      Spoke to BWT, they don't seem to be able to help. Cannot find this product anywhere but on your website and on a few US sites. The UK BWT website does not list this item. This is what they said: "We do not stock these in the UK because it is very unusual to require these.

    This is so helpful! Does the BWT Filtration System have any sort of shut off valve? Would be nice to be able to shut the water off completely for the espresso machine if needed.
    I ordered one of these filtration systems for my pre-ordered ECM Synchronika coming in later this month. Think it's a 1/4-inch water line behind my fridge, going to look and get a T-Splitter to run a water line from there to the BWT Filtration System.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi DM, Thanks for the comment and question. The BWT system does not have a built in shut off valve. When tapping into your household plumbing you could/should add a valve that shuts of water to the system. It's possible to cut off the plumbed water supply to the machine using the water source selector valve underneath the rear of the Synchronika. Set it to the internal reservoir position and outside line pressure is cut. Due to the location of the valve it may be difficult to access if machine is backed up against a wall.

      Pressure regulator is not required for filter operation. But if plumbing from filter to espresso machine be aware many manufacturers specify water pressure input of less than 2 bar/30PSI. That's much lower than typical household plumbing pressure of 4-6bar/60-90PSI.

    How do you adjust the pressure reducer? I have it set to 30 psi. When I'm not using the machine the reducer gauge is sitting at 40 psi and my Synchronika pressure is sitting at 3 bar. When I start pulling a shot the pressure drops to 30 psi and reads 10 bar on the machine. is that ok and normal? Thank you!

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  Год назад +1

      Hi s, That all sounds normal. Set the regulator pressure while the machine is drawing water to produce 30psi which is equal to 2 bar. You're already there. A small difference between reading on the reducer and your machine gauge is normal due to their location of measurement and slight gauge inaccuracy. 3 bar = 44psi. 10 bar on the machine gauge when extracting is within normal range. A lot of people like to see 9 bar. If desired you can adjust the rotary pump bypass to produce a pressure of 9 bar on that gauge with a backflush disc inserted and the pump running. Underneath the rear of the machine is an access hole to the pump bypass which is adjustable with a flat head screwdriver. Here's a video showing how to do that: ruclips.net/video/SnwHWmX4aqw/видео.html
      Honestly I would not worry about adjusting that pressure. Difference between extracting at 9 or 10 bar is essentially undetectable. And, there is a little pressure loss between where that gauge measures right after the pump and in front of a 1 way valve and the pressure in the group head. But some users insist on the 9 bar. Hope that helps!

    With an existing RO system, should i put it after or before the accumulator?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  7 месяцев назад

      Hi c, If you have an existing RO system you do not need more filtration/treatment to remove minerals. What you may need is remineralization of water if that (or a bypass) is not already part of your RO system. If water out of your RO system is zero TDS potential problems like overfilling of boilers which use conductivity probes to monitor boiler fill level can occur. Zero TDS RO water may cause corrosion of metals in espresso machines over time. BWT does have this remin cartridge available for use with RO systems. It uses the same type of flexhead and can be put in line at any point after RO treatment: www.wholelattelove.com/products/bwt-bestmin-premium-m-filter-cartridge

    • @Wholelattelovepage

      Hi kf, 20 gpg is extremely hard water but this filter is capable of dealing with that so long as there are not edge case water issues like high gypsum content. Standard water softening works in a similar fashion to this system but uses sodium to replace calcium ions instead of magnesium.

Open the flush valve on top of the flex head. Allow filter to flush until a continuous stream of clear water is discharged. A liter or two is sufficient.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi LMTN, If your municipal water is at 150 TDS that's relatively soft. Really no need for a water softener. I would connect the BWT filter directly to your municipal water supply. Our TDS is in the 140-150 range and we connect direct. That TDS is well within the operating range of the BWT Bestmax Premium filter.

    No information provided on how to use the pressure regulator and what to expect...

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 года назад

      Hi SD, The pressure regulator is fairly straightforward. Pull out the gray cap to allow for adjustment. Push back in to lock in the adjusted pressure. What pressure to set is determined by use and/or the recommendation of the manufacturer. For instance Porfitec and ECM espresso machines recommend ~2 bar/30psi. Crem espresso machines specify >2bar. Hope that helps!

      Hi Jim, Sorry not back to you sooner as you're doing it now. The little rubber hose can drain both. It's a purge valve. Believe BWT specs draining a liter or 2 of water from that hose when installing a new filter cartridge.
