Danny should have had the 81’ Olympia. There may have been decisions made during Arnold’s reign but you can’t say Arnold didn’t deserve to win ? He was awesome, 1974 in particular just unbeatable

History is showing that Weider and the Olympia were nothing to do with the best or honest competition. It was ONLY about making money. Having said that, Arnold was the best in the early 70s. Then from 1976 to 1982 it all went wrong imo. But, we are still talking about it today which is interesting. If not a little predictable.
Danny Padilla wasn't the only professional bodybuilder who got conned by the Weider corporation. Most people are aware Mike Mentzer should have won that Mr. Olympia title back in 1980. But because Arnold Schwarzenegger was busy promoting Weider supplements and Weider sports equipment at the time, he was therefore predetermined by Joe Weider to win more out of a political favor than from muscular definition. As a result, the fix was inevitably in. That decision was heavily criticized by competitors and attendees, and that is why the Mr. The Olympia contest was boycotted by Frank Zane, Boyer Coe and Mike Mentzer the following year in 1981. Mike Mentzer got unfairly screwed over by Schwarzenegger and everyone knows it. That's why he carried his bitterness and anger to the grave.

Danny told me he'd competed in the prejudging and some of his competitors told him they thought he won. With Danny out Wilfred Sylvester who'd already won a Mr. Universe class title and a countryman to head judge oscar state won. state is as responsible as george butler for what happened. I've read where Silvester is claimed to have won mr. universe held by every major organization.
I also read the Weider brothers really wanted to give Mike Katz one last chance to win. And Danny’s condition was too good. They did a lot of sleazy things while making pumping iron.
I used to really like Pumping Iron but after hearing about all this stuff that happened with Robby Robinson and Danny. It’s a disappointment. Disappointment with the director and Arnold. Probly won’t watch it again.

Now, how do you know exactly 100lbs wad from steroids, if you study other smaller pros like Lee Priest, you will learn to hear that they actually take less steroids than the bigger guys, and their lean body mass gained from steroids is way less. Guy would have been closer to 140 or 130lbs without the supplements. Dude was born with the right shape despite his height, no need to diminish his accomplishments.
