AGactress14 The advice I'd give to anyone starting therapy is to tell the truth! Tell them everything that's bothering you, even the super horrible/scary/embarrassing things. The more you tell them, the sooner you can work on it and get better! Do you know what kind of therapy the specialist does? If it's Exposure and Response Prevention/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I'd also add to keep an open mind. At first it may seem like it will never work, but it really can if you work hard at it. This is a great article about this therapy that has a lot of advice on doing Exposure and Response Prevention therapy: www.steveseay.com/exposure-and-response-prevention/ I hope it goes well no matter what therapy it is! Also, if you don't mind, let me know how it goes afterwards! :D
For some reason I can't reply to your comment so I guess I will just reply to my own. Lol. I am not sure what kind of specialist. I haven't been officially diagnosed yet so I am not really sure about the different types of therapies. I will let you know! :) p.s. I love your videos!!!! They are super helpful.
Congratulations on doing the presentation!
Jamie1982 Thanks! :) I got a 100 on the assignment so I was very happy about that!
You moving to the Carolina's??? I live in SC. I've moved a lot. The first couple of months to a year is hard- it takes time to adjust.
Jamie1982 Yes! And thank you for the advice!
Also, it's good we're in the same time zone for our hangout lol! :)
I am going to see an OCD specialist for the first time on Wednesday. Any advice? I am veeeerrrrry nervous. 😁
