I tried this in mach3 and it worked...i used ur other tutorial for bl and had .014 in x and .008 in y and 0 in z...thank u...no more egg shaped circles and bad sized parts
Thanks for the great video. I like that table on your machine. I bet that makes set up a breeze with all kinds of shapes and sizes. Is your milling machine a SAIG X3?
This video held the answer to my problems but I always skipped watching when I saw it was 10 minutes long. You should put a brief description in the info on what needs to be done, you know, for people like me. Thanks!
I got my backlash compensated perfect at 20% like you have shown and the acceleration is at .005 however when I change to 100% or any other percent other than 20 my backlass goes back to where it started at around .006. I guess its ok to leave it at 20% but it makes a knocking noise and I am not sure if this is goo for the stepper ? Do you have any suggestions. Thank you for all the great videos. Dale
I have leedscrews instead of a ballscrews on my cnc machine (with anti-backlash nuts), should I have to worry about backlash? and how do you know if you have any backlash? can I measure for it with a dial indicator? thx
You could measure the backlash by putting the dial indicator stand on the bed, while pushing it against the mill head. zero the indicator, move the head some distance in one direction, then the same distance back. How far it lands from the zero point is how much backlash you have on that axis.

Well bugger me. I’ve been battling with the slow backlash for a long time in Mach3. Thanks for the fix. 👍
Dan,Thanks you very much for this and all your videos. You can not imagine how helpful you have been.

Sounds much better your right! Great job
Exactly what I was looking for. Awesome video.
It didn't work. It doesn't make any difference at all enabling the backlash comp. Ideas?
Im going to try this on my mini cnc mill with egg shaped circles

Very helpful, it helps my plasma table cuts more rounder.
Thanks!
Great video, thanks very much for taking the time (and stock!) to make it.
wow thanks!! now my circles are cutting more precise! :D
Thanks hossmachine! This video has finally solved my problem with my Z axis.

Thanks!
is backlash compensation function available for mach3 usb motion controller ? or only for parallel ports controller?
Thank you very much for the information. I am one of those who disliked the sound my machine makes with backlash turned on. Liked and Subscribed
Great Tutorial for backlash setup, thanks for sharing!

@physiist777 I use Syn-kool, a safe waterbased coolant. this was HSS
Did you ever fix this problem? I am also getting mildly warped circles out of our mill.
