    It's ALOT like the ol' sayin': the difference between a prototypical realistic rail car vs. a cast resin prototypical car is the craftsmanship of the car. You just CAN NOT beat wooden cars!
    ..And you can't beat brass!!

    Ahh Howard. I had a couple of interesting telephone conversation with him in 1989 after I purchased my first brass C&O loco, a Key J3A Greenbrier. I think the phone call lasted around 45 minutes to an hour which was pretty costly as I'm in Australia. Then in 92 I bought two H8's off him, a Key Last Run H8 and PFM Fujiyama H8. I'm pretty sure I bought my C&O K3 Mikado's off Howard as well.

    A truly beautiful scenic railroad. Love it. The H8 is magnificent.

    The video is great, but I think I'd like my home looking down on the trains verses up.......hahaha.

    Magnificent!!! After seeing this video, I started thinking I gotta get some kind of HO brass articulated steam loco in my large HO brass steam engine collection. I don't have any yet. One, or perhaps 2 articulated steam locos I'll try to get... hopefully, in the near future. That H-8 2-6-6-6 Steamer is AWESOME! Seeing this video makes me want to spend money! Geez! 😅 And, as always, I enjoyed seeing Howard's magnificent layout. 👍😉

    The clean looking double door box car derailed due to trucks being a bit tight. I fixed it in a few seconds, and we then placed it back in the train. This is a flat resin kit and is most definitely a craftsman kit and quite satisfying to build. Andre is correct, he caught me at a weak moment as I love this loco, but I still have a customized Akane/Gem H8 which is also quite good. Andre is one of my disciples in the brass field and will have a fine home for it.

    Beautiful locomotive. If I could choose between an Allegheny and a Big Boy, I would choose the Allegheny every time even though it was smaller and weighed less.

    • @asdfdsa45
      @asdfdsa45 3 месяца назад

      It really wasn't smaller, just shorter. Sort of like comparing a 7' 2" tall basket ball player who weighs around 325 pounds with a lineman who is say 6' 4" but weight nearly 400 pounds. Big Boy = basketball player, Allegheny = Lineman. Is this a good analogy or what!? I love both locomotives of course and I wish that now, one of the two surviving Alleghenies would/could be restored. Or do like the T1 project and build a brand new Allegheny from original blueprints and as it is built, make modernized improvements along the way like they did with the Big Boy.

      @@asdfdsa45 Allegheny weight engine only 771,300 lb (1600-1644), 751,830 lb (1645-1659). There were three tenders used all with different weights. Big Boy engine only 4884-1: 762,000 lb, 4884-2: 772,250 lb. Two tenders with different weights. The lighter one used with the lighter version and the heavier one used with the heavier version. The heaviest Allegheny tender outweighs the heaviest Big Boy tender by 1100 lbs. Combining the heaviest Allegheny tender with the heaviest locomotive outweighs the heaviest Big Boy with the heaviest tender by 150 lbs, but does not help tractive effort. Adhesive weight for the Big Boy 4884-1: 540,000 lb, 4884-2: 545,200 lb. Adhesive weight for the Allegheny 507,900 lb (1600-1644), 504,010 lb (1645-1659). I still prefer the Allegheny.

    Would Howard be up to an open house to view his s spectacular layout? Maybe could do it one of the weekends during the Timonium shows that he started?

    • @alpugliesetrains9753
      @alpugliesetrains9753  3 месяца назад

      Not at this time. One of my channels purposes is to share these layouts with the viewers by doing multiple video features as many of them do not have upcoming open houses for multiple reasons that would take quite some time to explain. We do not live in the same times as the past as security is now one of many issues. Hope that will change one day.

      It's in the works as we get the bugs out running there will be longer videos. Believe it or not many complain about long videos but I intend to do them anyway
