My theory is that Jim was scared because he after he saw the news it was like the exact same house as his but it was really similar but he never thought about it being his house but he thought actually smart about it kind of so he started ordering stuff so he can survive this monstrosity but when the last news of his entire existence happened it said you have to hide I think he shot himself in the chin that made him the anomaly that his corspe went into the factory and got dropped in something so made him into that anomaly and obviously different people saw this happening so they actually got prepared it was much harder than Jim's computer because you had to go outside to fix the ventilation and the oxygen and electricity.
