One thing to note, that most people miss (understandably so, you wouldn't know if you haven't read the books), is that the Slytherin common room is IN THE DUNGEONS. They're not putting them in jail or chaining them or anything, McGonagall merely asked Filch to escort the Slytherin house back to their common room.

Something interesting is that Voldemort assumed Harry the half blood was the bigger threat when he heard the prophecy than Neville the pure blood. He saw himself in Harry and shows how hypocritical he was about the whole pure blood being superior thing. Also I think Harry dropped the stone because he didn’t want to risk Voldemort’s horcrux surviving, that was true sacrifice not being halfhearted and risking everything by trying to survive himself.

Ariana Dumbledore - NOT a squib. As a very young child, she was attacked by a group of muggle boys who saw her practicing magic. This traumatized her so severely, she became unstable (mentally, emotionally, magically) and had to be kept at home.
Considering this, I take "attack" to mean more than name-calling, but including the physical -- yes, even...well....the worst thing you can think of (I can't even bring myself to type the words..). In fact, I'd be willing to bet money on that likelihood. What it did to her mind, I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually it; I can't imagine anything worse that could traumatize a child to that extent for life.
She needed to be taken care of 24/7 from then on. I believe it was those muggle boys were the ones Dumbledore's father attacked, for which he was sent to Azkaban. The mother died (Ariana - a magic accident in her teens IIRC). With both parents gone, Albus was expected to care for her, being the eldest son. He did it IIRC, but, while he loved his sister, he resented the responsibility because he had...big plans (he was not yet the Dumbledore we know..) - he and Grindelwald.
As for what ultimately happened to Ariana.. Like the lady Normies said, there was a three-way duel between Albus, Aberforth, and Grindelwald. Ariana got caught in the crossfire and died. No one ever knew whose spell actually did it. Nevertheless, Albus forever blamed himself.
I guess they could've done Priori Incantatem (assuming it was known by then) to figure out whose wand it was. But I'm sure there was so much chaos afterward. I bet Grindelwald split. The Dumbledore brothers could have at least checked their wands, but really, it didn't matter. If Albus hadn't been so selfish and headstrong, this confrontation that lead to his sister's death would never have happened in the first place. Tragic.
We hear some of this from Aberforth in the Deathly Hallows book, at the Hog's Head. This is shocking to Harry, of course. I found myself a bit irritated at that part in the movie. Instead of the viewers (and Harry) hearing/seeing this story/flashback, Harry instead says he doesn't need to hear it bc he doesn't care and trusts the man he knew. Over, done, skipped. *sigh*
One heartbreaking thing about growing up is discovering the darker parts of loved ones and ourselves, and trying to reconcile that. Time and again, we learn something awful (firsthand or second), and need to reevaluate everything we knew about them. Harry Potter's story is a coming of age story, too. He has to deal with many revelations and realities. That's what makes it feel so...authentic and relatable. So, to leave out that bit of Dumbledore's story left me disappointed with that scene.
Additionally, after Harry sacrifices himself and is in his soul's version of the "afterlife waiting room," Albus has a long talk with Harry about many things, including Ariana. A real heart to heart. He opens up. IIRC, he even cries. There's no more well-timed riddles/revelations because Harry has everything he needs to know regarding himself and Voldemort. Harry could even choose to move on. I guess Hermione, Ron, and Neville could continue the fight against Nagini and Vold.. But I'm sure Albus knew Harry would likely choose to go back and ensure it got done.
So yes, Aberforth is very bitter regarding his brother. At this point, he's disgusted with Albus's "plans" -- because this one involving Harry just feels like more of the same old reckless grandiose overreaching. But when you know the Dumbledore family's backstory, at least you understand Aberforth (in the movie, he's made to look like the bitter, grudge-holding a-hole who feels Albus doesn't deserve trust or praise - maybe even indicating some jealousy). But, IMO, the backstory makes Albus tragic (and human!) in his own way. We know that he wasn't just born into the world a wise person; he had to earn it the hard way.
AND, us book readers and Harry had no clue now if the plan Albus left behind is going to actually work because now we know he isn't perfect; he's screwed up royally before. Yet, Harry moves ahead anyway and tries to have faith in the cause. Really, it's not just Albus Dumbledore who's integral to the defeat of Voldemort, but it's Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville (so much Neville!), Luna, McGonagall, Dobby, and EVERYONE ELSE who is united in this fight. ..Yes, faith in that.
I read these books for the first time starting well over a year ago (along with my 9yo daughter -- it was new for us both). DH, I knew things would pan out well enough somehow, but the revelations of Albus's past did make me nervous about "the plan." So the book was a bit more suspenseful and bleak for me. I do LOVE the DH movies though. There are a few changes and omissions I would prefer the DH movies had not done. And there were a few movie changes I preferred over the book.
But my experience of the story (HP overall, not just DH), I like to focus on the best of both worlds.
I forget what I was talking about.. Hm. Yeah, in movie DH, there's a tease at the wedding, the elderly woman (Weasley Aunt Muriel?) letting Harry know there was more to Dumbledore than he knew. So... When there was really nothing later on to add to that, pay it off, I thought in the end, "A one-off comment from an elderly lady at the wedding? Really? That's barely scratching the surface and they think that's sufficient?"
But that's how it went. If any HP movie fans want more of the HP story (and whatever couldn't/wouldn't fit into the movies), they can read the books. I highly recommend it though. Detailed, fleshed out characters and storylines make for a richer and more memorable experience overall. ❤
(Yes, this was too long so no one is likely to read this, I know. I do get carried away...🤷🏻‍♀️...but I kinda enjoy it. lol)

