McDavid is getting taken to the shed by Barkov in this playoff. McDavid has been completely lost away from the puck on at least three goals this series.
They’re losing the mental battle. So many lanes for simple plays have been available to them because of their speed and vision but instead of making them, they’re thinking, “we’re the offensive oilers, in order to beat these cats we need to make crazy insane plays and play hot potato with the puck.” Really sad to see. They’ve been on a warpath since their terrible start and they’ve finally come together as a complete team this season only to fall apart in the cup finals like this. Really sad to see as an Edmontonian. The injuries don’t help either.
McDavid doesn’t have a 200foot game either, when he’s not scoring which is expected against contending teams with matchups, he should be doing more away from the puck.

Bob looks amazing, but Barky's stats are undeniable.. he's the true MVP of their team. I think Bob woulda won it last year (or maybe Matthew Tkachuk), but Barkov shutting down the best guys, rendering them scoreless. Barky took it to a whole new level this year!! Basically, what I'm saying is Bob is still great... Barky = THE DIFF MAKER this year, plus great acquisitions Sam Reinhart, Kyle Okposo, and Stevie Lorentz.

Remember the fact that less than 2 years ago Bobrovsky was one of the worst goalies in the league with many thinking that Spencer Knight would become the starter in Florida.
He's been much better but I still don't get all the flowers being thrown at his feet. People clearly don't pay attention lol. If your team dominates puck possession at a 70% clip in basically all of their wins I don't understand how your saying it's the goalie that's doing it. He stole 1 game lol. Imo it should easily be Barkov. He's irreplaceable. Cats would win with about 5 other goalies in place of Bob. Cats are dominant. Bob stole 1 game. Game 1 of this series. The rest was all Florida as a team.

Can we get a little Barkov vs Bob Conn Smythe debate going? Idk what the f*ck people are watching. A completely Irreplaceable player vs a goalie that can be replaced by at least 5 others and the team would still be here.
It might come down to who has a big game four because recency bias. If Bob has a shutout in game four it will be a statistically historic finals performance. If he lets in a few and Barkov has a heroic performance then then it might go to him, but overall the odds are on Bob

When my buddies played junior B we would sit behind the away team’s bench and chirp the coaches we would pull up pictures of their wife’s and just lay into them we would get kicked out every game but our buddies parents would sneak us back in during the playoffs we were about to sweep a team so we brought brooms and one of my buddies got into a fight with one of the kid’s parents and got permanently band so he would sneak in with wigs on
I have mixed feelings on the impending shutout only because I wanted the series to go longer than four games. On the other hand I can appreciate the clinic Florida is putting on. Smothering defense. Exploiting almost every mistake Edmonton’s defense makes.
Then there’s Bobrovsky who is already winning the Conn Smyth…a shutout in game four would put him with Patrick Roy’s 96 cup performance (against the Cats ironically) when he only let in four goals in four games. He could also eclipse Jacques Plante’s save percentage from his 57 and 60 performances, and possibly even Tim Thomas’s percentage from his epic 2011 performance (props to Thomas for having that percentage over seven games though.)
I have no dog in the fight, but it's simple....no 'Bob' & the Oil likely up 2-1. Florida makes a mistake, Bob bails them out. Edmonton makes a mistake, it's in the net.
Florida is a very good team, but there is no way, between '23 & 24, that they make the Cup finals without 'Vezina Bob'. After 2 forgettable seasons as a 10.5M goalie, Vezina Bob re-appeared in game 5 vs Boston in '23 with his team down 3-1.
Florida squeaked into that post-season by 1 fucking point with Lyon, not Bob in net. The rest, as they say, is history. He's been awesome once again, this time in the final.

Florida totally ouplayed in games 1 & game 3. They sure as hell didn't 'control' the puck 70% of the time in those games.
Without Bob game 3 could've easily been 7-4 Oilers. The Oil had 20 to 7 in more 'high danger' shots alone. Bob wasn't way better than Shesterkin in round 3, but in the first 3 games of the final, he's been the best player to date, period. He's the MVP in the final so far. Barkov in 2nd place.
Hockey is the only sport where the eastern conference is so much more talented then the western conference , you have to be a an absolute unit from the west to go on a run and finish it out like the avs or Vegas last year . You gotta have players that want the puck on their stick and not dudes that just don’t wanna fuck it up for their team . The second one of the leaders body language changes and your team sees “oh their not going to be able to put on a cape and save us “ that the confidence is 100% completely lost .
