hello friend, thanks so much for watching again (or giving my videos a try for the first time). today i wanted to take you through what a day is like as at durham university student with all my assignments due. summative season is a notoriously stressful time during the school year, so i wanted to be realistic about what its like while also trying to maintain a social life.
if you're reading this far, tell me when your next assignment is due in the comments (and be honest hehehe)

Hello Syd I've been binging your videos as you're one of the few international students who makes videos post-covid and was wondering if you could spare the time to answer some questions about the uni either on here or some social media (I do not have IG unfortunately)
yea fire away!!! i’ll make a video answering some of your questions!!
@@sydewing That's really kind of you but please don't feel pressured to make a whole video just for sake! I'm currently applying for Law and I've narrowed my offers down between Durham and Glasgow and there's a number of factors that I'm considering as an international student whos spent most of their life being an international student in the middle east. (Also I visited Durham last summer, so I've sort of tasted the city's atmosphere).
1. Do you have any regrets coming to Durham compared to any other UK or Canadian Unis? I've also gotten into UofT but I don't think I'll be considering it much further due to the sheer distance of moving and lack of knowledge about the place.
2. Do you happen to know any queer students' experiences of the Uni, whether the support is sufficient and if they are too singled out in the crowd? This one is probably unlikely, but if you know any transitioning students, do you happen to know/could you ask them the ease of accessing gender-affirming care?
3. A major problem for me between my final two choices is prestige vs social life. Glasgow happens to be a very vibrant city with loooaaads of diversity but their post-grad employment rate is the lowest of the top 20 Unis in the UK despite having a 4 year course. On the upside, they do have a scholarship and the course does enable Canada and Australia as possible futures but I'm not quite certain on the actual statistics. Enough about them though. What I wanted to ask about Durham in this case was whether social life and communities are limited to colleges and the Uni's societies? If so is that a limiting factor to the variation of activities you can do or WANT to do?
4. As a second part to the last question, just how common is it amongst students to take the train to Newcastle on their days off? And if you do take part in this could you let me know what the biggest differences are between the cities as I was not able to visit Newcastle.
It would mean sooo much if you could answer these as I don't know anyone whos studied in either of these unis pre or post pandemic! I would also really appreciate it if you could connect me with anyone whos currently studying Law at Durham
omg these are all really good questions, im defo gonna make a vid! let me ask around about the LGBTQ support and i should have a video made within the week!!
@@sydewing thank you so much I really appreciate it!
hi lovely, i've just filmed and edited the video! it'll be up tomorrow at 3 pm UTC!
