The adventure mode would actually be Johnny 5 upgraded from part 2. You can tell because he has the multi-frequency remote control. He didn't have that in the first movie.
@gabrielbennett5162 they changed it in the second movie. The antenna on the other side of his head is the one he used in the first movie. The remote control he has in the second movie used to be a sonar.

Actually, he did have it in the first movie. He uses it in one scene to turn Stephanie's TV set back on after she switches it off.