Also, Draco married a woman that's nowhere in the Potter books. (Though, her older sister is.) Her name is Astoria Greengrass. Apparently Draco and Astoria became determined to step away from their parents' outdated, bigoted ideals and raised their son to be more tolerant. Not enough to be come best buds with Harry, but enough to raise Scorpius well enough that he becomes friends with Harry's son Albus. • @DocuzanQuitomos
      @DocuzanQuitomos 10 месяцев назад +7

Hold back the horses: Draco has a (partial, very minimal) redemption arc in the books, so much so the train scene in the film comes right from the books (Draco doesn't become a whole new good person... but learns to broaden his horizons a bit, specially when he is more under the influence of his mother rather than his father; that was the whole arc XD).
The scene you mention was an alternate scene filmed in order to prevent leaks: the production filmed three or four different versions of pivotal moments in the story to make the cast, and anyone spying, unsure of which scene was meant to be in the final cut. And they didn't use it in the end (so, there you have it: if someone wants to forget it existed, well, it isn't canon).
Still, Malfoy fans love it and wish it was picked for the final version XD.

If this is your Patronus, then you should definitely feel pride at your unique and uncommonly found personality! Curious and peaceful in demeanor, red squirrels are used to maintaining a strong level of privacy so as not to get hurt. They may be quiet, but these rust-colored creatures are vicious and not to be crossed when protecting their property and defending their friends.

*_Patronus_* --- Salmon - Focused and resilient, the salmon provides a glorious chase for both man and other creatures within its ecosphere. Its design and tendency to travel in schools allow it to easily outmaneuver opponents, proving its proficiency in finding strength in numbers.

*_House_* --- Slytherin: Ambition. Cunning. Resourceful
*_Patronus_* --- Chestnut Stallion - A chestnut stallion is a horse with attitude! He is fearless, fiercely protecting his master. A headstrong fellow, this horse will stand his ground between you and Dementors until his enormous stores of energy send him charging down the Dementors in a frenzied gallop! He will lend you his strength and stand strong against the darkness.
    *_Rana_*
*_House_* --- Hufflepuff: Kindness - Loyalty - Hardworking - Humility
*_Patronus_* --- Weasels are one of the world’s smallest carnivores! This means they have to compensate for their size by attitude. Weasels seem like a cute little rodent you’d want to keep as a pet, but they are quite mischievous little things. They are quick-minded and slick. They are masters of chaos and are actually quite intelligent. It’s no wonder that a group of weasels is often called a “boogle” or a “confusion.” A weasel is a strong Patronus because it easily outwits any predator that threatens it.

Pat being slow at catching on is the single most comedic thing of this reaction, especially during the Snape scene - Karthik

I’ve always loved how when Pansy Parkinson says “someone grab him” it’s the girls who immediately stand between her and Harry showing the strong protective women in his life.

Interesting fact the actress that does Malfoy’s mom is the same actress that did Aunt Paulie in Picky Blinders

Don't know if you guys noticed this but During the Snape vs McGonagall duel, Snape purposefully deflected two of McGonagall's attacks onto the death eaters behind him and then proceeded to take their wands before fleeing out the window.

The Slytherin dorm is literally in the dungeons btw lol
Also McGonigal vs Snape in the book was more wild, girl through knives or swords at him if I remember correctly
Also she Flitwick and I think Abaforth all duel Voldemort together in the court yard.

Malfoy married Astoria Greengrass. Its Albus Severus and James Sirius. Rose & Hugo are the kids of Ron & Hermione. Harry is an Auror, Ron is an Auror, Hermione is Minister for Magic, Ginny was a pro quidditch player who retired and did sports commentator for the Daily Prophet.

Draco didn’t marry Pansy Parkinson’s. He marries Astoria Greengrass. Their son is Scorpius. Neville didn’t get together with Luna, he married Hannah Abbot, a Hufflepuff. They showed her briefly in Harry Potter and the goblet of fire. She is the one that stands in Harry’s way before he goes to speak with Cedric. Luna actually marries the grandson of Newt Scamander.

Gotta hand it to the ladies for keeping silent while pat asked "Ya'll feel bad for snape?"" lol. They knew just how much of a silent hero snape was and the following scene was gonna be heavy.

So educational! Glad I chose to watch this video.. I'm learning so much about the jobs they had after this event. I'm learning more about the house objects that I never really tried to hammer down. 😂😊

We know... most of the wizarding world still doesn't (even Rita Skeeter didn't get her hands on that knowledge), so I wouldn't be to hard with what she said XD.

In the book It was Crabe who died in the fire but due to the actor who played was in some legal trouble they gave the death to Goyle instead in the movie
