Hard work. My great grandfather was a coal miner in WV. He worked all night. They called it the hoot owl shift. He was a sweet kind man. Wish we had some of his equipment left like his hat and lunch pail. Thanks Nate and Bonnie.
Very sad to know how mines where run back in the day. The poor animals and hardworking men. Thank you for doing a great video on some important history. Have a great big beautiful tomorrow.
Thanks for this tour. My Grandpa was one of the coal miners that worked the mines in eastern Pennsylvania as a child. I have a picture of him as a young teen standing in a shaft much like the one in this video. He eventually died of black lung that he got from his time in the mines. I feel like I have a better understanding of what he did now.
Thank you for this video Nate! My Dad was born in Duryea Pa. Story has it that my grandfather went down in the coal mines for only one day, came up and said never again!!!! Ended up moving with his young family to Buffalo and the rest is history. Feel like I have a good idea why he didn’t like it! Thx again Nate, as always entertaining! 😘👍🏻
That was alot of fun to watch. Another great video. The canary was very important to miners. My great grandpa worked in the mines in Scranton. I have alot of respect and admiration for them. My family has his miners helmet with a carbide lantern on it.
Hey, I'm a professor down in Florida. My mom's side were Polish coal miners. I'm using your video as a supplement to the actual virtual tour. My mom's name was Bonnie :) Also the stake was used to stop the wheels of the mule carts. Often kids were trampled trying to incert them.
That side of my family were from Scranton. I was like you...I would end up on that tour everytime I would come to visit. Love the TWD comment. I have that scene on a sweatshirt.
I actually work 250+ feet underground in a renovated lime stone mine in Western Pennsylvania. So, I'm always watching your videos from deep, down underground all the time :)
Wow great tour vlog! I found the older I have gotten, the more things I won't do. 20 yrs ago sure I would have done that tour. Now NOPE! !( even though Im only a few hrs from it) So thank you for filming this
WOW😮. It's like you know from the books, but when you get to experience something like this.. it's like WOW!. MUCH RESPECT.. I know this couldn't have been easy. Especially for the children!. Sad but also in a way very understandable for certain times 🙁😏😟. Nate THANK you for sharing. Much love from Florida Belinda Long 😃
Great video Nate. The video was very interesting to watch. Going down into the mine was scary. I don't think I could do it. Just seeing what the miners had to go through was enough for me. Thanks so much for sharing
"Stay here with the Minions" hahahaha! Hey Bonnie :) Wow, I agree Nate...thinking about those beams and poles, wondering "how" they're holding anything up safely. Oh geez, warning poles?! I'd be outta there like NOW!! That man is the Thin Man, yikes!! LOL, Nate...only you can make me laugh laying on the bench!! Yup, I remember hearing that if the canary dies everyone dies, now that's really CREEPY!! Nate, follow the bread crumbs... Now, losing the group would cause me to pass out :/ Nate, these "people" are only making this whole thing scarier! Because of this tour you took us on, I am in awe and have such respect for Coal Miners
What a great bang for your buck and a great History tour for some of the hardest workin folks out there! But, I keep hearing the song,"Canary in a Coal Mine" in my head.
Nate, I have to say... I'm really enjoying your non-Disney videos. It's nice to see something different and it also gives me some encouragement that my new channel will be a success. I'm from Michigan and will be starting a new MI destination channel soon. My previous channel was taking up all my time making slides for the videos and researching technical info (5MIN2GG - 5 Minutes to Great Gadgets).
Paging Mr. Morrow Come to Pittsburgh & visit! Kennywood is a great park. My son works there. You can get a Disney fix because they have Dole whip. Also there are lots of cool things to see & do.
Allison Stamm they had last year at the Pagoda pavilion if you’re familiar with that. It actually was the dole whip float. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it!!!
I've been on tours of the caverns in Missouri. This was so much creepier. Agree with you that the life of a miner was so much harder than we had imagined.
Great video! I visited a mine in PA several years ago and I have to say it was Uber creepy! Then we went to centralia, and if you don’t know what that is I highly suggest a visit. The history of the coal mines in PA is so fascinating.
Very interesting to see the conditions they had to work in. Apparently, the mine was closed in 1966 and lay abandoned until 1978 when the mine was converted to a museum (Wikipedia).
I never felt so uneasy Since my last mri I’m claustrophobic Just the ride alone killed me You are braver than I could ever dream to be Fascinating Video though But I am glad it’s over
Wow that was pretty cool ...I wAnt to look up what it’s like in a coal mine nowadays . I come from a long line of nurses ( like Veronica ) and I can remember my grandmother saying all miners die of lung disease rather young from the coal dust . Kinda sad ! I bet they wear special masks now . I’m pretty sure W VA is the only place left with a coal mining industry or does Penn have active mines too ?
Nope...nope...and nope. I am hyperventilating now. Oh lord no. I can’t do tight spaces. We miss you. We’ll be heading down to Disney on Tuesday. It’ll be sad that we can’t look for you this time.
I went through the mine in 2000, I'd love to go back and see it agai. I have the utmost respect for miners it was hard work that's for sure.

