One just has to be cognizant that it's an inflatable and stay within the limitations of the hull. Even rigid hulls have limitations, pros, and cons. Here are a couple of confidence videos:

    Great video... I'm new to boating...bought an intex boat and after the first use I realized rowing isn't for me... nor trust intex cheap materials. Really interested in this fish skiff for just exploring local lakes or rivers in texas. I'm not a fisher but seams sea eagle is the only brand with actual boat seats instead of bench seats. 90 percent of the time I'll be on the lake with one or two people so this looks perfect. However I would like the option to take wife and two young boys. It seems internal dimensions for seats could theoretically support two tandem seats in front and back? Is this possible? Also looking at fastcat 14 if not. It's just that boat may be overkill for only 2 boaters. Also worry about catamaran stability. Not many videos showing actual performance handling. Could the fast cat flip at high speed and wind if the bow raises?

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats Год назад +2

      Hello Nigel Norwood, thanks for watching! The FishSkiff16 is rated for 3-Person. However, the FastCat14 is rated for 4-Person, which may be closer to what you're looking for. The stability of the FastCat14 and FishSkiff16 are very similar. Both are extremely stable and the FastCat14 is fantastic with 2 people as well. You'll just have more room than with 4 people of course. Both the FastCat14 and FishSkiff16 have been designed against flipping. However, nothing supersedes common sense. Choosing the right conditions, proper load balance, and piloting the watercraft in a safe manner are all important. Not that it would happen but venturing out in conditions in which flipping would even be a consideration is absolutely not safe and is strongly recommended against. For safety reasons we do not recommend venturing out alone, in seas greater than 2 feet, winds greater than 12 mph, during cold water season without proper safety equipment and knowledge, and of course during any storms. Most especially when there are so many nice days available. If you get caught out in any of those conditions, please cautiously pilot the watercraft back to safety as soon as possible. All your questions are good ones. Please stay safe out there and have lots of fun, fun, fun! We hope that you'll consider subscribing to the channel for more informational videos to come. Hi Tom, thanks for watching! We hope you subscribed to the Sea Eagle Boats RUclips Channel for more informative videos to come! To find out approximately how long your electric motor will last take the total amp hours of your battery and divide it by the max amp draw of the electric motor. Example: 100aH battery with an electric motor max amp draw of 50 amps is 100/50= Approximately 2 hrs. runtime. However, keep in mind with lead acid batteries, they don't recommend drawing them down below 50%. For lithium ion batteries you can pretty much draw them completely down.

    "Questions in the comments" ? Ok! How stable is it in rougher water? Choppy whitecaps all bunched together or rolling 3-footers? I know it self-bails, but realistically can it handle big water on a windy day? Also, how stable is it if a very heavy person is sitting in one of the tandem seats and the other seat is empty (also let's add a 100+ lb dog pacing from side to side- are we still deckside up?). Also, what's the total time you need to set up everything ,saying you have the electric pump, tandem seat package, Honda motor, trolling motor setup and a Scotty anchor mount? (no canopy or anything else). I only ask because I'm really intrigued by this one. Thanks!

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats 2 года назад +5

      All great questions. The skiff can handle much more than we can. Although not recommended and please keep in mind we had extreme safety precautions in place. The skiff was field-tested in conditions double of what you mentioned. In most cases, the question isn't what can the skiff handle but what is the most ideal and safe conditions. Always the calmer the better the experience and that's with any hull. The conditions you mentioned are doable but not enjoyable in any hull. Always be certain to wear your PFD at all times.
      We've never heard of the Skiff overturning but with enough side-loaded weight, rough conditions, wind, and the perfect circumstances, anything is possible with just about any hull. Cargo ships are known to roll as a result of load shifting and rough conditions and they are extremely massive. Even load distribution is an important consideration, especially when trying to maximize performance in any hull. A 100+ lb. dog pacing side to side on a proper load distributed FishSkiff16 may not even be noticeable or slightly rock the hull at best. I'm closer to 200 lbs., take friends out all the time, move all over the skiff (as do my friends), and land 60+ lbs. fish all the time with zero issues. The hull is well designed, extremely buoyant and stable, and provides superb secondary stability as well. It also has three separate air chambers for added safety and is still able to make it back to shore should you lose the largest/main air chamber and yes this has been tested.
      Total time set up is dependant on the individual setting up the hull and how it's rigged. Inflation is 17 min. with the Sea Eagle BTP Two-Stage Electric Turbo Pump. Zero on-location setup time for the transom and bow motor mount if you have them pre-installed. All the seats strap in with four straps. So maybe 1-2 mins. per seat. Honda motor clams on so maybe 5 mins with carrying it over to the hull. Trolling motor clips in then attach to Power Center 1-3 mins. Maybe 5 mins total if you consider strapping the Power Center down. Scotty Fishing Products clip-in. So less than 10 seconds per accessory. Looks like around 30 mins or so for the way you intend to rig it. Maybe add 15 additional mins. for the unknown/unexpected. Setup time will also improve the more you do it.
      We hope this all helps. Thanks for watching! We hope you've subscribed to the Sea Eagle RUclips Channel for more videos! Stay safe out there!

