't forgive..."
