Bro...I had Believer and Vengeance playing on my cassette deck boom box back in the early day when my dad told me to paint the house....I felt tortured at that moment but blessed by the Metal at that same time...I miss my dad...he died in 2007....He would of been cranking 80 years of age if he lived today
Great technical thrash and an incredible live show. They are widely considered one of the big 4 in the Christian thrash/speed scene. This and the debut are excellent!
Believer is a great technical thrash band. The band definitely have explored Christianity and faith in their songs, but also social-political and environmental and other issues as well. I hope you will check out more from Sanity Obscured, like Nonpoint. That is a killer song. They put out the first three albums and then went on hiatus for many years, and came back with Gabriel and Transhuman, both great records. The last thing they did was release 3 two song EPs out of a planned 5 that was leading up to a full album but they stopped for unknown reasons. So whether they are still active is up in the air at this point. Dimensions is my favorite out of all of their albums, but I think many find preferred Extraction from Mortality and/or Sanity Obscured.
I always liked thier intros to their thrashy songs. After the intro though, it's just noise as usual lol. I still liked this band back in the day, and listend to them frequently. I also liked thier classical symphony mixed songs. Dies Irae is one of em; Trilogy is another, I forgot the rest though.
Believer are excellent. One of the the earliest metal bands to incorporate strings and operatic vocals. The first album Extraction from Mortality is really heavy, fast, and aggressive. Unite is an excellent album opener; it has an intro before it gets into the main song around 1:30 (just to warn you 👍). Sanity Obscure builds on the first album but is more technical. Check out Dies Irae. Dimensions is still technical. The big highlight on that album is the 20 minute track The Trilogy of Knowledge. Gabriel was their comeback album. More of a modern metal sound, still heavy and still has thrashy moments.
I have their original demo and some old live videos- amazing band especially for being christian metal! Did a cool cover of the Munsters theme song lol
@ShaneDiablo it's on vhs so...I gotta get someone more knowledgeable than I to transfer the media. I am old enough that I was a teen when it was happening and I tape traded and bought vids and demos from the bands. I have a Lotta Bride stuff but some ov it is online already. Some old Vengeance and also Deliverance before either were signed etc.
As far as I know Believer as a band is on inactive status. They were in 2017 releasing 2 track EPs (for a better lack of terms) 1of5 2of5 and 3of5 but stopped releasing them abruptly. No reason given. Believer started out life as a cover band and then more of a traditional metal band and became thrash as they realized they could write thrash songs better than any other style. I first heard of them when I bought the compilation album East Coast Metal and their song The Chosen. Which is a song that doesn't appear on any release but ECM. Are they a Christian band? The answer to that is Yes and No. You will need to read interviews by the band to fully understand that. Extraction from Morality remains to this day as one of my all time favorite thrash albums.
From what I had read one of their new members had medical problems. Then not many fans liked the new art of their possible new album - that never came out.
I love this band. Trust me when I say Dimensions is LOADS better than Sanity Obscure album wise. Singularity is Must for some technical thrash. I always say Believer walked so Vektor could run.
Once it got past the trippy opening, I thought the initial riffs were cool but then I turned quickly annoyed when the vocal kicked in....sooooooo..... I don't know whether to consider this a split or an abandonment.....
Fully understand. They are an acquired taste. I myself back in 1989 couldn't get enough of their debut album. If you want a trippy opening check out the song Dies Irae.

This album is one of my all-time favorites. Masterpiece.

I heard this band on a compilation album At Death's Door back in the day...I think the song was Not Even One and I remember it was a real banger!!!
Yep
Great choice man holy cow! Teenage favorite, played this song on the way to my wedding! Not that they are my favorite, just fit my mood ha

Kinda reminded me of early Sepultura Beneath the Remains era, with DRI. Never heard them. ☕️🫖👍🤟

Shane you made me laugh but you were right on when you said, " it had some meat on the bone."

Have you uploaded the live video? I and many people would love to have a look at that!

I notice you don't like the long intros ...
I don't mind a long intro, but when I have to sync the song to the video they can get a little long.. haha
