I thought the trailer did exactly what it intended to. It’s an action thriller but the emotional core will be what makes this movie special. I loved the way it was cut and the music was fantastic. I’m so ready to catch this one in cinema!

Hi... been following your channel for 4 years now !!
Some feedback on this. Yes, this is not the best trailer out there, but it's decent and the reason things are unclear is because the makers do not want to reveal everything in the promos and want us to experience it in the theatres itself.
The teaser was more impactful. But both of the promos did not connect with you guys because you both never really paid attention to the details or subtitles in the teaser and the trailer. I think it is very evident that it is a brother sister relationship here. And alia being the sister here is going to go any lengths to save her brother. It is a classic role reversal and probably the first in bollywood where the sister is going to go all out to save her brother. In most movies of this nature it is the other way round. And yes the performances look good, the director is known for fun and groundbreaking movies, so definitely people are excited for it.
Also, these relationship based movies work wonders in India. Where the core is an emotional arc between a mother and son, or father and son or brother and sister. You guys are not getting this part. If the emotion hits in the feels in this movie, its going to do wonders.
Also, how can after watching the trailer you not get that the brother is in jail in a foreign south asian country as mentioned in the subtitles clearly and he is caught for something that won't get you a death penalty in India. And he did not get proper trial and legal defense in his case because he was in a foreign country where he did not even understand the language in which his death sentence was read out.
Not liking a trailer is one thing, not getting a trailer because of not paying attention is what is bothering your audience here. Thanks.

In India sister and brother relationship are kind of like that. Every year on Rakhi sisters tie a sacred thread on the wrist of their brothers as a symbol of protection. The whole emotions in the movie are based off of that. I have similar feeling for my younger brother. And this trailer made me very emotional

Rick, being really honest, I think there are some nuances that can only really be fully understood and grasped with a proper understanding of a language and culture. Unfortunately, because you and Korbin are not fluent Hindi speakers or culturally Indian, I think the trailer is too fast-paced for you to really connect with it. I will not lie and say that it flows perfectly but I think the point here is for it to be kind of choppy, attention-catching, and a bit chaotic. Either way, I hope you see the film and then get back to us with your opinion.

I don’t believe that every opinion should be based on personal experiences or past likes/dislikes. In fact, Rick and Korbin should be viewing and reacting to this trailer on its own experience, which I think they are. I just think that their sentiments toward this trailer may be different than mine (I’m an Indian) due to cultural differences, and it may be contributing to the reason why Rick is not able to comprehend/resonate with the content he just reacted to.

It seems like you often gravitate toward simpler, more familiar trailers because they’re fun and aligned with traditional norms of Indian cinema, focusing heavily on cultural elements that you’ve grown to understand since your channel’s inception. However, when Indian films attempt to push boundaries by experimenting with new genres or storytelling methods that deviate from these cultural expectations, it appears you don’t fully appreciate or accommodate these efforts. The criticism here is that you tend to favor content that feels "Indian enough," embracing creativity only when it's coated with familiar cultural cues, rather than supporting more innovative or experimental projects that challenge the conventions of mainstream film especially in Hindi. Here people are calling Alia - Lady Bachchan and it’s so great, but you don’t like it cause it’s different but not in an Indian way.

hey, likes and dislikes are alright, part and parcel of watching anything. No one's expecting you to pick up cultural nuances, and it's perfectly alright if the rhythm and pacing puts you offf, but do at least grasp the basic premise of a trailer. It looks like a simple prison break action thriller, where a sister decides to break her brother out of prison in a south east asian country where carrying drugs is punishable by death ( Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam....where this is absolutely a reality ). Now the premise is as obvious and clear-cut as that. You may not like the vibe of the trailer and that's cool. You gotta at least pick up what's happening in it! That's basic

@@mrinalinisinghania2384 thanks! Rick clearly didn't like either the teaser or the trailer, which is totally fine. What was putting off though was the laziness in engaging with what's there in the teaser/trailer. Tbh it's not that the premise is amazing. I personally don't dig it either, but do trust Vasan Bala as a filmmaker to pull off something interesting. Mindboggling though, how a straight forward simple one line premise was completely missed by Rick n Korbin in the teaser and trailer because of lazy watching

    • @mrinalinisinghania2384
      @mrinalinisinghania2384 Месяц назад +1

Precisely! I think that initially their channel was fun to watch (and still is, at times) because they would actively engage in the content they were watching. I have now become irritated by the fact of how quickly they tend to dismiss content that they don’t necessarily understand properly. Which is why I think they need to better educate themselves because it leads to confusion and sometimes even a disrespectful/condescending tone. I hope they take a beat to evaluate their words and behavior so that it doesn’t end up hurting the hard work of so many individuals who work together to make a film, as well their audience here on RUclips.

This was just lazy wishy washy uninformed analysis. Liking/not liking something is absolutely fine...careless lazy engagement is not. I think both of you really didn't grasp that the film is quite literally in your brother's relationship...
That is the entire gist !!
We are a country where we have traditional festivals ENTIRELY based on Brother-sister relationship!!
Example - Raksha Bandhan, Bhai Dhuj, Bhai phota...
    Especially Raksha Bandhan..
In Raksha Bandhan, it's believed that the brothers always protect their sisters...
So, here they are showing how a sister is going to all lenghths to protect his brother.
And the tempo changing in the end, was needed because it was there to remind us that this IS NOT some action thriller but a STORY about a sister's love !!
Which I mean honestly if you knew hindi would have understood when they played the legendary, old "phoola ka tara" Song...
A song that has been in the epitome of a brother sister relationship in India..
A song that is ALWAYS played in Raksha Bandhan...
The teaser gave only that song because from the very onset they wanted to point out that the film is about Brother-sister relationship.
We native speakers didn't need to be told that specifically through dialogue because we understood from the song.
Even the name of the trailer, "Jigra" Is also a huge point out to how this film is about brother-sister relationship.
"Jigra" - means 1. Being courageous & brave..
Which here a sister is doing for her brother..
It's also simultaneously used to describe a person who is usually a part of your heart...
It's usually used in the context of either friends or siblings..
Not romantic relationships & not parents...
Although u could but it's never really used in that way...

India is a patriarchal society at the core even though it projects itself differently to the outside world.
A sister going out of her way to save her brother is a sentiment which will resonate ONLY within Indian borders.
That perhaps explains why Rick and Korbin were cross eyed and confused after watching this trailer.
As for Bollywood, if this movie clicks at the box office, soon you will see an assembly line of hindi movies where the pet cat saves his master from the mafia, a step grandmother saving her grandchild at the battlefield, etc.
Basically gamble with some ridiculous idea and hope that a new franchise can be setup in coming years. The audience are dumb anyways.
