I'm an avid track and field fan. I follow the college and pro levels. I've been rooting hard for Masai since college. I'm so happy she's finding her stride.
First, shout out to FASST Track and field club, home of Masai Russell. Second, shout out to Masai's parents for being the shield and support she needed to get to where she is today. Third, Masai has ALWAYS been that Dog! I have had the privilege of being Masai's youth track coach. I coached her two brothers (Devine and Zion) and her sister (Solei). They are all dogs! All great athletes and people. Masai deserves this space. She deserves the attention. Her work ethic and determination have made her the champion she is today. Great job to the Pivot for inviting this phenomenonal woman to your platform. Keep doing it Masai. You know we are proud of you, and we always have your back.
Masai is so lovely. Shes so nice when you meet her in person. The 100mh is the hardest team to make. It’s a very technical race. All season she’s handled her wins and losses with such grace. She is what many athletes go through. It’s not always roses. She’s very personable. Keep being great Masai!!
She is my fav hurdler. She is very social. She is one of the few that replies to comments & messages I told her as well stop reading those negative comments. Those ppl do not know what it takes. She is amazing. I was in the stadium when she WON that GOLD in Paris. I cried bc I knew how her season started. So happy she never gave up.
Thanks for putting this young lady on this spotlight and giving her this moment!!! PG County … D.C. Let’s go!!!!!!! PS … you need to put Quincy Wilson on your show that he also won Olympic Gold medal from the same high school and PG County !!! We breed champions!!! You better ask somebody!!
Masai is absolutely jaw dropping beautiful. The warrior spirit and goddess spirit is from Africa and a part of our ancestry. Her name is as well, so her relentless pursuit is not a surprise in what she knows that she will do. I hope to encounter her someday in a positive space.
Would love to see this lady, Masai add the 100m flat to her repertoire. Congrats to her for her triumphant win in the women's 100m hurdles at Paris Olympics. Masai , focused, hungry and determined. All the best for 2025.
Loved, loved, loved this interview! Thank you for acknowledging Track and Field. It’s nice to see the sport that afforded me great opportunities in life growing so much.
The fellas are always on point with their research of their guests. They are really doing this thing for real and being intentional. Has to be appreciated by the guests. Good stuff fellas!
Thanks Pivot for hosting someone that the ‘younger’ people can relate to.. please host more younger people.. our children need this kind of inspiration!
LOVE THIS! What a talented and beautiful young lady. Shoutout to Alaysha and Grace also for representing the RW&B at the Olympics in what is arguably the most competitive race in track right now... the 100M hurdles! Its a fast, furious and beautiful race while also treacherous and dangerous.
Congratulations Masai! I am from the DMV, Princess George’s County area. I ran track at Central High School which dominated girls High School Track and Field for almost a decade. There was no Bullis at that time in the 80’s. I went to College on an Athletic Scholarship as well as many who graduated from Central. I wish you the very best in your track career and all your future endeavors! ❤
43:30 "She ain't no savage. She cute." This was lightweight offensive, but I laughed so hard. I saw his point though. She's a very pretty girl and kinda doll-faced so it's harder to look at her with a savage mentality. But when she started talking about being in competition, you saw it come through. She's not fuggin around.
49:51 I want to be mad at her for thinking Freaknik was in the '60s, but if she doesn't know, she doesn't know. Fred pulled a Super Channing with the "you could stand up." I had to rewind that back to make sure that line came from the person I thought it did.
I follow Masai #1 because she seems to be so humble and authentic. Another thing is the school that her and Big guy Quincy Wilson is currently attending and she attended is producing not just fast athletes but some well spoken students as well. I have watched them both and OMG they sound so mature not stumbling over their words, etc. Not discrediting their home grooming, but thats not just by happen stance that they sound alike when they speak. Much Love to the parents🫶🏽🎉
We need to get as much track and field exposure as possible. This sport has so much potential To be an elite American sport like football and basketball they just need a spotlight to shine beyond just the Olympics
Congrats again Masai! This was a great show and I enjoyed the conversation on mental psychology because that translates into everything in life! Thanks for sharing.

That's all true. Some need to keep themselves in that "underdog" position to keep winning. It's done by slightly removing yourself off the pedastal. Stepping off of it and earning it each and every time.
I just love Channing authenticity and rawness "WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT THEY THINK"?! Spoken like everybodies favorite uncle!
AND... She's BEAUTIFUL! Regular, degular--naturally, pretty, and a BEAST! So proud of my DMV baby!!💯💯💯💯💯❣️❣️
Yeah, she’s damn near flawless