Well my hat is off to your great-grandfather because those working conditions are harsh
Wow awesome I live in Scranton PA I love how you are from around here love this channel!
Wow! Thanks Nate for the tour. Clean energy is the only way to go for the future.

Great stuff. Coal miners have guts. Looks like a fun tour. Thanks Nate
Great vlog Nate, very interesting. Brave people them mine workers!
Love all these seemingly random PA videos. I agree I would never want to be a miner. Very educational. Thanks for sharing!
I actually work 250+ feet underground in a renovated lime stone mine in Western Pennsylvania. So, I'm always watching your videos from deep, down underground all the time :)
It’s always interesting to see others view of the mines. Have been down a few times but great seeing yours. Thanks!
That was awesome man

Your tour was very interesting. Thank you for sharing, especially since I would not be brave enough to go down into the mine shaft!
Great video Nate!! Loved the tour!!!

We did this tour about 10 years ago! So interesting.
I did it 25 years ago and I was just a kid then So it really didn't interest me but now I'm like this is amazing
Watching this makes me want to do it again!
Live the life you love.
First again!!! Now to go WATCH!!!!! Always excited to see a PMM vlog!!!

Champion😄😄😘😘😄
vickie chandler 🏇🏾☝️
Nate is 200% correct. I would be so claustrophobic that I could NEVER work in those conditions. Kudos to the men who risked their lives.
Have you ever been to Howe Caverns in NY? It’s Another fun place to go down below the surface of the earth. Thanks for the vlog!
You and Bonnie are very brave! That first figure standing there reminded of the movie My Bloody Valentine. Yikes, so scary by yourself!!!
Great vlog! :).
Ooh one minute and I’m watching.

Hey buddy is there anyway you could go to Kennywood,so many fond memories!!!
I would love to go to Kennywood I'm going to do some research and see if I can make it happen

@@traceysell4127 I've gone to Kennywood every summer... how am I NOW just finding out that they have dole whip?!?

@@traceysell4127 Good to know because I feel like I walk past that all the time when I'm there! haha
Happy for the interset. Facts - need some review.
Very neat! But those mannequins are super creepy 😱 cool vlog idea!
They were creepy in fact a couple of them caught me off-guard and it really creeped me out
I was waiting for you to exit through the gift shop! Great Job so cool! #PMM
That was really cool Nate!
You are a brave man. I went to Ruby Falls and that was so scary. I don't like being in the ground. At least it wasn't crowded.
Love this video pretty nifty
Thanks Nate. Very cool. Why the hair nets?
I think the hair nets were just for Style Hahahah
Thanks for taking us along! I dont think I could go down there. Too creepy!
I live in luzerne county !! 25 minutes away !
I've been on tours of the caverns in Missouri. This was so much creepier. Agree with you that the life of a miner was so much harder than we had imagined.
the stick was to stop the carts and that airshaft is actually the escape lift.
Ooohhhh No way I watched my bloody valentine to many times to go down there.
Great video! I visited a mine in PA several years ago and I have to say it was Uber creepy! Then we went to centralia, and if you don’t know what that is I highly suggest a visit. The history of the coal mines in PA is so fascinating.
That was really cool!!!! & HI!! Bonni!!
SO when are you headed back to Florida?
Very interesting to see the conditions they had to work in. Apparently, the mine was closed in 1966 and lay abandoned until 1978 when the mine was converted to a museum (Wikipedia).
Nate, you should try visiting Jim Thorpe. It’s a nice little town with a building that was the inspiration of WDW’s Haunted Mansion.
You must of been reading my mind because that is where I’m on my way right now
Paging Mr. Morrow Awesome! Looking forward to it!
I never felt so uneasy
Since my last mri
I’m claustrophobic
Just the ride alone killed me
You are braver than I could ever dream to be
Fascinating Video though
But