    Aloha from Australia, to Hawaiian Dan and The Sea Eagle Team. Great instructional video, very informative, easy to follow, and enticing (for me to purchase one, which I might lol). I have a few questions to ask, if that is okay? And if anybody else reads this, who is boat savvy, please feel free to comment. Hypothetical scenario: I am cruising along in the FishSkiff 16, at around 16mph (26km/h) and the skiff happens to run over a submerged tree branch that is sticking upright, out of the lake. What damage will the skiff incur from such an impact? Is there a increased likelihood that this impact will puncture the craft? Or will it just bounce off, like Hawaiian Dan said the craft does when/if it hits rocks? Also, the engine capacity is 45kg max. for this skiff. I understand it would be unethical of you to personally advise on this idea, but theoretically, if an engine of higher horsepower (like a 44kg, 15hp Suzuki, four-stroke outboard) were attached, would the skiff be able to handle the extra horsepower? Additionally, when on the plane is there much flex in the front of the bow. I saw in a similar video - ruclips.net/video/rclkK0Qm8ko/видео.html - at 2:40 mins. it seems to flex a little near the bow end. Does that affect the hull in any manner? Lastly, the optional bow motor mount can handle a max. weight of 50lb. The Minn Kota Riptide (with spot lock) is approximately 48lb. Are these trolling motors able to be attached to fishskiff's optional bow motor mount? Thank you very much for reading and answering these concerns. As we say in Australia "hooroo mate"

      Aloha bruddah Dimitri MurrayTrout, this is Hawaiian Dan and I luv my Aussie's! Good day mate! Great to hear from you! Hoping to visit Australia one day. Would be great to meet up with Brody Moss from Youngbloods ► ruclips.net/user/Youngbloods.
      Thank you so much for the kind words. Let's see if I can answer your questions for you. In reference to the submerged tree branch question. The material of the FishSkiff16 is called drop stitch technology with roughly 2mm of 1000 denier PVC fabric. It has a high-tensile strength nylon inner woven web sandwiched in between PVC layers, similar to fiberglass cloth but much stronger. What you end up with is high-tensile strength fibers running both horizontally and vertically which when combined with air pressure gives the FishSkiff16 its strength. Which is the strongest I know of on the market. Cheaper hulls cheat here resulting in a lower cost and often lighter weight hull that's subpar.
      With that said, the FishSkiff would most likely bounce off the branch. The only exception would be if the branch or striking point is extremely sharp and strong like an icepick. If it did somehow puncture the hull. The material is designed to help minimize damage. The high-tensile strength fibers are designed to resist tearing. The FishSkiff is also NMMA certified and as a result, has been designed to motor back to safety with the main chamber completely deflated.
      In reference to your 15 hp motor question. You are correct that it would be unethical and reckless of me to advise of anything beyond our specifications. As the U.S. Coast Guard, NMMA, CE, and Sea Eagle Boats, Inc., all collaborate and follow certain rules and regulations to determine such. However, what I can say is that we would have to beef up the transom, perform hours upon hours of additional testing, and reapply for certifications to achieve such. The concept is not beyond reach but requires all the proper steps to be followed and adhered to. Also, we take careful consideration of the captain of the vessel's ability to maintain safe control of the hull at all times and at higher speeds. Again, I strongly advise against exceeding the current specifications.
      In reference to flexing of the hull. Unfortunately, in the video you mentioned the FishSkiff was slightly underinflated which results in a less rigid hull. However, some flexion is desired. This is what provides a softer, less jarring ride.
      Last but not least, in reference to a bow-mounted spot-lock motor. My personal FishSkiff16 has a Minn Kota Riptide with spot-lock attached to the bow. I wouldn't leave home without it. I've been using it for around 5-years now and it performs perfectly. You can see it in action on my personal RUclips channel ► TalkFishTV.com. I hope you'll subscribe and spread da word and aloha in Australia! If you're on Facebook let's keep in touch ► facebook.com/TalkFishTV.comHawaiianDan.

