I have creative ways to tame the Yi Ling, I think, one of them is that the Yi Ling has preferences in chasing humans so if it takes some time attacking a creature it will leave it for go after you regardless of what creature you're riding, being able to chase you and detect you much further than the nameless and the player himself, who are the beings that can see another farthest, because of that creatures like cosmo to swing around and rock Drake to briefly distract the yi ling to reach their babies Will be insanely useful but not necessary, the babies Will take a distance far from you in the nest and you need to obtain his trust, but not like the gigantoraptor, i Will make that the baby or the babies needs the smell of food to attract them, for that i Will make a food bait engram when you put food but dependes of the food Will have better smell, better smell=faster you gain his trust, more percentage of tame and more tame effectiveness, but also dependes of the food you have as bait because the yi ling Will eat only 1 Unity of food and don't cares if It's the worst meat you have he Will only eat 1 Unity but the meat/kibble you will gave him as bait and food will determinate his final tame effectiveness, if you gave him meat or kibbles lower than extraordinary, you will get a maximum of 85% taming effectiveness, and the baby Will loss tame 1-2 hour after you stopped being with the bait in the nest but if you die or drop the bail with the food when the baby have 75-80% of trusting don't worry, the baby Will increase even faster the trust in you and if reach the 100% of trust he Will eat the object and Tame for his own and if you die he Will fly to your respawn point and gave you all your items like the fjordhawk but that ability only can be active if the yi ling have 10 to 50 of maduration, the yi ling will prefer attack the creatures of the player instrad of the player even if that creatures are in the player's shoulder because the ai of the yi ling knows what really makes destruction of all the things of the player and equal than the argentavis can lift creatures with his beak, but the yi ling can lift even raptors with it, with his paws can lift rock Drakes, reaper kings and creatures fron Air and sea equivalent but cannot lift things and also cannot lift creatures equal to a Rex or beyond, and if the babies get scared because you get so close in the nest (The distance varies depending on how much confidence you have) he will make a roar that will attract every yi ling in the biome even if you cannot see them and the baby Will lose every effectiveness and will escape from the nest and the yi lings will go 4x faster, only Will target you and they will do 6x damage, the yi ling have a lot of damage so even if you have tek armor you Will be shower than them and they Will be instakill to you. That's my point of what the yi ling should be, there are a lot of things that i don't say because of laziness, that things Will make the yi ling worth it

Imo, I think k the yi Ling should have its own taming method, it just looks too cool to have another creatures taming method
a stupid idea of taming method: you do emotes/ gestures as the creature ask or it will runs away