      Thank you for personally clarifying all my queries, Hawaiian Dan. Much appreciated my bruddah!
      It would be awesome to see Brody (from YoungBloods) do a collaboration video with yourself. Seeing the FishSkiff16, up in Western Australia (where Brody films) would be pretty awesome! They get some big fish up that way, from Giant Trevally's, to reef species, and there are alsao plenty of sharks in WA.
      I've been looking into buying the FishSkiff16, ever since I have considered downsizing from the Hilux and tinny I bought a year ago. I was thinking of purchasing a smaller type car again, like a Toyota Corolla, and I know the skiff will fit in the trunk, when the back seats are down flat, and the skiff is deflated, and in its bag.
      I live in Sydney, NSW, almost a country away from Western Australia lol. Here, in this state (and Victoria) we have a fish called, Murray Cod. They are our largest freshwater fish, growing well in excess of 1m+ and strike like a brick s*%t house.
      I was hoping to try and catch my first large Murray Cod, in a lake/dam, via my purchase of the Hilux and aluminium (tinny) boat. However, being a poor university student does make it difficult to afford these vehicles/vessels.
      Therefore, the idea of combining a smaller Toyota, and the FishSkiff16, seemed like an economical and logical option to still chase Murray Cod, yet save a few pennies.
      For a while now, I have been looking into purchasing the FishSkiff16. Then, a fishing channel I follow, here in Oz - The Full Scale - purchased a raft from SeaEagle, which looks kinda similar to the FishSkiff16, reigniting my interest in the product.
      ruclips.net/video/VWFBL7taiRk/видео.html - The raft in this link was stolen by some miscreants, but thankfully some good old-fashioned Aussie citizens assisted in the rafts relocation.
      The Full Scale is a top channel to check out for Murray Cod, along with many others here Down Under.
      If you are ever in NSW, Australia, it would be awesome to see you snag one of these behemoths out of your FishSkiff16, unless I have beat you too it in my own lol.
      Will definitely subscribe to your channel, Hawaiian Dan. Aloha from Down Under! Cheers mate :)

The Murray Cod is an absolutely gorgeous fish and I subscribed right away! The hull they have is the 375fc FoldCat, is great, and truly beloved by anglers. However, I personally prefer the FishSkiff16 because it can take a bigger motor, can be used with an electric bow motor, is incredibly stable, provides more useable deck space, and gets me close to the water. Also, a bit more robust and rugged. Although about 16kgs heavier.
      Try to hold on to the Hilux if you can. That's an awesome truck. Can you fish from the shoreline for now to save $$$? Or maybe a kayak or pack boat at 1/2 the cost? Please don't wait to start your RUclips channel. Start it right away. Even if you have to shoot short clips with your phone. There's plenty more Murray Cod Fishing channels too - Jakko Davis, Fishing with the Captain, Robbiefishing, to name some of the more popular ones.
      Yes, I agree that the FishSkiff16 would be my favourite too.
      The Hilux is an awesome vehicle, in terms of reliability and for off-roading.
      I do fish from a kayak, in rivers, for Murray Cod. However, to increase one's chances of catching the elusive meter Murray Cod, what we call here in Oz, a "metery", a tinny boat, or something like the FishSkiff16, would greatly increase the probability of landing these behemoths in lakes.
      I suppose, for my situation, it's either a) Keep the Hilux, and upgrade the trailer I already have for my existing tinny, that was sold to me, unaware of the patch it had replaced on its hull; b) Sell the Hilux, buy a Toyota Corolla, and then purchase a FishSkiff16, with a new outboard and Minn Kota; or c) Sell the Hilux, buy a Toyota Aurion (what is known in the States as a "Camry"), and pair that with a Polycraft Tuffy, an awesome little boat that has just broken onto the North American market too.
      New York State has some awesome fishing. I fished around Callicoon, cathcing some awesome Brown Trout and I think they were called Small Mouth Bass(?), but I am not 100% sure on that one.
